Happy Halloween everyone. We just got back from our yearly rounds. I will miss it when the kids don't want to go anymore.
We really enjoyed this park and I hope you have seen enough to entice you to visit. It will become a regular stop for us.
Thanks for reading along! YensidCamper...YC...Eric (and Family).
I feel the same way about Halloween, the time is approaching when our oldest will be more interested in just hanging with his friends than going with us . Amazing how fast time is moving along.
The picture above is my favorite of the set. I love the composition and the color of the leaves. Great job!
This was an excellent report. Thanks for taking the time to share it!

Now you tell me.
You would think they could have put up a sign or something.
TCD
Funny! I would have fallen for that one if you hadn't written about these bad boy hand drying machines on another report in the past. I don't have as good a memory as you, but I'm pretty sure it was on some other site. :)
Love the pictures of the restaurant. Did you see any recognizable VIP's?
-
Awesome start!
I've received email invites from that site for their rally's in the past but have never been able to go. We love RV and watch it several times a year. The kids love the "Big Rolling Turd".
Looks like we are in for a great report!
By the way that Coleman "inclined" camp chair is the best. It is so much more comfortable than the normal camp chairs.
-
Awesome update Dave!
Love the corn kernel box. And you're spot on about the kernels getting everywhere.
The tractor pictures are great, and I'm not sure why, but makes me a little sad.
The picture of the "butt" (as my kids call them) of the corndog is classic. Well done!
-
Awesome TR as usual.
Who else saw the hidden mickey?
Nice catch! I'm the worst hidden mickey finder there is. I never would have seen that.
TCD, great updates as usual. The details in the Ariel ride are really outstanding. I'm still recovering from the backside cast member shot :)
Looking forward to more updates.

Great updates! I love all the hiking photos. I'm surprised by the lack of wildlife during your hikes.
I've only played disc golf twice, and I was awful. There were some players that we saw that took it very seriously, complete with long yardage and short yardage discs.
Can't wait for the morning photos!

Looking forward to this report. I've missed the recent cruise TR due inactivity so I'm ready for this one.
Can't wait for more.

The Bulletin Board of Useless Information (or since we love acronyms here the BBUI) :
Wait a minute, you say . . . There is a lot of information posted there- it can't all be useless.
Can it?
Let's look.
First, we have this letter warning that Fort guests are at risk of being mauled by bears:
Note that letter is dated August, 2012.
According to a recent report made right here on ff.net, they actually came around the loops and distributed a similar letter just a week before this.
We checked in just the day before, on October 18.
Do you know what information we were provided about bears in our check in documents?
Did anyone guess we got no information?
If so, you are right.
We got nothing. No letter. No nothing. And the bulletin board on the 400 loop comfort station didn't have a copy of the letter posted.
I don't know. Call me funny. If there was current information about bears roaming the Fort, I think it should have been posted here.
But, that August bear letter wasn't all that was posted on the BBUI. There was also this helpful notice about Construction in the parking lot:
I think this was from a couple of months ago too.
There wasn't any construction going on in the Outpost area this weekend.
Then there was this very elaborate two page letter providing information about a running event that might cause some disruptions for WDW guests:
As you can see, this all related to an event that took place on September 29th. This was October 19th.
In defense of the BBUI, not all of the information posted was that out of date. This time guide, for example, was just a week out of date:
See what I mean?
Was there a single useful thing posted on the BBUI?
No, there wasn't.
That's how it got its name.
In just a few minutes, breakfast was ready, and I woke the girls up to come out and eat. Here's what we had:
That's scrambled eggs, sausage and tater tots. For some reason, it is a tradition for us to have tater tots for breakfast when we camp. I don't even remember how it started, but we do it on every trip. The pumpkin plates were courtesy of Mrs. TCD. We always camp in style thanks to her.
Love the BBUI. I visit it on every trip also hoping to find some classics. I have to share a picture I took in October of 2010. It might just take first prize as far as useless information goes :)
Notice the date on this flyer 2009!
That breakfast looks awesome! I'm not sure why, but we aren't much of a breakfast crowd when we camp. I love the smell from the other sites, but we usually have the basics, cereal, granola bars and my favorite pop tarts. I know, pretty boring.

These folks had a sign posted on the party site:
I have seen this group at the Fort before. They usually come for a weekend in October before Halloween. In fact, the last time I saw them, they were here on the 1700 loop.
That sign is interesting. Do you see where they planned on showing an adult film on Saturday night? Wow.
I just love the view from here:
Same place, turned a bit more to the right:
Adult movie? Yikes. Hope they weren't planning on showing it on an inflatable Mickey big screen!
That view is one of my favorites also. I have many photos from that spot and love how they all look different depending on time of year, time of day etc...

Troll, I just spent the weekend reading this report from start to its current update and I have too many comments to post. I will just say that this report is outstanding, in both photos and narrative.
I appreciate the thought and time you put into all of your reports and this one definitely does not disappoint!
Now that I'm caught up I can't wait for the last update.

