  1. We do have  Dollar Tree near us.  I will stop in and see what they have left.  I also have those paper lanterns from them too.  I wasn't sure about bringing them but maybe I will.  But I am thinking if I have to put up the awning when we go to the parks what am I going to do with the lights that are hanging on the awning each time?  LOL   That thought just crossed my mind, when we camped last weekend we only left the site to walk around the campground.  We had perfect weather the entire weekend (complete opposite from our 1st visit there where we had 2 storms per day that were intense ... read awning up, awning down, awning up and so on LOL)

But the paper lanterns would be nice hanging off the front window rock guard.  I might be digging out at least 2 this afternoon   :thumbsup2:

I have at least 1 Halloween solar light leftover from I think 2 years ago, never used.  But it would be nice to put a couple more by the ghosts (michaels) and pumpkins (funkins).

    Thanks for the ideas!!!

  2. Me again.   :10220:    Figured I'd use my old thread since it was sort of related.  My Mom found that Walgreens (drug store) had put put out Disney items this week starting Monday. Apparently not all stores though and it the stuff she was finding was actually leftover from last year and they had discounted it.  She found short stakes that have Ghost Mickey or Pumpkin Mickey.   She found wall decals that were originally sold for 2/$5.00 and paid $1.49 each.  These she found in Mickey gang and Tinkerbell plus she picked up a non-Disney one that I think said Happy Halloween or Trick or Treat.   We took stuff to the trailer last night so I peeled off a butterfly from the Tinkerbell one (real Halloweeny huh? butterflies are so scary! LOL) and stuck it on the wall paper and it held.  We will go back tomorrow to drop more stuff off and I will recheck the butterfly.   She also found treat buckets that were $0.99 that had Disney characters on them but when I went back they were already sold out.  She found what I think is cardboard decorations that are completely glitter on the back and 99% glitter on the front with the exception of the Mickey (character) faces, hands.  They are meant to hang and I believe those were also marked down.

When I stopped at my local Walgreens i did spot a Minnie scarecrow that went with our Mickey but I didn't think to check the price.     Another thing I spotted but I suspect not to be marked down was the Minnie pumpkin lights.  They had Mickey one a few years back and the Minnie one this year is probably the same size and it looked like a fabric poka dot bow on her.  She was $14.99 according to the photo my DH sent me.

We're gearing up for the Fort.  We did a Halloween weekend at our local KOA and had a great time. Now we just need to pack up the clothes and a few groceries and we'll be ready to roll again.   Oh and Target had cheap plastic orange dog bowls in the Halloween section that had pumpkin faces.  We don't have a lot of room/allowance for Halloween this trip but we'll have some Halloween spirit going on   :jumpforjoy

  3. Thanks Grumpy and Grandma!  I haven't put in a site/loop request yet but that helps knowing that if we do get over that away we will have no issues walking the leggy one to run of some energy. I think if the little one sees a lizard it will be enough excitement to result in a full afternoon of napping  ;-)

    Thanks!!!!

  4. We will not have a golf cart.  So what happens if we are in say the 900 loop which looks to be a ways from the dog bark.  Is there a walk way that dogs are allowed on to get to the bark park?

and while I am thinking of it, what about running with a dog in the mornings along a path/trail?  I sure do not want to wake anyone with morning running if a puppy catches sight of us from a window.  or if I go by myself.  But I figure if I go by myself I will be out on the main sidewalks away from the campers (?)

My Fort experience is 1 Hoop de Doo, maybe 3 or 4 visits to Trails End and a Haunted Hayride.  So I am using the Google Earth loop info to try to get a lay of the land for sidewalks and dog bark.

It's getting close.  We are counting down!!!!

Any Fort and Pup advise is always welcome.   (Any Fort advise will be gobbled up!)

    Thanks!!!!!

p.s.  I wrote down those vet names/phone numbers. That was on my list of things to do.  BIG Thanks for those  :)

  5. I finally made it to Hobby Lobby this summer. I knew they would have fall stuff out and am worried I am late on this. I found a Mickey Scarecrow about 2ft tall I guess and he was $24.99 but we were able to go online on the phone and get a coupon to bring it down to $14.99. They also have coupons available thru the phone app but I have yet to download the app to see what it's all about. there is a Minnie but I wasn't crazy about her and didn't want to push my luck with hubby. LOL. Had she been in a different shirt she would have come home too. :). There were 3 Minnie's and our Mickey was the last

oh and they are more fabric than say the typical leave outside scarecrows. I think he will be outside only while we are at the site. I'd hate for him to get messed up in a shower. He stands on his own with weighted felt (?) covered shoes.

now I just need a funkin or 2 just for camping ;)

