  1. Carol, if you can, get a horse carriage ride around Central Park.  It may become a thing of the past if the new mayor has his way.

NYC is an awesome place to visit.  I try to make at least one day trip there a year.  The crowds can be crazy especially around Times Square and during the holidays., but there is so much to see and do.

    Have a great time!

  2. I've stayed there several times, in the cabins which are near the tracks.  The trains didn't bother me much at all, as a matter of fact I'll be there Easter weekend.

As far as I know there are two locations for tent campers, one near the creek and one on the hill near the tracks.  If you think the trains will bother you request the creek side sites.

I think it's a great campground with clean bathrooms, a nice pool and play areas for the kids, and free buses to Hershey Park.

  3. I guess what I'm trying to say is that The Fort seems to keep losing bits and pieces of itself, whether it's the lawnmower tree, log benches, covered wagons, or even River Country.  This time it's losing bits and pieces for another resort.  I just wonder how much more in the future The Fort will lose after this is built?  I guess I'm afraid that the encroachment of this will set a precedent that The Fort is the resort that can be stepped on.

I know there will be positives from this.  I also don't think this is just for DVC.

About the bus stop, I also agree that it will be the primary bus stop for the Fort also, but I also have a feeling there will be buses going to the MK from there.

  4. Is this Fort Fiends or DVC Friends?  Maybe everyone's been drinking some Kool Aid, visiting Colorado, or getting paid off by Disney because you people have changed.  First it's "no way, no DVC".  Now it's "sign me up".

Just because these plans show a resort that's really nice and fits in very well with the environment (would you expect anything less from Disney?) doesn't change the fact that it basically over runs, overshadows, and dominates The Fort.

Who would want to stay in those 700 sites that butt up against that bus stop?  I'm sure there will be a lot more bus traffic at that bus stop alone.  The Settlement area is gonna be crazy with all the resort guests now wanting to visit Crockett's, Hoop-De-Doo, and get over to the new dining pavilion, which I assume will be the new Backyard BBQ.  Not to mention they'll probably get some blinged out golf carts of there own to do some looping with.

Also Clementine's beach will never be the same.  The boat's to MK?  Well now The Fort just got dropped a notch on the list for going there or getting back.

That parking lot is still going to be a parking lot with or without berms and it wont be a nice grassy field that kids get to play in.

I can think of more negatives for The Fort, but it wont stop this from being built.  It's just a shame they couldn't do for The Fort what they are doing for DVC.

  5. Great TR as always, TCD, cant wait for the next one.  Hopefully soon.  Sorry to hear you had to miss the big game.

I remembered in your last TR you posted pics of the check in materials.  So I took a look to see the number for automotive assistance for future reference.  Come to find out it's for the AAA Car Care Center.  I guess in a way AAA helped you out after all.  Too bad AAA doesn't realize they have AAA at WDW.

  6. Where did you read that?

I personally visited the old River Country site yesterday, July 1, 2013.  There is no construction equipment present.  Nothing has changed there.  Nothing is going on.  It continues to just sit and rot.

    TCD

Not sure where Arcticfox read it, but I saw someone post something about construction at RC at that other site.  Of course I didn't think much of it since the Fiends would have reported it.

  7. I think you need some Tinker Bill slippers.  It's not too many people that can say they did both all night-ers at the MK but I'm glad you did and that you're sharing it with us.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster but in the past few months of following you're TR's I can get a sense of how close you and your girls are.  I congratulate them on their accomplishments and you for doing a fine job raising them.

  8. Thanks, Carol! That helps a lot! But I wish they still had the option to view the dates by rate.

And did you notice that only works on Preferred and Premium?

I was able to bring a calender up by clicking on "view seasonal rates" under the price for each different type of campsite. $148 for a premium site at peak season, $90 was at off peak. I did view the others but of course the most expensive is what I remember.

  9. Awesome report! It's amazing that all happened in one day.

About the Grande Slam - first will BOG actually serve that many drinks to a customer? I know that may not be a lot to us but to Disney it may be. And secondly - is this just bragging rights or will a medal be involved? Either way I'm going for it in Febraury.

That whole SOTMK card thing sure can bring out the nerd herd. The boys look harmless but SOMWWS - I think he may be on a certain list and isn't allowed to live near schools.
