My first response was from a guy who wanted to buy it as a "surprise" for his family. His phone number was from an adjacent area code so I thought the offer might be legit. Next he said he would pay me using PayPal, which I've successfully used before. When he told me his "mover" would stop by to pick up the scooter after the payment cleared, I figured it was a scam and told him to forget it. He never replied to convince me otherwise. I've heard of similar scams where the buyer wants to pay with a cashier's check which turns out to be fraudulent, but I don't know how the fraud would work using PayPal.
