  1. Just for curiosity I just plugged in a request for a Contemporary Garden Wing One Bedroom Suite during the first week of November.  That's where we always stayed during the 70's - 80's before we got our first RV.  Back then I distinctly remember paying $145.77 a night during the summer.  Now that same room is $1,260.16 a night in November!  Then the room was a bargain.  It was a little less in cost than two regular rooms in the Garden Wing and was three + times as big.  We had a huge bedroom with a king-size bed, it's own bathroom, a living room with two sofa beds, a full kitchen, and another huge bathroom.

BTW, $12,246.64 would pay for the fort for 136 nights at $90/night.  Also at an average of $90/night, a full year at the fort would cost almost $33,000.

You could take the $12, 246.64 and buy a camper, maybe a new popup or maybe a used travel trailer!  Just saying! ^-^

  2. Just thought I would post this for someone who doesn't know (like me) that there is a Disney Gift card to buy for use in the store only!

I was a little concerned when I read a Post by someone (don't know where or who  now)that some of the Disney Cards could only be used at the Disney Store only. I did not realize this.

    What I learned:

Can't decide what to give? Give the gift of Disney Magic with a Disney Gift Card. It can be used at Disney Stores across the U.S., online at DisneyStore.com, as well as select locations at Walt Disney World® Resort, Disneyland® Resort and Disney Cruise Line®. And you can personalize the Gift Card with your favorite photograph. For instant delivery to any valid email address, choose our DisneyStore.com Online Gift Card. Online Gift Cards may only be used at DisneyStore.com.

I did not purchase my Disney Cards online but they have been bought at Walgreens & Disney Store(not online) They all say same thing on the back of the card,  can use at Walt Disney Resorts, Disneyland resorts, Cruise, Disney Store, DisneyStore.com.  Some  do say on the top(the top that you tear off from the card) you can play, dine, shop! But they still read the same on the back!

  3. I'm with you! Born and raised southern by my Grandparents eating plenty of homegrown foods! I made fried chicken, gravy, biscuits, mashed taters, mac and cheese, bread pudding with lemon custard sauce last night- ALL HOMEMADE! Definately not a meal I could eat everyday though. We all just kinda layed around afterwards. :)  :)

LOL! Yes it does kind of stick to your ribs! LOL! Don't guess we would be able to walk and see much of Disney after a meal like tha either! Especially ride! LOL!

  4. I just priced our next WDW vacation with our son, DIL, and their four children.

We're paying an average of $90 per night at the fort without figuring in the AAA discount which we hope to snag.

The cheapest alternative is $765 a night at Saratoga Springs.  The only other option offered is $1749.52 per night at AKL.

They are going to stay offsite but we're adding them to our reservation so they can use the fort anemities.  I wouldn't want to stay at Saratoga Springs ... too far away ... and not fond of staying at AKL either.  Can you imagine paying $12,246.64 for a week at AKL?

No, I cannot imagine spending that much! I like Disney but if ever I spend that much I am not going to do it at a  Disney World resort. A Cruise, Hawaii ,some place with beautiful islands! Maybe!

  5. BTW, thanks.... now you made me look into it, and now I REALLY want to go. How many days do you stay? Do we need more than one?

We've camped at the KOA there and liked it.

We liked KOA too. But for some reason it is a little higher. It does have some pull thru sites for really big rigs, though.

I think going to Dollywood can be a good week end trip and anyone would need at least 1 day for Dollywood and 1 day if they go to  Dollys Splash Country. But Pigeon Forge has alot of other attractions, shopping and restaurants,  if you want to spend the time and money. If you don't want to spend more extra money but want to stay longer than a weekend, we always enjoy fixing a cooler of sandwhiches and drinks and taking off across the mountains exploring the creeks and trails. We enjoy going to Cades Cove for an afternoon sometimes.

  6. We usually camp in Pigeon Forge at the following:

    KOA http://pigeonforgekoa.com/

    Clayboughs http://www.claboughcampground.com/index.php

KOA is a little higher than most of the Campgrounds in this area. I do not know why! They all seem about the same to me. But we usually wait around to the others are not available and camp at KOA , paying a higher price. This year I was a little smarter and called ahead and reserved Clayboughs.

