  1. At what point (in days) does it make sense to get a season pass instead of multiple day passes. We are not Florida residents and we usually get five day passes. Some years we come 2 times but the last 2 years we have only come once. I've heard occasionally Disney offers more than 12 months for the annual pass, is this true? Are there certain times of year they offer deals?

  2. My eggs came out good on our griddle plate, and I cheat by making my bacon at home, then heating/crisping it up at camp.

You already probably know, but you are supposed to fill that silver pan under the burners with water before cooking.  I didn't know that the first trip.  Read about it before the second trip.   It made clean up a lot easier.

Maybe your regulator is set too high?  I can adjust my burners so nothing burns.  One was too low, I took it apart and I think there was some dirt in it.  Put it back together and both work the same now.

That's a good point on the regulator, because I have really been impressed with the cooking power of the roadtrip. It cooks really fast...

  3. Nice job!

But to be a smart a$$, you could've just gotten a griddle plate/s for the Road Trip!  B)

I do have a griddle plate for the roadtrip. I have the one for 1/2 of the grill. But what I found was it didn't work well for cooking bacon or eggs. The eggs because I couldn't turn the flame down low enough to keep from instantly burning them. Bacon produced too much grease, making a big mess and contributed to flare ups .

  4. The regulator is part of the gas bottle adapter that is removed for transport or storage. Here's a link to a picture on the company website. You can see the regulator on the right hand side. The brass fitting is a quick disconnect of some sort.

I converted my Blackstone griddle to connect to my rv propane source. This one was not as straightforward as the Coleman Roadtrip because in this case "off the shelf" fittings were not available to convert the metric threads on the griddle to standard npt threads.

This is what the end result was. I'm not sure if I'll stay with the 90degree or go back to a straight.

I had to remove the fitting, shown below in the lower right of the photo, from the griddle.

I had hoped to find a fitting I could just replace it with an convert it to 1/4"npt thread and move on. Even amazon didn't have one.

So I cut had to cut approximately 1-3/8" off the gas pipe to remove all the metric threads. Then used a 1/4"-18 tap to cut new threads.

This required a 2-1/2" long brass pipe with male 1/4" npt ends.

Then install the elbow and male quick connect fittings.

I used the "gas service" thread sealing tape on all connections. However, when I performed a leak check the connection where I cut new threads had a slow leak. I used gas service thread sealing paste and that worked. The gas pipe is a metric size, so the i/d may be slightly larger than standard. The o/d appears to be suitable to use a die to cut 3/8" threads and then use a 3/8" to 1/4" fitting instead.

I got the quick connection, the elbow and 1/4"-18 npt tap from amazon. Everything else came from my local hardware store.

Another item of note is the hole where the gas fitting passes through the side of the griddle is small. The original gas pipe will not fit through it and standard 1/4" female fittings will not either. So final assembly of the modified gas pipe will need to be done at the griddle.

  5. We have stayed on "the inner" 1400 loop several times. We like it because the inside of the loop has no campsites, so our kids play in that area with other kids and because of the low number of campsites on the loop the traffic is light. However, if you have a large camper some of the sites may be difficult to get into due to the shape of loop and the location of a few trees. We got our 42ft 5th wheel in without a scratch, you just need to a spotter and be patient.

  6. I figured it would go through the little bottles fast. Since the regulator is not on the grill itself I was planning on adapting it to run off the trailer's external gas line we use for the grill.

This is what I typically do also. I have made adapters for multiple other propane devices. However, this one seems to have all metric threads for connections and this is making it difficult to find fittings to convert it to the standard rv propane quick disconnects. Looking like I may be required to thread my own adapter to make it work. It's required to adapt M8x1.0 to 1/4"npt.

  7. I like that. In fact enough to run over to our local WalMart and not a one to be found. I even risked asking and getting that "You've got to be kidding. Me help you?" look. I'm kind of jealous y'all seem to get these deals yet they never show up around here.

I bought one of the small Blackstone griddles a while back from our local BJ's warehouse store for about $75. I have to say it's great, if you find one, get it. My only complaint is it uses up the little disposable propane bottles quickly.

