  1. PACampers...where ya at in PA? We're getting quite a group of representatives from the Keystone State on here. We'll be at the fort the 27th until the 9th, and are hoping to catch the launch, too. Let me know if you're coming down 95 the whole way, and I can give you a construction report, seeing as how we'll be a couple days in front of you.

Oh yeah...welcome to the board, too!

  2. I want to take my girls to see the launch. Have they firmed up a date yet? It was originally set for June 28th, but I know it's been pushed back at least once. I think it's around July 8th now. If they move it much more we will have to miss it... >:(>:(

  3. We do need to start firming up some dates. We will be there from June 27th until July 9th, so it's not a matter of "missing something", just planning.

BTW...Jen...I will laser-etch a wooden photo album with a Musket Mickey or the Fort Wilderness logo or something that looks nice, along with the date and you can chance it off to one of the attendees to make a couple of dollars to help cover expenses if you want. Let me know. I have several in stock but I'm busy with weddings and graduations this time of year so I'll need to work it in soon.

  4. We might be up for a get-together at J&D. It's only about an hour from home. My girls love Knoebels. It's a great family park. The camping right at Knoebels is a little too crowded for our liking, but J&D is just down the road. I find it's less of a battle with the kids if you can remove them from the park at times, anyway. Watching and hearing the rides all the time can be a little too much stimulation sometimes. It's no fun if you can see it but you can't ride it...constantly!

It would all depend on timing and work schedules, but if we find it do-able we will be there. We are always up for a weekend trip!

  5. We bought a battery operated fan at Wal-Mart. It takes 8 "D" batteries and is about a foot in diameter. I'm actually quite happy with how well it works. If the dog is in the trailer, we leave it on to keep the air circulating. We always stop back during the day, so that should keep him cool enough until we can rectify the problem.

That's the plan. We have never actually tested it to see how well it works out, and hopefully we will never have to.

  6. Outside speakers? Our 5er has a dual amp Rockford Fosgate "Rock the Box" system installed. They factory installed 4 speakers on the outside of the trailer. I have never turned the system past "4". I don't think I want to be inside if someone turns it to "10". I really have no idea when you would ever use that much volume. I will apologize in advance just in case my DD6 decides to play with the system and flips the "outside speakers" button. If you are in the site to our right, just yell and throw someting at us...we'll turn it down. Actually, you'll probably see DW or me running for the control panel. Gotta put a lock on that thing...

  7. Looks like we picked a good time to visit the fort, and a good time to find this board!

We'll be there June 27 - July 9.  Hopefully we can meet a few of you.

I'll have to order one of them there signs with the bird on so y'all know who we are.

Does anyone have a list of "attendees" and what site/loops they may be in?

Our big fiver will be in a premium pet loop somewhere...

Stop by.  Say hello.  Try out DW's new fancy-schmancy frozen drink maker... :parrot:

  8. We will be there June 27th - July 9th.  Hopefully we get to meet a few fellow fiends...

We've been to the fort before, but we're new to this board.  Can someone help us out...

How do some of you know ahead of time what loop you will be in?  We know we'll be in a "premium pet loop" due to bringing the puppy and pulling a fiver that is bigger than my first apartment, but we have no idea which loop we will end up in.

Do you request a certain favorite loop and cross your fingers, or do you have a "connection"?

  9. We switched from a class C to a fiver after our last trip to the fort.  The DD's (4 and 6 at the time) chose to sleep on the converted dinette table, which quickly became a real p.i.t.a.

DW came to the conclusion that "we need something bigger".  Who says size doesn't matter???

I made the mistake of letting her shop without adult supervision.  She came home and proudly announced "Yer gonna need a bigger truck..."

She had fallen in love with a 40' Fleetwood Formula toyhauler.  Hey...now the girls each have their own bedroom!

The 2500 Silverado suddenly became a 3500 diesel dually crew cab.  With an 8' bed, it's not unlike parallel parking an aircraft carrier.

We wouldn't go back to the class C, for the room issue alone.  We also like being able to drop the fiver and have the truck to run around.

Class A with a dinghy?  Maybe some day.  But we love the set-up we have for now.

  10. If you're going to Rushmore, take the time to stop at the Crazyhorse monument and museum.  The monument is still "under constuction" (for lack of a better description) but there is a lot of history in that entire area.  I just love exploring around the Hill City SD area...
