  1. Well I've decided to have it shipped here and hopefully it will arrive by 12/14 and my DD can bring it down with her when she flys down on 12/14. If it doesn't come by then I will have my mom mail it down to me at the fort a couple of days before we get off the boat so it will be there waiting.

Fingers crossed that this will work otherwise I will need a cage for my girls :rofl3: I still may need one anyway.

  2. Has anyone ever shipped a box to the Fort? We are going to order a screen room for our new camper and it takes Jayco 3wks to make however we leave on Dec 12th. I was thinking about having it shipped to the Fort. The one hang up is that we don't check-in til Dec 22 and will be on a cruise from 12/15-12/22 so there's a good chance it will get there before we do. Any advice? Suggestions?? I thought about having it shipped to my parents and then having them ship it down a couple of days before we get there so it would be there on Fri 12/21 but they are not very reliable so there's a good chance it won't get shipped.

Ugh! I really want this to help cage keep my twins in or atleast slow them down.

  3. Good now I will tell my husband it's all your fault :kickinass: cause you said so...

Wouldn't that be awesome for keeping those adorable twins of yours contained for short spurts while you cook or shower?

Your funny :rofl3: the only way possible to keep those two contained is a cage and it must be a very strong one with a roof and a lock and key. Those two give me a run for my money every day.

I've wanted a screen room since I saw TCD's it really add's extra floor space. They are really expensive so I've been trying to find one for cheap on craigslist.

The canvas isn't too bad I've actually seen worse and after it was cleaned it looked like new. It's all the water damage from the roof that would be bad.

  4. Ok, so I have an addiction to craigslist :'( my DH won't go with me anymore.

So I found this little beauty on there tonight

    http://madison.craigslist.org/rvs/3305361313.html

I'm sure there's some massive water damage but if anyone is handy they maybe able to fix it. Tenting can be replaced or depending on the damage it might just need to be bleached and then re waterproofed. I want the screen room for our camper.

Ack! I will not email, I will not email, I will not email......shhh...too late

I'm gonna need a new home any suggestions?? :hugsmiley:

  5. I agree with you about the toilets being too small and we always use the CS at the fort cause they are so nice. TMI alert!! :wave1: you've been warned..

A bucket works for the top end however for the bottom end a bucket won't do and unfortunately for us both top and bottom come together :flush2:

I could stock up on astronaut diapers?? :rofl2: But well that's just icky....

Sorry for the TMI but I warned you!

  6. Thanks everyone I'm pretty happy with my find.

Congrats on the popup. Your post yesterday got me thinking and I found tent/popup sites available (albeit at $92 per night). Sometimes, I wish we had something small like a popup or truck camper rather than our big trailer. It costs so much to tow it and we have to slow down that it takes us much longer. I looked on Craigslist and found a truck camper for $800. Showed it to DW who immediately shot that down. Oh well, I still have a tent...

LOL! I always point out the benefits of pups to my wife...our first RV was a popup many moons ago and I loved it. She likes the trailer we have now. We're keeping the trailer.

Same here! Yesterday I was looking for a site and they only had partials and I thought, well if we still had out popup…….

The other good thing about it was I could actually take off with the boys whether my husband could come or not. I cannot hook up and tow our TT alone.

You guys and gals are right pop-ups are super easy maintain and you can fit them pretty much anywhere. Another thing for us is that we only really camp at the Fort(I know shocking)so I can't see having a big trailer and maybe even a loan on something that we don't use very often.

My main concern with a pop-up though and this is a big one is no bathroom. I know the fort has great bathrooms but every time we go on vacation my kids or I get sick :barf: (remember last year??)and the thought running to the bathroom in the middle of the night makes me want to stay home.

    So I've been watching this:

We might go look at it this weekend :jumpforjoy

  7. You can use your sink on a pop-up site.

All you need is a portable container to hold the water that comes out of the drain, and a hose to connect to the water hook up.

    TCD

Yea I know but I'm lazy and don't want to drag it all the way to the comfort station to empty :flush2: . If all I can get is a pop-up site I'll take it though this late in the game I can't be picky.

I talked to Judy today she had just left for the fort. Lucky :heartsmiley:

She said she had about 10 other ressies that she was still working on to get the rest of their dates for the holidays, but she did say she thought she had a pop-up site available so we will see.

For now we are planning on being at the fort from 12/22-12/31. I would like to stay til the 1/2 but I think I might be pushing my luck with the schools.

