  1. Nice report we are planning a trip there in 2013.

    Thanks! You will LOVE it!

I hate to fly, but after seeing and reading this.... I just may jump in!!! It looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

    Thank you for sharing!

My pleasure! It's worth the flight!

I wonder if I can make it for a weekend. I'll spend the whole time eating, from the looks of things.

I see no problem with eating the whole time! You get a view while you eat too!

  2. I have been to Oahu twice. Once as a small kid and second on our honeymoon. We didn't realize the wonder of Hawaii until we spend the 5 days on Maui. My wife had never been and I figured traveling all that way, it wasn't right not to visit Pearl Harbor. We were in Oahu for 2 days and Maui for 5. I can't explain how beautiful Maui is. I am more of a mountain type of guy and log cabin, but Maui made me speachless. Oahu in my opinion is so touristy nowadays. Maui is pure relaxation. Here are a few of our favorite pics with the fist one being the view from our room

Breathtaking photos! We have not been to Maui~ maybe next time! So far our favorite island is Kauai. It's small but has desert, rain forest, snow capped mountains and gorgeous beaches! You can easily drive around the whole thing in a day! Our next trip we'd like to take the kids and spend some time "roughing it" in Kauai and then take them to Aulani.

  3. Great photos Ami! :rofl2:

I got really confused for a minute there. I didn't remember going to Hawaii. :D

Seriously, thanks for posting the link. Everything looks amazing!

That would be a problem- not remembering Hawaii! How sad!

I already posted this over on that AWESOME Disney Goddess site...but that food DOES look good! Aw Shucks!

Maybe we will go to Aulani some day.

But after 3 trips to Russia I'm not into long flights anymore. Is there a place in the lot to park my RV? B)

It IS a long flight, but after Russia it should feel like a skinny minute! Or you could wait for the bridge like Duane!

  4. Kim, did you stay on the hotel or DVC side of the resort?

Kim???? :rofl2: Well, I guess I don't have my name in my sig- and maybe Kim and I look like sisters? :P Haha! It's Ami, btw and we stayed in the hotel side...I have a video that I will post too!

We are saving our points up to take the DD to celebrate her HS graduation in 2 years.... Hopefully all of the kinks will be worked out of the place by then.

Who knows, maybe in two years they will have completed the bridge over from California so we can just drive the MoHo over. :rofl2:

    Duane

I hear they're working on that bridge! Yep, two years sounds about right ;)

Thanks for all the comments! And yes, Monique- I am VERY lucky!

  5. Hi Fiends! I just came home from a trip to Aulani! It still has a few bugs to work out given that it is only a week or so old at this point, but it was WONDERFUL!!!!! I have written a few articles on it and thought I would share them here with my camping loveys

I will start first with the important stuff

    FOOD!

Seriously, Oahu's state scent has GOT to be roast pork and plumeria. Makes you want to eat and lounge around with a sweetie ALL DAY! Lots of pictures!!!!

    Aulani Restaurant Reviews

    I hope you enjoy!

  6. Wow...you are making me hungry!!!!! I had a birthday dinner dinner at Coral reef once...I was disappointed. Perhaps I should try it again.

You're killing me! You know I started back on my "healthy eating" thing this week.

Special Request: Post some pics of Pop- I've never been there!

I'm sure Dan will post some, but LOTS of pictures here

  7. No- that is clearly a different PP. But, still a WTF!

Heck yes, that is the same hippie! Did you take this photo? If so when? Maybe we need to start keeping track of this hippie.

I am by no means an expert on hippies. Because I avoid them at all costs. But, I think some hippies have money. They run hippie lettuce operations.

I say this is a hippie.

And we need to watch out for him.

But, I have to admit, the guy is a snappy dresser.

    TCD

I did not take this picture. A friend did this past April and when I saw yours I thought they were the same person and I went hunting for the photo! It was taken in MK and she was very stealthy about it B)

  8. DH's theory is that it all relates to tongue weight and the deck being up front.

With ATVs at approx 700 lbs and GCs at approx 900, figure that most people looking for a hybrid because they want to tow something lighter (i.e., don't have a lot of towing capacity on their vehicle), that means a good chunk of their primary market probably can't handle that much tongue weight towing with the platform loaded.

Well that makes perfect sense!!! Geez, I feel better now- thanks! That thought never occurred to me since we have a big 'ol suburban that will pull just about anything. I like the hybrids not because of weight but because they have the tent ends! I love the tent feel of my pop up...I'm just tired of popping it up!

    :yourock:

  9. Last May I stayed in site 2007 alone in a tent. Shortly after arriving I was greeted by an approximately 4 ft long black snake. It had just come from the banks of the canal and slithered under a bush. I tried to get a picture but by the time I got my camera out it was completely hidden. I hadn't set up yet...not sure why I didn't ask to move. I took it as a garter snake and left it at that. I only saw it one other time. It was near the banks again. I thought it was wet because it was glossy looking. I'm wondering if it was that Indigo snake!? It was quite large and not scary, so maybe?

  10. Call Amy at Midwest RV in Dayton OH, not sure what Toy Haulers they are selling but she will give you a great price, be very honest and ships all across the US and CANADA. 937-236-0200. Tell her "GRUMPY" told you to call

Thanks! Ohio is not too far away!

Ami if I hadn't started renting my 5th wheel I was going to get one of these. There are several manufacturers that make these and for some reason Travelstar quit. Not sure if there just wasn't a market or what because all they did was take a model they already had and put the deck on.

My favorite of the makers, btw they still make them is the KZ brand called Coyote Rock Climber. They make several sizes. I saw this one on Ebay. KZ IMO made the best of these if you are using them to haul motorcycles or golf carts . They have the spotlights and a more rugged look. If you guys get serious let me know and I'll keep an eye out. Unless you really want new I'm sure there are some good deals out there.

Oh, and btw I DO NOT claim that this is an expert opinion. I'm just going by asking people with these how they like them and they all say I love it and am very happy so I'm just passing that on.

I really like the KZ's too. Only 3 floorplans but they are well thought out. I think your opinion counts as expert!

We didn't have one with a front deck, but we did have a Kodiak 21' hybrid for 5 years and LOVED it!

2 adults, 3 dogs and a good time was had by all.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Thank you! That was one of the first types I came across. It has a sportier look and I like it. The one thing that concerns me is, the new models no longer have the option of a cargo deck. I'm curious why that might be. Kodiak and Starcraft both look like they've discontinued the toy hauler version. Now the only ones I can find with 2011+ toy hauler models are rockport roo and the Kz. We aren't necessarily looking for "new" but it does give a little peace of mind knowing the companies thought continuing those models was a good idea.
