  1. We stayed in loop 900 about a year ago and there was water issues. We didn't have water for about a day and a half they had some sort of water pipe break by the bathrooms. So it was in much need of repair...Then when the water was turned on I did laundry and all my white clothes were turned yellow. It looked like rust. Hope all gets fixed. Cant wait to get back to to the Fort. Will be there for Halloween!

  2. Hi fiends, we leave in two days, the 17th.We got a site at silver springs state park for Tuesday night and will arrive at Stone Mountain Wednesday. We have site 15. One of the loops that look close to the office. I could not find much pictures of the sites. The forecast predicts it will be rainy, I hope they are wrong. Will keep you posted!

  3. Thank you fiends I booked my site today. And golf carts are allowed so super hyped. We are planning to go one day to Helen Ga around  Unicoi State park. Hopefully it wont be that cold, we are use to Miami weather. I also am thinking about booking one night at Silver Springs as our midway point, it is only 30.00 the say they are 8 miles east of I75. Any more suggestions would be great!

  4. We will be changing our dates at The Fort March 18 through March 22. We have decided to go to Stone Mountain instead for my son and mother's birthday. I went a couple of weekends ago on a girls only trip. (no camping we stayed in the Marriot inside the park  ) Since I really enjoyed it and missed camping I decided to go back to the campground. We decided to stop midway to give the kids a break . Being that we live in Miami that would be about Gainesville. Can you give  any recommendations on  a place to stay, We would not get there before midnight and leave about 7am.  Also do you pick your own sight numbers? I was thinking about the purple sites.  Any good site info would be great. Lastly my husband loves his evening cocktails and me my wine to wind down the evenings, I read no alcohol in the park is this also in the campground or just no glass. I now it is a lot questions but I know my fiends cand help.

  5. Good morning,

We go to the Fort about four times a year and the past couple years we have been trying to get different loops each time. Like others have said not  a bad site at the fort. What we have noticed not as many children out playing in the premium loops. We prefer the full hook up with bigger sites or the preferred sites since we have two boys. They always seem to meet friends out in the loop. Wish you the best!

  6. Yes, that is interesting about the train tracks.

I think that's the 400 loop to the right of the tram.  It's interesting that there are no sidewalks along the road.  There's a sidewalk there now, poured over the old rail bed.

The other thing interesting about this photo is that we can see a bus in your photo of the Meadow Pool construction, which is from 1985, yet here is a tram in use in 1986.  I never knew that buses and trams operated at the same time.  Maybe the trams handled inside the campground transportation, and maybe the buses carried guests back and forth to the TTC?

I remember as a child in the 80,s they had trams and buses in the campground. You are correct the buses were used mostly to take you from pioneer hall area to theme parks and ttc. There were a few that ran through the campground loops but majority were trams. I remember always making my parents wait for a tram and bypassing the buses. Ohhh to be a child again. Memories...

  7. What you are complaining of is nothing new to anyone who is familiar with the Disney reservation system.  It's been this way for years.

You need to understand that the people who answer the phones for Disney are at a remote call center, or sometimes even answering the phone from their homes, and many of them have never stepped foot in Disney World.  And, probably close to none of them have ever been to Fort Wilderness.

    It's a frustrating, non-user friendly system.

Next time, use a travel agent.  Disney pays them a commission, and it doesn't cost you a cent.  If you use Jason, who is posting on this thread, you are guaranteed to get the best possible rate.  Those nimrods you talk to on the phone when you call Disney aren't going to go out of their way to find you a discount.

Thank you for the advise will def use Jason next time. I guess I never noticed because we never ushally go any shorter then seven days. Since we bought the AP this year we are trying to get up more frequent for some weekend trips.

  8. Yeah another clueless CM. Once you have dates that include the ones you want, you are only dropping the extras. A CM who knows what they are doing, which tends to be quite a few when it comes to this, will be able to do this no problem. Also they can set it up and confirm the change before they put it through.

I did this just last week for a customer with an AP rate in September. Booked it for more days than they needed to get them what they wanted, called and cancelled the extra days. No issues what so ever.

If you get another CM who says you cant, hang up and call back. They an do it just fine.

    Thank you......

  9. If you call to drop the extra days you wont have a problem. Which ever works best for you though.

Maybe I was not understanding the rep clearly. I am sure you can clarify. I thought she said if I call to cancel the last two days and the computer still does not show availability for just the first three days I can not cancel the last two, or I would loose the resevation.

  10. You will also find when only booking a couple days that the only thing available is premium sites.  But if you book 4 or more days suddenly all four grades of sites are available.  I have also had sites become available  the day before check in.  They will hold on to them until the last minute hoping for a  longer booking but if not will let them go for just a weekend booking. They are just trying to maximize bookings, can't really blame them.

I really don't like the games they make you play but it's their toys so we have to play by their rules.

You cant blame them for trying to maximize thier profits. I am hoping sites open up the weekend of Halloween. I am going to try the day before and hope for the best..That is one good thing about living in Miami it is not that far to do spur of the moment trips to the Fort

  11. I just booked a last minute weekend getaway at The Fort. It is for next Friday Saturday and Sunday. When I tried to book for only two or three nights with annual passholder discounts it is unavailable, but if I put five nights it is available. That just seems a little deceitful. I booked it anyway hoping to cancel the last two days. The reservation specialist was very helpful and told me sometimes when you cancel the end days it will not hive you the beginning days. How can your first three days be available and then when you cancel the last two they are now not available. Really??? Ok I am done venting now, thank you for listening Fiends..... Hope it works out.

  12. We've stayed in 333 and 328 - which is on the other side of the entrance to the dog walk.

There is a some traffic that comes through there - not just people walking dogs, but people coming in to fish the canal, the occasional Disney maintenance vehicle, as well as kids on bikes and people that apparently can't read the "no carts past this point" sign.

Personally I wouldn't request that site because my dogs would bark at every single dog that went by.  If your dog(s) are fine with that you should be fine, just be aware that you might get barked at from time to time.  :)

Thank you I didn't even think of my dog barking at other dogs, but she probably will. With her old age, she is now blind she seems to bark more. My 13 year old lady.

  13. Has anyone stayed in site 331? I was wondering if there is a lot of traffic with the path leading to the grassy area behind it. It seems pretty cool if you have pets to walk them right behind your site. I have preferred reservations over New years Holiday. Cant wait,  we have never been ther over New Years. I am going to have to fit in a trip in  from now till then, because that is to long of a wait....Just got back yesterday from Carribean Beach Resort for the weekend, ohh how I missed The Fort....

  14. I spent last week there, really nice shady sites. Some are very small so make sure you pick out on your rig will it on. Camp sites are not waterfront, but there is parking for beach. Some sites are a long way from beach, we were in 93 and it was close to a mile to beach. Was fine for us as we don't do beaches much. Close to St. Augustine and we enjoyed touring the city. Great campground and would go again. Any questions, just ask.

Are we allowed to bring the golf cart?