Wow! This looks like a wonderful place to camp and hike. I'm loving your pictures. Seeing all these pictures and reports of the mountains makes me wish we loved further north so we could enjoy them more regularly.
Great job and can't wait for more.

Nice update, I'm definitely putting the restaurant on our list for our trip this weekend.
Sorry about the traffic in PF. We usually take that route to Townsend and love the drive and scenery.
Looking forward to more.

Thanks for checking in on my report, Tom! We've camped several times in Townsend but I'm not sure I know which place you are referring to. Where is it?
Dave I think it was called Apple Valley Kitchen or something similar. It was right off of 321 on the right side heading toward the park. It wasn't a farm though. It's been over 5 years since we have been there so it may no longer be open.

We purchased a bag of apples...JonaMacs. They are phenominal! Flavorful and juicy...you forget how good fresh apples are. We also bought and enjoyed a few homemade fried pies they had for sale.
Good stuff!
YUMMY! Love those types of places. There is one similar in Townsend (or it was a few years ago at least) and we stuffed our faces with apple pie and cinnamon ice cream.
Can't wait for more.

Male bathroom etiquette...check
Chap Jiggling...check
Nice bass...check
I'm afraid for what will happen to this report over the weekend while you are away.
BTW, the pictures of the guy fishing with the crane and skeleton in the background make me ill. Just not right. And the decorations, wow, just wow. We saw them last year and couldn't believe it.

Wow so much to get caught up on after getting in on the first page. I have a few comments.
1. iPad picture lady, I don't get it. The last thing I want to do is lug my iPad around and use it for picture taking, but you're right, I see this all the time.
2. Halloween costume people watching was classic. You gotta respect people's courage to sport some of those outfits. I'm a lttle too self conscious to participate in that because I know someone would be snapping photos of me :)
3. I've always laughed when I see people gnawing on turkey legs in 90-95 degree weather, but in an air conditioned environment it is totally acceptable. And, they looked very good!
4. What are the two words you never want to hear in the men's restroom? I'll let everyone figure that one out :)
Great report as usual, I can't wait for more.
-
You are getting soft, Tom.
You let a couple of little details like a pond and not having permission stop you?
I don't think the first photo does your SOD justice. The car in the second photo does a good job of showing how massive that thing is.
Where is this?
Oh, and it's good to see you posting!
[sorry for the hijack, Dave, but you have to be used to hijacks by now]
TCD
I know I'm getting soft, that pond scared me a little and didn't look very deep :)
The Cornmaze was in Lakeland and was pretty fun for the kids, even though the weather had apparently affected the corn as it was not very tall. http://www.cornfusionmaze.com/

I'm in. We enjoy the 1400 loop but you are right, that loop gets crazy when the Fort is busy. It's a popular choice for us with younger children due to the location to the pool and campfire.
I'm interested to see how you liked the 400 loop, we have never stayed there.
Can't wait for more.

Very nice pictures. Looks like a great place to visit during this time of the year.
Thanks for sharing!

Awesome photos and report! We love Roaring Fork.
Can't wait for more, we are heading to the Gatlinburg area next week and between you and Dave's reporting, are looking forward to it even more. Hopefully there will be some fall color left to see.
-
Looks like a great trip Dave!
We went to a Cornmaze this past weekend and saw the ultimate SOD. I was excited to try it when pulling up, but both emptied into a pond and were not part of the festival
Can't wait to see more pictures.

Looks awesome!
Is that the campground on the Townsend side? We are going up in two weeks for a family get together but not camping, roughing it in a cabin.
Have a great time!

Great job on this app, and thanks to everyone who contributed the pictures!
This will be very handy for future trips.

Wow, miss a day of reading and it takes forever to get caught back up. I have comments but they are probably not in any kind of order so bare with me.
1 .We saw lots of red shirts at the Fort last weekend as well. We stayed in the rainbow loop (what my boys called it), as there were several rainbow flags and banners hanging from the campers. I have to admit that I am a little naive and my wife is the one who mentioned the flags. I would have never known any different, nor would I have cared either.
2. I would have never, ever noticed the metal mickey on the roof, and we have ridden the monorail many times. Pretty cool.
3. I'm not a fan of the cranes either, but "it is what it is" (just to show you I'm observant) :)
4. The Six Bits meeting was great. We have never taken in the HDDR during our visits to the Fort.
5. The hula hoop contest is priceless, well done!
6. I want to book a weekend at the Art of Animation. That place looks awesome!
Loving the report as usual!

Loving your report! I think the blurred photos of the entrance look really cool, they are creative.
That pretzel roll looks too small for the bratwurst, but I'm sure it was tasty :)
Good comment about the happy place and the 14 days of stress less fun. We always enjoy people watching at the parks to see how many parents look just miserable, especially at the end of the day.
I'm an early riser too and am enjoying a little vacation myself, so what better way to start the day than by catching up on the trip reports.
