  1. Here's a quote from his FAQ:

Why does it cost so much?

Well, RV's are expensive. The cost is comparable to the cost to reserve a cabin at Fort Wilderness. It is also comparible to the cost for two hotel rooms. The Fort Wilderness camping experience is unique.

Has this guy even looked at what it costs for a cabin? Hell the cost per night is as high as a cabin is during peak season then you have to add the peak campsite rate. NO THANK YOU.

  2. The one big problem with this itinerary is no Castaway Cay.  That would definitely be a disappointment. The other problem is that the 12 weeks it is in Galveston are during school which makes it tough for parents with school age kids. Still nice to have them within a half a day's drive for at least a little while. I debating doing a Thanksgiving 2012 cruise. I have till tomorrow to make up my mind for the 2 cabins I've booked.

  3. This news just absolutely rocks. :D

Disney to start sailing out of Galveston in 2012

More cruise magic is coming to Galveston.

Disney Cruise Line will announce Wednesday morning that the Disney Magic will sail 12 seven-night cruises from the Port of Galveston to the Western Caribbean beginning Sept. 22, 2012. Ports of call include Grand Cayman and Mexico's Costa Maya and Cozumel.

Rates for the seven-night Western Caribbean cruise itinerary departing from Galveston will start at $840 per person for a standard inside stateroom, based on double occupancy, according to a Disney news release. One travel agent said not to expect sales for passage aboard the ship that sleeps up to 2,700 passengers.

"Mickey does not go on sale. That cheese is way too expensive," said Steve Cosgrove, owner of Dallas area Dynamic Travel.

Disney's Magic will join the Carnival Cruise Lines' ship called Carnival Magic, which begins sailing from Galveston on Nov. 14. Carnival's Triumph will also begin sailing out of Galveston on Oct. 6. Carnival's Ecstasy and Conquest now sail out of Galveston but will be repositioned to New Orleans.

Royal Caribbean International's Voyager of the Seas also calls on Galveston. And in December, Princess Cruises' Crown Princess will also sail out of Galveston.

Meanwhile, the Port of Houston Authority's $71 million Bayport Cruise Terminal still doesn't have a ship regularly calling on the facility that was built in 2009.

Cruise lines are more interested in sailing out of Galveston because its downtown shopping, hotels and Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark appeal to travelers while the closest major tourist attractions to Bayport are Kemah and NASA, said Cosgrove.

  4. I just took advantage of Carnival's most recent 72 hour sale and past guest pricing to book a 8 day Western Caribbean on the Freedom sailing from Port Everglades on June 4. I'm using the excuse that it's a graduation celebration for my oldest daughter finishing high school this year but you really don't need an excuse to go on a cruise in my opinion. The itinerary includes Cozumel; Limon, Costa Rica, and Colon, Panama. There are also 4 sea days which I just love. I had planned on driving to Fl but did a search on air fares and discovered that Spirit is going to start flying out of DFW again in May, just in time for our cruise. It's actually going to be almost a wash between the cost to drive with a couple extra nights in hotels and the cost for all 4 of us to fly with Spirit. Not to mention I won't be spending 2 days behind the wheel.

  5. If you ever are in or near Tokyo and have a free day I would have to rate Tokyo DisneySea as a must see park. As Whip mentions Tokyo Disneyland looks a lot like Disneyland or Magic Kingdom. DisneySea on the other hand is a wholly unique park. There are only a few attractions that you will find in any other park, at the moment I can only think of Tower of Terror and the Indiana Jone Ride (not the show). Then there is Hotel Miracosta located inside the park. Next time I'm there that's where I'd really like to stay. Bottom line though, DisneySea is a must see if you are ever in Tokyo.

  6. My favorite attraction was the BraviSEAmo! show at Tokyo DisneySea. This was by far the best show I've seen in any Disney park. Alas, they ended up replacing it with Fantasmic of all things last year. I like Fantasmic, but BraviSEAmo! was a better show and I can't believe they replaced it. It was just another unique aspect of DisneySea and I sure hope they aren't headed down the path to make that park look like any of the others. There are actually several unique and very good shows at DisneySea.
