  1. Had a similar problem, the bunkhouse and bathroom lights stopped working suddenly. Turns out the screw-down terminal on the circuit board for that circuit had nearly corroded away completely. Luckily there was an unused terminal left on the board so I just transferred to it. At the same time I realized my outside extension cord was starting to fall apart (the molded plug was coming undone, made all sorts of nifty zapping sounds) so my dad and I pulled a new cord through and hooked it up. It turned out to be quite an education, especially for my father (an electrician).
  2. When you call the main front office number, I believe the initial recorded message does say something along the lines of "thank you for calling Fort Wilderness operations".
  3. We did bring groceries, a whole suitcase full of dry goods actually. Really helped cut down expenses. What we couldn't bring, the camper rental folks picked up for us ahead of time. And like I mentioned, my brother-in-law arrived a few days into our week and was able to help us (especially with beer :doublebeer: ).

  5. Thanks! Actually that was taken on the beach, while waiting for a boat to go over to MK. It was a gorgeous afternoon in the 80's, which hurts to think about today back in Pennsylvania, where it might have topped out at 60 degrees.
  6. Here are the kiddos on the beach, it was their first experience with tetherball ;-) I'll post more when my wife evacuates photos from her camera.
  7. We just returned from The Fort, our stay was in the 1500 Loop from the 18th-25th. First off, we had a great time and are looking at early 2014 for the next trip (this was our second Fort trip). Couple of observations and minor criticisms. Might help others who are planning. - Fort Operations - we used the Magical Express from the airport to get to the Fort. No problem there. From the front of the campground a van took us to our site (we had a rental pop-up). When leaving, the Magical Express service doesn't include luggage pickup, so I had to arrange that with Fort operations. Lucky for me, I
  8. OK better late than never! Here is the one and only pic I have of our campsite. We just booked our next trip to FW, which is going to start April 18! This time we are renting a pop-up from Fort Camper Rental. We got a tremendous deal on airfare, and it made more sense to fly down and rent than to take the Auto Train from VA and bring the tent this time. When the kids are old enough to handle the trip, we'll tow the TT down. We are very stoked for this trip! We had originally planned on waiting until November, but good airfare deals can be hard to come by, especially at our little regional airp
  9. Thanks to all for the replies. I'll get pictures posted soon, my only free time with two little ones is later at night after they're asleep! Disney sent me a survey today about our FW experience and I did relate all the comments that I brought up in my trip report. We're looking to book soon, probably for early May. Dblr - I am located close to Harrisburg. We really like Gettysburg, mainly for Halloween camping but meeting some FW people around Easter could work out for us. Let me know.
  10. My family (wife along with our 3 and 1-year-old) spent the week of 11/11-11/18 at the Fort tent camping in the 2000 loop. It was great! It was our first time at FW. We did go to Disney in 2011 with our daughter, but stayed off property. We've been camping since we met, and started with tenting, bought a pop-up, and more recently bought a TT. Because our kids are so young, driving from PA was out of the question. We still wanted to camp (we visited FW in 2011 and decided then and there the next trip would be a camping vacation), so we took the Auto Train and brought everything with us that way.
