Thank goodness we've been able to see it in person the last few years. He does a wonderful job and I am always mesmerized. Thanks, Dave, and Merry Christmas!

Our room host delivered two wine glasses to our room the very first day without asking! We went to safety drill and came back and there they were. You can bring as much as you can carry on. Saw plenty of people walking all over the ship with the ship's wine glasses. I guess you can't tell if it was your own or purchased from the many bars. It seems more and more common now.

Hi Gwen, I am enjoying your TR. Lovely pics. So glad you got to spend this magical time with your beautiful family. I am looking forward to seeing more. We leave for WDW Sat. after Thanksgiving. Not at the Fort this time, but at DVC Boardwalk. We are surely going over though to visit our friends. We definitely need a Fort fix. Our friends are staying in the cabins, so we definitely will not miss out on seeing for Fort. Sorry we missed you this year.

Enjoy your cruise!
Off topic, but does anyone know if there is wi-fi at Port Canaveral? My SIL wants to take her Itouch and photos before we leave on our cruise, and was wondering about wi-fi. Thanks.

Yay, we got the dinner package at Rose & Crown on Dec. 1 for Gary Sinise! I haven't purchased the package in many years, but I couldn't resist Gary Sinise. We saw him years ago and he was fabulous.

Happy birthday Dave

Oh cool, that's exactly our itinerary. So, I will be anxiously awaiting your trip report. Have a wonderful time and we'll watch you depart on the webcam! We'll be at a party, but I hope to catch you leave. Bon Voyage :jumpforjoy
Oh, and we already have brunch reservation at Palo. We've been there for dinner on the Magic but never brunch. Heard it was very good.

Oh and we are on the Western itinerary.

Actually, I would love to have confirmation of how early they allow you to enter Port Canaveral. In 2011 we arrived by taxi at about 9:15 am. We waited outside in line, and we we entered the actual building about 10 am. If you're there early when you leave on the Fantasy, could you please let us know the time they allowed people to start entering? We are a big group this next time around on our Fantasy cruise in September, so we don't want to drag this whole group around too early, but we would love to be among the first to enter the terminal. We at least could then get nice comfortable seats and take lots of pictures with Mickey and Minnie while waiting. Have a fabulous trip? What route are you taking? Eastern or Western Caribbean?

We left off wondering what was going to happen at 3 o'clock.
And before I let you know what happened, I need to back up and share what it was that brought us here.
Two weeks or so ago, the Disney Parks Blog announced that there would be special Limited Time Magic things in the parks for the whole first week of July.
What really caught my eye was the announcement that the old Disney calliope would be part of the festivities. It says so right here:
(I used the purple crayon to point it out for you),
If you're a true Fiend, you know that calliope was put on display in the Fort Wilderness horse barn a few years ago. And there it stood until some time last year when it mysteriously disappeared and was replaced by some other wagon.
Word was that the calliope was sent out to be put in working order, and that it would perform one day again in the MK.
It looks like that day had finally arrived!
And I planned on being there to see it.
At a little before 3, the parade came on down Main Street:
Woo Hoo! It's the Fire Chief! :
But what is that wagon doing there?
This is not the calliope!:
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice wagon:
But, that is not the calliope.
That wagon does have a Fort connection.
It was put on display at the Fort last year, and was there in the horse barn through the early part of this year:
What the Fort?
Where is the calliope?
Those Disney Parks Blog people sit on a throne of lies!
Oh well, we were here, we may as well watch the parade.
Next up came some dancers:
And a float with some patriotic characters in it, but no parade:
Now what?
No sooner had we asked that question, that the friendly Disney announcer came over the park PA system and announced that the parade was cancelled because of the rain. But, he went on, we should keep our seats, as the Rainy Day Cavalcade was on its way!
Rainy Day Cavalcade?
Have you ever heard of that?
I hadn't.
We could see that something was coming down the street.
Some new guests had taken the place of the Dance Moms and Dads, and they decided that they would stand out in the road and watch:
An ineffective CM came by and asked them to please get up on the curb.
They ignored her.
Well, I had enough.
I yelled- "Get out of the street."
They didn't move.
Typical teenagers.
They were not going to win.
I yelled again.
They still didn't move.
I yelled yet again and said "PLEASE GET OUT OF THE STREET!!!!"
I knew that they heard me.
And I yelled yet again.
I guess they got the message, because they got out of the street.
Not without dropping a couple of F bombs on the way.
Classy.
Very classy.
But I won.
They lost.
Go me.
There was no way those snotty brats were going to stop me from seeing my first Rainy Day Cavalcade.
And here it comes!:
Mickey and Minnie got to ride in the big car:
Then along came Chip and Dale:
We recognized that car and that driver. He has driven us in that car before:
We were on the Chip side:
You can see the rain falling in that last photo.
Apparently a cavalcade only requires three cars, because that's all we got.
Last came a car full of princesses:
And, then all the people fleeing the rain. This photo was taken at 3:12 pm:
There were a lot of people leaving:
Maybe that would mean low crowds and short wait times!
But first, I had a problem that I needed to assess.
Apparently, the Main Street sidewalks are all slanted so they drain into the road.
Good idea.
But that meant that I had been sitting on top of a waterfall for the past half hour.
And my pants were a little wet:
When we visit the parks on rainy days, I bring a change of clothes. But my change of clothes was back in the car, and I didn't feel like going to get them with the crowds that were heading out to overwhelm all the transportation modes outside of the park.
So, I carried on.
Wet butt and all.
By the way, do you see that little nook I'm standing in? It's covered, and the rain wasn't falling on me in there. It's right around the clock on Main Street. In all of my visits to the MK, I have never noticed it. Never.
The next time they have a 24 hour day at the MK, this is where I will take my nap. If you're there, look for me.
From here, we ventured back into the park.
We had about an hour before our Space Mountain Fastpasses were good, and we had some ideas as to what to do until then.
TCD
In all our years of going to MK, we got to see the "Rainy Day Parade" only once, thank goodness. But at least they try to put on something for guests who may have this one and only visit to MK.

Hey guys. Not sure if there is any interest in this anymore, but I thought I'd share a link to my site map here. I killed the old hosting site some month ago when I kept getting pestered by DIS folks. This link is straight out of my Dropbox, so no muss no fuss. I think I've seen the original helps and instructions posted here on FF somewhere, so once I find it I'll post the link here. Anyway, without further ado, here is the most recent version of my file:

Enjoy!
Thanks again, Shannon, this is truly awesome.

Shan-Man posted his new "away home" on his FB page, so hopefully this means he may be back at the Fort real soon :) Hope so.

Hi and welcome! We're from Garner as well, and glad to be your neighbors! We will be down Dec. 1 but hope to catch you around some time. Enjoy your planning and hope to meet you sometime.

I could be way behind the curve here, but I haven't heard this one before today. Has anyone else heard the rumor that they are changing the cabins at the Fort and some will have two bedrooms? :thinking-smiley:

This is really amazing. You should be so proud :jumpforjoy

I just ask for a cup of ice water at any of the counters and it's free. When it's very hot, I ask for a cup of ice water and another cup filled with ice. No problem ever. Just hate carrying around water bottles.

Hope you had a really great birthday Donnie!

When I would go through the line at the buffet, the attendant would fill my Tervis for me by using the paper cup method. Works just fine.

Anything except glass bottles and liquor and supposedly in non-rolling coolers. I have seen those rolling coolers too.
