  1. I told INC about this new system and she went on a rant.

"Wow, they're really getting stingy with the pop.  Come on people, it's coffee and pop!  They probably get it for free anyways.  How many millions did they spend on this system, just to keep us from getting too much pop?"

Just so you don't think I'm the only bitter person in my house.

I said the exact same thing to my hubbie. Alot of effort, money and technology to prevent a few ounces of cola. Next thing you know, it will only dispense XX oz, if it doesn't already.

  2. We are booked for the Dream in September for DH's birthday and will be participating in a fish extender exchange.  Just curious, what has been your favorite FE gift?  I don't want to do just candy or whatever for the gifts, but something neat or useful.  I'm kinda crafty, so I could make something.  I've googled FE and looked at Pinterest, but have hit a creative brick wall, so to speak.  So, I come humbly to the experts in all things Disney to see what FE gifts they got that was memorable.

On the same note....what's been stuff you practically threw away as soon as you got it?

  3. Welcome!  I'll be back to post a few more thoughts but have to head out for a doctor's appointment.  We also have a T/T and I'm mom to 2 kids, one of them special needs.  We've been camping for 2 years now and are weekend campers to the Fort about every other month.  Didn't want to not say hi, but do have to run...be back and post later!!

  4. I just put this on the "I am...." thread but it deserves its place here as well:

AC...True! True! True!  I *LOVE* this!  I have always been a football fan!  My dad used to take me and grew up with SEC football.  I am not sure my husband would have married me if I didn't like CFB!  Don't call on Saturdays and be mad if you don't get an earful of ringing cowbells!!!  Can I 'borrow' this? Love to post on my FB page!

  5. As the oldest state-chartered university in the United States, we cannot help that others copied us.

Well said, Kelly!  They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?  I'd rather be a Dawg fan than a Black Bear or Rebel or whatever they call themselves!

  6. Glad to see the change for ressies at the barber shop!  It's been 3 years--but we haven't been back after DD's first hair cut!

I do see on the BBB website there is an age limit. The last time we were there (in March), that's what our FG-in-T told me.

  7. We've done both the Barber Shop and BBB.  The Barber shop is great for dad, boys or the first time hair cut. I'll be honest, I cried b/c the barber cut too much off my DD's hair and I thought she looked more like a boy. I was aiming for a 'trim' for the experience of having the first hair cut at Disney.  I did not do this for my second DD.  Yes, the certificate and ears are cute and all, and have sweet pictures of the whole thing, but  maybe it was just the stylist we had.  There are no reservations and it is first come first serve. Must get there early otherwise, plan on waiting.

As far as the BBB, I did do the whole kit and kaboodle with both my girls.  Yes, you can save by already having the dress and accessories and we'll do this the next time.  I would have $60ish dollars ready  for the hair and nail package, not including any accessories that she decides on.  Because no hair is being cut, the Fairy Godmother in Training is not licensed as a cosmetologist.

BTW, the FG-in-T we had said that some mamas have also had their hair done to coordinate with the girls.  It's not limited to just lil ones!

  8. Bus driver leading "the wheels on the bus" song on the way to Downtown Disney. Yea I am a kid at heart and hubby didn't claim me.

My husband has started this a few times, for our 2 and 4yo. I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me anymore when he draws this kind of attention to himself. With kids, you are not looked at as weird nearly as quickly :).

Lou, thanks for the info. As a former CM, you learn so much about the parks, and I have to say that the eight years with the company, including 5 in Guest Relations, I learned something new!

  9. I am *finally* starting to feel human again...just as I start to surface back on FF.com, our crew gets hit by an awful croup viral infection. Oh.my.gosh. It's taken us almost 2 weeks to recover. It's not leaving me much time to get ready for this weekend or Halloween in general. The past two weekends have been a bust with either mom and another kid sick with a flu like crud. The GOOD NEWS is that we should be certified decontaminated by our Friday check-in date by the in-house microbiologist.

Unfortunately since my girls have been out of school so much, I really can't pull them out for Halloween at the Fort. I know my older daughter also receives her ESE services at school, and it has already be disrupted enough. I hate that we will be missing ToT at the fort, but it will all be ok.

With that said, I didn't see any event (if one was planned) on either than 28th after the wine tasting. Not to say that you can't come if you don't have kids, but I would love to get together maybe Friday or Saturday with other FF kids. Mine are 4 and 2. I did see the Halloween schedule for the fort, but not sure that they will work for us, given their younger ages.

I've requested the 1700 loop so if you see a white Shadow Cruiser (in blue) TT, please stop by. I don't have a FF sign (yet....one of the many things on my honey-do list) but do have some purple mingos that will be debuting. We also have a Musket Mickey on our slide out.

I very much look forward to meeting ya'll in a few days!!

  10. I finished mine awhile back and used the 6" globes because I thought the 8" ones looked too big. :rofl2: As long as none of us has Mickey lamp posts side-by-side they should all look great.

I was too anxious to let my paint dry hard also! I haven't tried to take it apart so that may be a problem for me. I do have some touch up to do on the pole from now.

My grandsons and everyone who sees my lamp post is so impressed! It's so tempting to pretend it was my original idea.

I'm having a problem finding a base. Walmart never got ANY umbrella bases in this year. Home Depot and Lowes were both out of them. I can't find anything to use. I think I may have an old Christmas tree stand packed away with Christmas stuff. I may be forced to dig it out and paint it. Or I could find one on Amazon so I could get that heavy thing shipped for free.....I just thought of that.

Almost forgot: I got a "Y" socket in the electrical department of Home Depot for under $1 so I can add two bulbs. Haven't tried two different color ones yet but I plan to experiment.

I have had a hard time with umbrella bases, too, MM. You can do a special order through your local Publix for one of their umbrella bases. $19.99 I think. They don't carry too many on hand but can easily order them. It's in their outdoor catalog---ask Customer Service to place an order. Good Luck!