  8. My father used an ecv on a recent trip with us and we never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus. However if you have more than one person in your party that uses an ecv it may take longer. Our grandparents both used ecv's on a trip while staying at the Contemporary and did have to wait at least once to ride together to either ak or hs. They also had to some difficulty joining us for a dinner at trails end

  9. Does anyone have knowledge of software to log and track maintenance on RV. Like to be able to log everything in software rather than my own Excel file , Thank you

I use the paid version of "Auto Care". If you use apple devices it may be a good option. Service reminders can be set on a mileage or time basis or both. I use it to track mileage based maintenance on my vehicles and time based maintenance for my home such as air and water filters. Also, if you have the app on multiple devices with the same Apple ID, such as phone, iPad, MacBook etc, all information appears on all your devices and can be updated on any device.

  10. We were staying in 1400 loop while this group was at the fort. We saw a significant amount of wild golf car driving by this group. Carts driving/racing side by side NASCAR style in front of 1400. Also, we were nearly run down when one of these people did a "full speed" u-turn in the middle of the street with no regard for on coming traffic or pedestrians.

Eventually there was a significant security presence to restore order. I don't know if the fort called in overtime for security or they were just more visible, but we did start to see plenty of security as the weekend progressed.

  11. I am encouraged by this fry news.

For a long time, it seemed like the plan was to serve the same fries at every WDW restaurant. That's how we lost the steak fries at Trail's End and The Plaza.

I can't recall any place on WDW serving waffle fries, so this is great news. I am not a fan of the generic Disney fries

This past week we were at MK and noticed many people around Golden Oak Outpost with waffle fries. So they may be serving them as well now.

  12. On this short of notice, I'm not sure if Kenny at Tee Time, can help you, but give him a call and find out:  407-516-4571.

Renting from Tee Time will require you to travel off property to pick up and return the cart.  The round-trip is about an hour on the day you pick up, and again on the day you return.  That's an inconvenience for sure, but it doesn't sound like you have any better options.

    TCD

    Thanks for the recommendation

  13. We will be at the fort February 12 - 19 and wanted to rent a golf cart. Apparently it's pretty busy because we've never had issues renting from FW before but we were told that for half of our stay all carts are reserved.

I have read some on here use offsite rental companies and wanted to get some information. I'm really interested in info on cost, personal experience, p/u drop off process etc.

  14. Hmmm... that's interesting.

So, if this is the case... then I'm not understanding the cargo capacity on this one rig.  The axles are rates at 5200# each.  The GVWR on the unit is listed at 9995#.  Dry weight on the sticker was 9039#  and a cargo capacity on the little yellow sticker of 956#.  Dry weight plus cargo equals 9995#... which is under the 10,400# that the axles can carry and the hitch weight was listed (it was something like 1600#).   So, I don't get it.  Now... again, GD said they were going to bump up the GVWR to 10,995# without any modifications to the rig.

That is weird. We have a Grand Design trailer and it also had an error on the sticker for weight ratings, though ours was the other way. The sticker listed 7,000# axles, but the wheels were only rated for 6,400#. They are sending us a "revised sticker". Even with this we still have plenty of cargo capacity and have overall been pleased with GD. They typically are very responsive to customers. We had an axle seal issue and they paid quickly to replace all 4 brakes and axle seals.

  15. So the hitch weight is not carried on the axles?  The GD we were looking at, the tag shows the same axle rating (5200#)... so the camper and cargo is 10,400 max and I get the camper weight by dry weight minus the hitch weight?  Is that correct?

You are correct about the hitch weight not being carried by the axles. Your tow vehicle supports the hitch weight when connected and the front jacks support this weight when the tow vehicle is disconnected.

  16. What brand do you have and do you ever have any problem with it loosing signal?

I have the furrion "observation" camera. I chose furrion because my camper came with a mount and power wire factory installed. The reception is good, it occasionally will lose signal very briefly when wind and rain are really bad or passing under a relatively low bridge but by no means impacts the usability. I have a longer rig approx 42' 5th wheel towed with a f350 crew cab long bed. So my camera and receiver are at least 50' apart.

Note, furrion makes two versions of this camera. A backup and an observation version, I've heard of people having issues with the b/u version if left on for long periods of time. Also, typically camper stores are higher priced vs amazon, but I asked them if they could do better, and they gave me 20% off which easily beat any online pricing I could find.

Overall I really like having the camera especially on the highway for changing lanes and of backing. However, even with the discount I still felt it was very expensive, but it does work as advertised...
