  1. Ha ha ha! We were one of those guests last year. It was our first time and we really enjoyed it. However, I had an 8 and 2 year-old. We'd do it again. I loved the cookies and hot chocolate and the performances. Our favorite areas was Captain Jack and Stitch. This year we are going to the Halloween party. We're excited about doing that. When are the dates usually released for the Halloween party?

The Christmas party used to be a tradition for us, but it's been a long time since we've gone. As passholders, there isn't really anything that goes on at the Christmas party that we can't see during a regular MK visit. The prices have gone way up, and so have the crowds.

We still hit the Halloween party almost every year. There are unique things at the Halloween party, and we enjoy the fun atmosphere.

The thing that baffles me about the Christmas party is that they seem to add more dates every year, and despite the high cost and the changes, they still pack guests in.

  2. Sorry if this topic is somewhere else, I didn't see it. Has anyone attended the Tusker House breakfast at 8 am? If so, how much time did it take? I'm wondering if we'll be able to get some rides knocked out early after breakfast or if we should schedule for 10, that way we can get some rides in before the meal?

  3. I've never heard of this.  What kind of vouchers?

I read it in a blog recently. I'll try to find the source. I think Disneyland does food vouchers instead of meal plans and scuttlebutt was that F & W might try to use a similar system since the day can get expensive fast. The information was not thoroughly flushed out with what I read, that's why I asked if there was any truth to it.

  4. Thank you for the insight! In September, are hours longer, like 9am-7pm? Anyone been on Summit Plummet?

I think it's a great idea. The waterparks are fun. Great when it's hot out.

With the age of your children, I would suggest Blizzard Beach. The wave pool there is more friendly to younger kids. The family rides are better, and they have much bigger kiddie areas.

My kids used to prefer Blizzard Beach when they were younger. In their teens, they preferred Typhone Laogone (old ff joke) because of the Crushin' Gusher water coaster and the bigger waves in the wave pool.

  5. Hey ya! Glad to see a fellow Simpsonville-ian on here. We love the fort and our days off were to just enjoy it. I just saw an opportunity and wanted some opinions. I'm sure we can always call an audible and buy tickets at the water park if we feel we must go when we are there.

Hey Tall Lady! I live in Simpsonville! Howdy, Neighbor!

If you are staying at Fort Wilderness, I would say you can find plenty to do there on your "off" days. But that is just my opinion!

  7. Overwhelmed with last year's brochure of the F&W festival. Any recommendations how to tackle it? It's our first festival. However, we are comfortable with staying all dayin the parks. Our toddler sleeps well in his stroller. With the dates we can attend, it looks like we'll have a full-day there on Sat, Sept 20 & we'll park hop (from AK) on the 24th. We'll have an 8 & 3 yo with us.

  8. Quick shout-out to Fort Fiends (and their awesome app)! We got the site we wanted--1619! It's perfect. Wave hello if you're passing through. Quick note to first timers: get a golf cart. This place is huge! Thank goodness for Kenney, as he's working on getting us one in a couple days. Oh and don't let your magic fad from first day adaptation. We had a few frustrating moments yesterday. However, if we figured it's the newness of the environment, the size of this place, and the amount of people, etc. Trails End was great last night. Headed to Epcot today! Thank you to all who helped us plan this trip. My kids are in Heaven! (Btw: kudos to the Christmas lights in 1600--they are supreme. My family back home has enjoyed the photos I sent them. Hats-off to those campers!)

  9. This was the first trip faxing a request didn't work for us in about 6 years.

When the woman told us what site they'd assigned us, I knew it wasn't going to work (inside of 300 loop) and fired up the Fort Fiends app quickly to confirm.

Then she said they were upgrading us to 520 and I quickly looked at the dimensions of the site and gave her the thumbs up!

App worked like a charm!  :)

That's a bummer. But that app is great! Glad you thought to use it.

  10. I can confirm that putting your requests and/or the faxing of your requests works.  Not only did I get the loop I wanted, I got my top pick of sites.

Did you call ahead of time to make sure or just saw when you got there? If you called ahead of time, what number did you use? We called the Fort number today (our trip is 5 days away) and it went to a call center.

We faxed our request about a month ago, along with the online check-in.

  11. Wilderness Lodge, by boat or bus. Then go on monorail to all the monorail resorts. Grand Floridian, Polynesian & Contemporary. Also, go by car if you can to Yacht & Beach Club resorts. Wilderness Lodge & Grand Floridian are must sees.

Or if you don't want to use your car, take a bus to the Studios, then a very leisurely stroll around the Yacht & Beach resorts, Swan & Dolphin too.

    Great! Thank you, both.

  12. TL,  Sounds like you can have a full time at the Fort.  Be sure to keep some unscheduled leisure time to kick back and enjoy the relative quiet of the Fort and to visit other Fiends who will be there.  We will be there during your stay, so look for us.  We have a sign.

Absolutely. We LOVE the sense of community with camping. And the Disney camping experience seems to UP that factor. Thank you all for the tips!
