  1. I will come find you if need be, you've seen the crazy eyes, I have no reservations about throwing you over my shoulder and kidnapping you for a few days.  I'll even leave a note for Shawn and the kids so they dont worry :)

no need to leave a note...kidnap me please

If you want to come all the way up here to drag me off, I promise not to kick and scream even a little bit.  :heartsmiley:

    Much better.

    Ditto :(

    and her

    um... DisneyLand?!

    DON'T TEMPT ME

  2. I know naught about the origins but I am interested to see how this thread goes...

You get a prize for being the first Fiend, evah, to use the word "naught".

I am full of old words that no one has a use for...and I like them.

I am also interested in this topic.

Last year, I bought and read this book, which focuses on the maneuvering and strategy used by Disney in acquiring the land for Disney World:

It also discusses a lot of the original plans that Walt had for the land-including the idea of building a domed city.

The Magic Kingdom was not even on his radar.

Funny story, along time ago when I was younger, I though Epcot was all in Space Ship Earth.  Boy was I disappointed the first time I came to WDW.

  3. Yeah yeah... truth be told my hardcore spreadsheet days are behind me.

Why is that, you ask?  (ok you probably didn't ask but I'm going to tell you anyway)

    Frequency.

If you know you'll be back to WDW in the not-so-distant future (or in the case of some people, before next week!), or you know you'll be there for a good chunk of time, there's a whole lot less pressure to plan like a maniac to make sure you don't miss anything.

Our first several trips were planning marathons.

Now that we pretty much know we'll be there once a year for a few weeks, the pressure is way off to worry about every minute of every day.  If we don't get to something today, there's always tomorrow... or next year.

These days it's more a list of things to remember to do than a full blown spreadsheet.

That said, if I was going for only a week, or if I didn't think I'd be back for a while, or if I was going during a really busy time of year, you bet I'd break out the ol' spreadsheet again and start planning up a storm.   8)
