First i was speaking with a co-worker today about cruises and mentioned we were going on the Fantasy this summer. He said he would never go on a Disney Cruise because they were "dry". I informed him he was mistaken on that and when out of site i did start laughing a little. It amazed me that with as much info is on the web people wouldn't know there is alcohol on the ships.Second I know from others trip reports that you can bring you own alcohol on board. As we are starting to plan this cruise I wanted to find out if there is a limit. Has to be in carry-on baggage correct? Any other information you care to share or suggestions?Thanks! I wish we had also brought Rick some Diet Pepsi. They have free soft drinks on the ship, but they are way up on the pool deck, and small glasses are at the dispensers. Also bought a bottle in JUNEAU and brought it back aboard (we left from Canada). Our son and his in-laws family took the Magic last year and actually "restocked", beer and liquor, when then got to Cozumel and several other ports (there were 8 adults in their group so the consumption was a little higher :rofl3: )..,As far as limit I think it's whatever you can fit in your carry on.Here's the info right from the DCL web site: Beverage Policy Question What is the policy regarding bringing alcoholic beverages on board? Answer Alcohol is permitted on board. However, any fragile items (including alcoholic beverages) must be hand-carried on board in the carry-on of an adult Guest – age 21 or older (dimensions can't exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep). Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area. Guests who arrive in the dining room, including Palo and Remy, with a bottle of champagne or wine will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle. Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from checked luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage. Everything was delivered to you the night before you debarked. Same rule applied to any alcohol bought on the ship.Does anyone know if that may have been specific to RC or have things changed so that you can now bring back whatever you've purchased in port without any issues, or do you need to "discreetly" bring it back on board with you?ETA: got my answer in Dave's post above - thanks! h2odivers...Ray 952 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 We brought a case of beer in a big carry on, a six pack of coke, and a bottle of CrownWe bring cans so we can carry them up to the pool. Also I slipped our room steward $20 and he made sure we always had a couple of beers on ice. One thing that I'd surprise me is that there wasn't a casino. We walked around a couple of times with beer or sangria and didn't have any trouble. I think they would have a problem if you brought a cooler full of beer to the pool and get rowdy. But I imagine the policy is similar to a state park not allowing alcohol...it gives them something to point to if they need to discipline someone acting stupid. DaveInTN 3,247 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 Jason, my suggestion...and this is worked well for us....is to have a rolling carry-on that will fit all the alcohol you want to bring aboard as well as your swim suits. As soon as you board, they will point you toward the buffet for lunch up on deck 11. What we did though was head up to deck 11, but we changed into our suits and hit the Aqua Duck while everyone was eating. Then, when the AD got really busy, we went and ate. Got several rides in with no lines. Then after eating you can go to your stateroom and change, and enjoy an adult beverage ahead of the cast off party. Also keep in mind, as noted in the info Dave posted above, that you can bring your own wine to your sit down dinners for a $20 corkage fee. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

There are always cups, ice and drinks there for free. You steward will keep you supplied with a bucket of ice in your room if you ask. I always get thirsty at night, and didn't bring any water onboard. But what I did was, every night before bed we ordered room service....some Mickey bars, a caraffe of coffee for the morning, and several glasses of ice water. All free. We like to save our space to bring on beer and wine. :doublebeer: On our past cruises we were able to have a soft sided cooler where we kept everything on ice. Perhaps that was against the rules even then, though I hear now it is really enforced not to have any coolers. We'll have to figure out a good option. One think I really enjoyed is that you can bring a full glass with you to dinner from your room, which can to help your dining room bottle last longer. Going from the pool to the buffet. And unlike other cruise lines the soda fountains are free of charge. And the best thing is there is a ice cream machine there also. Free ice cream! Our room steward always made sure that we had ice in the ice bucket that way we could mix drinks or just have a soda when we were in our room. It worked out great and no running back and forth. The were probably about liter size bottles. They will not let you just fill them, you have to use the paper cups so there are no germs. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Tri-Circle-D 2,059 Posted February 6, 2013 Report Share Posted February 6, 2013 Jason-It looks like all your questions got answered.About bottled water- I have always brought an extra duffel bag on our cruises with a case of bottled water and our snorkel gear for use on Castaway Cay. I have always checked this bag, so I'm not carrying around a case of warer. The water bottles go in to the fridge in the room. It's never been a problem. People used to check cases of water as luggage, but DCL now prohibits this. Inside a duffel bag has always worked for me.If you are flying directly there and can't pick up a case of water, they do sell water bottle packages on the ship. I think you pay something like $30 for a case of water. That price makes the tap water taste pretty good. And, I can also confirm that the free drink machines do dispense water, so you can get a cup of ice water there whenever you like.TCD Quote Link to post Share on other sites