  6. I get the impression I lucked into grabbing a AAA discount as someone cancelled?   The reason.  I've had these October dates since March I think and we asked for AAA rates back then and nothing was available.  In fact, we were suppose to travel in January then between my job and DH's job we switched our dates to Feb, March and even April (April only last 1 day  LOL).  Finally i said we'd both prefer Food & Wine with Halloween decor and that was that.   On none of our previous dates did we get a AAA rate.   I think by dumb chance I got one last week.  But hey I never dreamed we would grab one.  I'm pretty excited about it  :)

Just a few more months of saying ..... "I can't wait!!!"    I'm looking forward to the "I'm too excited to sleep"  :)

  7. I just doubled checked our Oct trip (Premium site)  and the lady I spoke with was able to apply the AAA Discount.  I hope, I'm still waiting for the email confirmation  :)    But it seems it was 20%.   YAY!!!!  It wasn't there when we made changed to Oct  so I am super excited.

  8. Thanks Kelly, Monique and Nikki!!! Glad to hear that its not a big deal to park at the site and drive to the parks, if we find that we have a lot of kids active in our loop then I might park it at the main lot. The bike ride won't hurt us but it is nice to know we have options. If it ends up raining a lot then I definitely will park at the site and not worry about driving in and out.

Monique, I've caught most of your posts related to the "kids" including the removal of the bunks to make room for the crates. I have filled that idea away in the 'next camper' folder ;-) I'll be sure to add something to the camper with a number. We've been enough times that returning for walks and play time works well with us.

The girls mouse ears and Disney bandanas are already in the camper. They have toys bought just for the drive/trip hidden away waiting :) We have a collapsible bowl for the dog park and walks. I'm not sure but their packing list might rival mine! LOL

    Thanks!!!!

  9. Thanks all!

We reserved a premium site so does that mean I can walk the girls on the sidewalk to the dog park? I wasn't sure if they were restricted to specific trails within the Fort. We have 'dogs' noted on our reservation. So perhaps I can request loop 500, a quick flip thru my trusty Fort Fiend app shows the sites to be mostly with landscaping which hopefully will be good for noise insulation. They'll have a radio going in the trailer when we are not there and hopefully they will be so worn out they'll be sound asleep the entire time :)

Ken, we've been quite a few times to the resorts. Perhaps we will use the buses and monorail from time to time but I like the idea of having the car at the park for a quick retreat if we get a call that our old girl is barking at shadows nonstop ;-) Lately she is not disturbed when the mail is delivered or we get the mail (the box is metal by the front so you hear it) so perhaps she is mellowing in her old age :) They are both couch potatoes when we are not around but I'd still rest easier knowing I could be there without having just missed the bus. I have run for more buses than I care to remember LOL Though I do have fond memories of a bus driver teaching the bus how to remember the 7 dwarves names and he might have had us singing too. I've had a few wonderful drivers along the years :)

  10. When I read about the Fort and people going to the Parks (Epcot, H.S. and Animal Kingdom) I see most use the buses. I would prefer to drive to the parks (boat to MK). Could I park in the main lot up front and just bike back & forth to the lot? Is there a place to secure the bikes?

The Dog Park. I figure the dog walk trails all connect to get to the dog park? But I'd prefer to hear it from those in the know. We won't have a golf cart so I would like to confirm that we can easily get them to the dog park even if we are the farthest away from it (we do have a premium site reserved).

    Thanks!!!!

  11. Thanks for the suggestions. Tonight went a little faster than I had planned and left me with no "fun time to plan the trip" time . Grumpy&Grandma, thanks for pointing out the sloping aspect of the sites at the KOA. I had read about a hill going in and out of it but the review didn't mention anything about the sites and I had visions of playing doggies :) Cherie, I read last night a post where you had mentioned the Harvest Moon and it wouldn't open for me last night and I meant to try again but I guess that will be tomorrow now :) I'll check those others out.

I'm so glad I read about the Eagles Roost and keep seeing/hearing good things about it :) Sounds like it will be a nice place to stop.

I don't want to go to bed (whaaa) but I am being reminded it's a school night and I'm not at the Fort yet! LOL

    Thanks!!!

    Diane

  12. I have seen many posts on the Eagles Roost and the pictures Mouseketab has with the trees is just so pretty that I believe that will be our 2nd night stay on our way to the Fort.

So it's night 1 that has me stumped. The KOA Renfro (KY) has a K-9 Playground which sounds like it would be a nice place for the girls to work off some energy before beginning Day 2 of travel. Has anyone heard anything about this campground?

Or any recommendations between Michigan and the KY/TN border for a night stop with dogs?

    Thanks!!!!!

    Diane