These are in Pigeon Forge and near Dollywood, restaurants, shopping, other atractions,  etc., We rarely camp up in the mountains without the water and electric. Just isn't really my thing! We  prefer to camp in Pigeon Forge and just drive up into the mountains and hike, wade the creeks, picnic or whatever, then return back to our camper with some conveniences and a pool

We only live about 1 hour from Pigeon Forge  so we get the passes every year to  Dollywood and Splash Country. The last few years we've camped over Memorial Weekend.

There is alot for the children to do even small toddlers.

  7. So, according to this photo it's actually $3 for 0 ozs of soda? What a deal!

Hmm! What shall I do! Buy one drink for $3.00 or bring a carton from Walmart!LOL!  I guess they have 0 ozs so they can sell either the large or small for the sme price! LOL! Just depending on what they have to sell that day! LOL!

  8. We ate here in 2011 and it was pretty good. Some in the family liked it better than I did. My daughter and her husband ordered a big juicy steak that looked great! They loved Tonys! My husband ordered their pork chops! He liked Tonys! We had a adult Menu left on our dining plan and actually ordered my GS the Chicken over noodles(Don't know what was called) He liked Tonys! I ordered the Lasagna because I thought their specialty was Italian! I love Lasagna but Tonys was a little dry to me! I ate some of my GS chicken(He was just 2) because he couldn't eat an adult portion. It was better than my lasagna! We all ordered something different for desert! ,I don't remember them all,  Brulee & my grandson just got icecream, but I remember we all liked the desert!  We liked the atmosphere of Tonys and we had great service and a great relaxing time. It was nice after a long week and our last night to be waited on! I just didn't like the Lasagna as much as everyone liked what they ordered!

  9. I always eat at Sunshine Seasons! Its crazy with people coming and going! LOL!I love it!  I ride soaring! I eat here either before or afte the ride! I always get a good affordable meal, something other than a hamburger, always find a table! In fact the food is as good or better than some of the table service reservations I have made in the past.  One of the few places at Disney to get a free refill on drink!   I'm not a  person who usually gets a desert with the meal but I can't say no to the strawberry shortcake at Seasons! Its good! I have read they have a good breakfast, too!

  10. There are some decent sit down places at HS....we really enjoy 50's Prime Time.  But I've never found a CS place I care for in that park.  Although some of the sandwiches at Starring Rolls look ok.  We usually either hit 50's, or just get snacks like the carrot cake cookie, and then eat a meal later after leaving the park.

Thanks! I have read that the 50's prime time is good!  I will keep that and the sandwhiches in mind for next time!

The time that we were at HS and  made reservations we did the Hollywood & Vine for the characters for GS. If we do the Pizza place next summer we'll never get GS(4) out of the arcade! Last time he was 2 and we were able to surround it! LOL!

  11. We usually eat at Pecos but for the hamburger and all their fixins bar.  I always think the Taco Salad looks great but usually I'm tired & hot and usually just order a burger and something cold to drink. But by the end of the week everyone is looking for something besides a burger! LOL! So this could be a nice addition for someone. Its just that usually we eat here for their burgers!

  12. Have you ever noticed that the more expensive you eat the smaller the food! Especially the desert!  Maybe its just me! LOL!  I am a southern girl whose grown up used to grandpas own country cured hams & grandma's mouth watering homemade biscuits & gravy, fried chicken, blackberry & rubarb cobblers and apple stack cakes and all the fresh vegetables you can eat out of the garden! Now that was Yummy!  LOL!  Wish I had one of her biscuits now! LOL!

  13. We ate here in 2011 and again October 2012. There is not that many great places to eat at HS. Maybe someone can enlighten me! LOL! But ...its OK! OK enough that we ate here again. Its not going to be as good as Pizza Hut but as good as our $5 pizza from Little Ceasars.  There is plenty of seating outside, downstairs, upstairs  and a good place to rest for awhile in the cool. There is an arcade! That could be a good think or bad if you can't drag your children away from it! LOL!  We like to eat upstairs where it is a little quieter and restrooms are upstairs. I don't usually get desert but I was on the dining plan and I had a great cupcake/orange colored icing they had special for Halloween!

  14. I have wanted  to eat here and my husband never ever will. I have actually made reservations and had to cancel them before! We have different views! I look at it as a place to make reservations  that won't cost you an arm and leg!  My husband says he is not going to eat & leave a tip for a place where he is just going to eat a sandwhich or burgers when he can eat about the same thing out in the parks without a tip! LOL!
