  1. We were in site 333 last October  right after a pretty long spell of rain, and the area between our camper the one next to us was completely flooded the whole week we were there. The canal area ran right behind our site (we were near the curve) and there was a small alligator seen multiple times swimming his way through the canal.  I would refuse this site if again offered when flooded because the standing water next to us was a mosquito haven, but otherwise the trip was great!

  2. After having had a terrible winter last year being hospitalized twice with pneumonia and still having long lasting effects from it my DH wanted to something exciting to plan towards so we decided surprise our kids/grandkids (12 in all) with a trip to Disney this coming October. We have had plans in the making since about April and have been SOOOOO looking forward to getting back to the Fort.

About 1 month ago I contacted Bill from Beachline Golfcarts to request a cart for a few weeks and he told me (at that time) how hard Disney was making it for the vendors. I knew that was true because I had been reading it here and elsewhere. Anyway, I then spoke with him on the phone 7/25 to finalize details regarding the deposit and he said he would contact closer to the date to finalize details. Well, unfortunately I received an email from him dated 8/13 in which he states that Disney has made it just too difficult for him to continue, and that he would not be able to honor the contract. He was very apologetic but said didn't think there were any other options.  Not sure what will happen with any contracts he currently has....you may want to check.

I hope Disney does not think this will make us all rent from them. It will just make me get around less with the grandkids than I would with a cart, and I am sure I would have spent much more visiting the stores and game room, etc. on my grandkids then I ever would the highly exaggerated cost of a golf cart.

  3. Uhh, no, that would be wishful thinking. Jen lives over 100 miles away.

They usually don't show up at WDW until May and Sept, give or take a few weeks either way, so you're not out of the woods yet.

You may hit the beginning of the cycle.

Actually wishful thinking is that "I" was the one who lived only 100 miles from Disney..LOL. With the miserable weather we keep having up here I will gladly take the Florida weather with OR without lovebugs :wave1:.  Thanks for the info. :)

  4. I know it's not Disney, but I noted that in the Toys R' Us (Lego) catalog, on page 38 there is a coupon to receive a FREE  child's ticket with a paid adult one to LEGOLAND parks. This offer is for a one-day ticket and can be used in any of their parks. Only 1 complimentary ticket per coupon. The coupon expires 3/31/2012. Just thought if anyone was going to check out the new Lego park in Florida that this may help. I will not be using the one I have so if someone needs it please PM me and I will send it to you. (I received my Lego catalog in a box of items that I had ordered from Toys R' Us. It was thrown in with the invoice so I am not sure if they are in the store or not, you may need to call. Hope this can help someone!

  5. Great pics!! My DH and I were fortunate enough to stay at Jetty Park about 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. Although our site was VERY unlevel (we actually had to go buy an extra set of levelers) the CG itself was one of our favorites. An extra perk was hearing the Disney cruise ship horn playing the first line of "When you wish upon a star" as it disembarked.

  6. I escaped the "flush" also.. (I assumed my posts were so boring that Voldemort didn't consider me a risk! LOL), anyway, it quickly became evident over there that all the fun and informative threads were a thing of the past. It took me a little while but I eventually saw a thread posted on RVnet which mentioned the new site FF. I jumped over and signed right up. While I don't post very often I certainly visit this site daily to get my daily Fort fix.. Thanks Jen and Chris!

  7. When are you going in September? We are going there the last week of September.

At this point we plan on being there from 9/18 to about 9/26. As far as CGs go, we think at this point we are leaning towards Twin Mountain RV park because one of my sons plan on camping in a tent and there are only a handful of CGs that seem to permit them (I was wondering if maybe the word "bears" was the reason for that!). If he does not make the trip then we plan, like you, on aiming for River-Edge Park. We just returned from a short trip to Disney's All-Stars (had a GREAT time) so most of my planning was working on that trip, but will now have more time to plan this September trip. We are really looking forward to it! Hope to maybe get to meet you and say hello!

  8. We will be heading to Pigeon Forge, TN in September. We know we will be visiting Dollywood for a few days and will also be anxious to see the Smokies, but otherwise there seems to be an over abundance of attractions to choose from. I am sure there are some that top the list of favorites from those who have already visited there. Does anyone have any particular suggestions? Thanks!
