Bienvenue!
Only 10 days! I am so excited for you and your family! Is this your first trip to the Fort or Disney World?
My first trip to Fort Wilderness is still months away, sadly.
My husband and I went to WDW and the Disney cruise in 2003 in our honeymoon, we will celebrate our 13th anniversary on august 9th will we're on site :) . It will be the first visit of my son and he will turn 11th on august 5th while we're there :) . It will be a first at the Fort. I'm so excited.
p.s. It's in 9 days now

Welcome to the group!
Walmart camping rules are largely influenced by local ordinances. Have you considered stopping at Pilot/Flying J or Cracker Barrel?
Thank you very much everyone!!! I didn't know about Cracker Barrel. And what is Pilot/Flying J ?

In 10 days we will be at the Fort ...Yeah. And to ad to the exitement...we change the pop up for a travel trailer yesterday!!!!
so I have a couple of question for you guys.
1-we are from Quebec, Canada so we will be driving for 2 days. We plan on stoping to rest in a WalMart. My question is do all Wal Mart accept rv staying for a night?
2-here we have lots of bitting beast (mosquitos, fly etc.) is that a problem at the fort? Should I bring a truck laos of insect repelant? Insect really like me and my son
3-if we ever run out of propane, is there a place to refill at or near the Fort?
4-we will be in a prefered site is there a loop you recommand? I was thinking maybe 300, the sites look larger...we have a awning on one side and a slide out on the other.
5-since we just bought the travel trailer (will have it in the driveway on saturday) I don't know if we will be able to bring our bikes. So my question is, is it possible to walk to the settlement post and marina from the prefered loop in a reasonable time? We don't want to rent a cart because of the cost...
so that's about it. Sorry if I have lots of question, it is our first time at the Fort. And also sorry if I made some english mistake, it is not my primary language.

The random measuring I've done indicates the size listed is the concrete pad
Thank you so much!

I know that Norm has a pop-up, but what about you other guys.
With my pop-up, I don't see the point of leaving the AC running all day long when I'm not there. When the sun is beating down on the camper and it's 90+ degrees out, the AC struggles to keep it cool inside. I see no reason to leave it running full blast if I'm going to be away all day. That can't be good for the AC unit.
Once the sun is low in the sky, the AC will get my camper cool in 15-20 minutes.
So, in the summer, when we leave the site, I shut the AC down, and it doesn't get turned back on until we return to the site.
TCD
We also have a popup, thinking we'll do the same thing as you do ...

By the way, do you guys leave the a/c on always or you shut it down during the day when you're not there?
I know it's a silly question but DH says we should turn it off in case there is a thunderstorm or something and we are not there.

I'm not worry about the heat and all. Been at Disney in august and september so I know what i'm getting into. But the 24 hours drive will be a first for us, but should be just fine (i hope :) )

Hi! We made the trip in to days but let me tell you that it is the last time we do it that way. Oh boy !we gad over 3 hours of trafic delay around Washington.... It took us 30 hours to get here in total. But we are very happy now, the Fort is perfect, loving it.
