  1. We will be taking our 1st trip to Disney World in September. We have 7 in the family, 1 -16yr old, 1-9yr old, 1- 7yr old (she will be turning 8 while there) and 3 yr old twins...(5 girls/1boy)..We will be staying at Fort Wilderness Campground in the RV. Looking for any tips or ideas of what to expect while there. We are new to the RV and need as much input as we can get. Please give us ideas even if you think it is dumb...we might not have thought of it.

Should we stock up on the bug repelants?

Would a mosquito deleto be in order to bring (we don't plan on every day at the parks)?

Should we request one area over another (loops)?

What will crowds be like at this time..should I pack extra tolerance? :>)

We are leaving from the Phila area, mapquest says it's a 16hour drive.. anyone know if that is close?

What are the fun things do on a rainy or off day from the parks? We do not have a tow vehicle and $ wont be there for a rental?

Any help would be great...thanks in advance!!

  2. Was wondering if there is anyone that takes along their large dogs on vacation. We have a 14month old St Bernard (110lbs) who would love to come with us but we don't know if we should! To board him here would cost a fortune and he would be so far away. I know they have kennels at Fort Wilderness but, are they big enough for him or should we consider keeping him in the motorhome while we are at the parks. We would love to hear from anyone with large K9s and how they do it.

Also what about the heat for a large hairy dog like a Saint. Are the kennels there air conditioned?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  3. I am knocking on wood while I am typing this but....

I am curious as to how Fort Wilderness Campground at Disney World handles hurricanes and the guests/campers? We will be there Sept 14-21st which is still hurricane season right?

I have read posts on the other boards and understand that WDW is very good to the guests during these times.

Guess I would be a little worried about being in the camper should trees start falling and such! Although it would make an exciting ride!

  4. On our next trip to the fort we will be there for two weeks, we are thinking about renting a car for some of the time we are there. I haven't rented a car in... well A long time. I need to haul 7, 3 adults 4 kids (11-5) so, guess I need an suv or minivan. What is the average cost per day/week there, if anyone knows. Or can you tell me what rental car companies serve the Fort? I understand Disney has a car rental location as well, do they rent their own cars or is that where the rental companies are?

    Next,

Since we will be towing our cart down, do we have to park the trailer in the overflow lot or can we keep it at the site instead of a car? If we get a rental I would much prefer to leave it in the over flow lot to get stolen rather than the trailer!!

    The trailer is 5x10.

    Thanks for your help!
