That's how it read to me too, but IIRC the last time something like this happened they specifically told people they had to get themselves and their RVs out, no ifs ands or buts, and anyone not leaving the area was directed to go park their RV in MK lot.

I would hope they would take this approach again.  Allowing people to leave trailers in the campground invites extensive damage that is avoidable and unnecessary. Getting the people out will assure their safety - moving the trailers to a big open parking lot will assure they minimize damage to the resort. I don't see why they would leave them in place at the Fort.

  2. Perhaps I missed a comment to this effect along the way, but was there a massive spike in prices initiated for 2018?  We are just approaching our first trip (and likely only FW trip for quite some time), so I have little basis for comparison, but we are paying $100/n for a premium site over Halloween this year.  The numbers being thrown around here surprised me and caused me to look, finding that even lower demand weeks (early November, early May, etc...) are up to over $135 per night for a premium.  That seems like a huge jump from what we are paying this year.  Is there something I'm missing?

  3. Allow me to ask one follow-up question...

I will be covering about 550 miles on some of these days, and on one day will lose an hour due to the time zone.  Do you all have experience with many of these campgrounds with late arrivals.  With it being the offseason, and a strong possibility that I may not show up until 8 or 9pm, do I need to worry about showing up after registrations offices are closed, or can I assume that everyone will have some sort of system in place for late arrivals?  I've never faced this issue before, so I'm not sure what I can depend on.  Thanks!

  4. I am hauling my trailer down in late October so that the DW and kids can fly down and meet me there for 9 nights.  I am driving from SE Wisconsin (I-65 to Chattanooga, I-75 the rest of the way).  I'm planning to divide the 1,300 miles into 2.5 days each way.  So, I'm looking for stopovers.  I'm hoping for places that are not too far off the interstate, with easy pull-throughs (I'll be alone and arriving after dark).

Here are the general areas (there is some flex)...

    1)  Louisville, KY area

    2)  Tifton, GA area (I saw some references to getting down to Valdosta, but that could make for a long day)

    3)  Between Atlanta and Chattanooga

    4)  Somewhere north of Indianapolis

If anyone has any recommendations, I welcome them!

If one of you wants to stay behind and give out candy while the others go out, great. If you want to get out early for a bit of time, then spend the rest of the evening at your camper giving out candy, great!!

Thanks for the info, everyone - we are looking forward to it.  Hopefully we can meet some Fiends along the way!

  6. We are extremely excited that a 7-year dream of hauling our camper down to the Fort will finally come to fruition over Halloween this fall (with our kids - 12, 11 and 8).  With this in mind, however, I'm looking far any tips and tricks I can get about Halloween...

    • How much candy should we bring along (I've been reading horror stories about all of the non FW guests and locals crashing the events)?
    • Is it the general practice that one parent stays back to distribute while the other escorts the kids?
    • Do we need to line up early to be able to see the cart parade?
    • Are there any other tips or tricks you might suggest?

This is, quite possibly, the only camping trip our clan will ever take to Disney (we are DVC, and the 1,250 mile haul is just too time-consuming), so we want to make the most of it.

    Thank you!

I just called and spoke to a manager. He assured me that even if its not listed on the calendar, trick or treating is happening on Halloween. They just don't know the exact time yet.

I truly hope this is true.  We have been dreaming of getting our trailer to FW for 7 years, and have finally found a way to do it next year - with the intentional plan of being there for Halloween and allowing the kids to ToT at the campground that day.  It would be really disappointing for them to miss Halloween at home and not be able to ToT at FW.