  8. This weekend I saw an ad on craigslist for a 2002 pop up camper for $600. There were no pics and the ad said AS IS so I thought maybe some tree fell on it or something else. So I sent a email and she sent dark grubby pics and said nothing was wrong with it but some mice made a nest in it and chewed holes in the canvas on one bunkend. So we went and looked at it and this is what we found.

    photo-2.jpg

This thing is in perfect working condition with the exception of about 8 holes in the canvas with the largest being about the size of a 1/2dollar. It even has a slide out. I couldn't believe the price I asked her 3 times so $600 is all you want?? It even has new tires. So needless to say it is now sitting on our camper pad.

We went today and looked at a hybrid toyhauler (gotta have a golf cart) and the salesman offered $2600 trade on the pop up. I don't want the toyhauler that we looked at but it was good to know the approx. value of the pop up :clint:

PSA on craigslist: You GOTTA post pics!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I skimed over this ad cause it didn't have pics.

  9. I can get a pop up site for the holidays to show up on the disney website but I really want a full hook-up site so we can use our sink.

Ugh! maybe I should just book it and hope that something else pops up.

I haven't heard from Judy yet...Does anyone know if there is a good time to call her?

I agree...Judy is your best bet. She has pulled sites out of .....well, thin air. Let's just say that.

And I hope you DO get a site for Christmas...as we will be there!!!! Would be great to see y'all again. Maybe we can do a Christmas version of TITWIT.

SITWIT? Santas In The World Intoxication Tour

YITWIT? Yuletide In The World Intoxication Tour

HITWIT? Holly In The World Intoxication Tour

Or Spectacular Holidays In The World Intoxication Tour.....what would that be?? :rofl2:

That would be cool! I didn't realize you guys were gonna be there at christmas.

I agree with Nicki and vote for SITWIT.

We will probably be in FL for sure at the MIL so a day trip certainly wouldn't be out of the question

Yea!! a day trip would work!

Life's been really crazy here but I do stop in to read trip reports when I get a chance. We did get a camper this last weekend :jumpforjoy but I will post about that in another thread.

  10. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to snag a site for x-mas of this year??

Long story short my bonehead DH failed to tell me that we are shutting the plant down for the week between x-mas and new years so now we can stay in FL longer(going on a cruise Dec 15-22). He found out about this back in July and thought I already had ressies for the fort so didn't tell me :banghead: .

He is now living out back in the doghouse but don't worry he has plenty of straw and old blankets to keep him warm. :kickinass:

So I'm sure there's no chance at all but thought I would ask incase somebody know's of a secret way.

    Thanks,

    Janelle

Update: I finally got our site for the whole trip! We will be checking after we get off the boat on Dec 22 and staying thru Jan 3 I think. :jumpforjoy

After my craptasticl day which I'm pretty sure shaved a couple years off my life this is great.

  11. I agree with you Lou! Way more people on the rides than the bus. However I can't tell you how many times I've seen some kid licking the poles on the bus :dropjaw: and they're not my kids doing the licking  . But for whatever reason we stopped getting sick when we started driving and not using the buss.

I agree with you Monique! We touch nothing! I've been known to take the paper towels from the bathroom and use them to open the doors on the way out so I don't touch the doors. There's nothing worse than hugging the porcelain throne on vacation.

  12. Very cool updates...I love the totem poles. In fact, you've given me an idea for my next trip. I am going to climb one of those suckers and get my picture taken up there.

I would pay good money to see this happen! :batman: However I agree with Carol they would probably rot and fall over. Dave and INC are you gonna be there next Thanksgiving again? We decided to go next Christmas cause we can stay for a longer period of time.

Maybe someone should "borrow" a couple of them(the totems) then we could all "share" them at our sites for all to enjoy again.

  13. Wow great find!! The sad thing is we rode right past those things on horseback the day before and I didn't see those or the wagon. I guess my DH was right I'm not very observant.

We have eagles up here too. Two winters ago we had about 30 eagles along our little river that runs through town. They drew a lot of attention from all over the state.

Great pic of the older TCD DD at the fort! How old were the twins on their first trip? Have any pics??

  14. OMG Dave!! You are a genius! Why you might ask?? I can't tell you how many times on our trip that my kids lost their damn headphones for the dvd player. The sticky hooks on the windows are genius! I cussed and swore about those things the whole trip.

That video is too cute! Your girls are so beautiful and they are really great kids too. They were so awesome with my girls :heartsmiley:
