It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…in Disney World, anyway! And it will be looking even more so very soon!

As we look forward to the holidays in our favorite Disney parks, let’s take a look at when to expect the artful decor to go on display this year. And we’ll look back to the gingerbread displays from past holidays to warm our spirits (and appetites) for now!

These displays will be created by the WDW Food and Beverage team. Sometimes you can even watch the chefs put on the finishing touches! And don’t forget to check out the limited edition Gingerbread Display pins coming out this year!

Please note that information is subject to change.

Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

(Gingerbread House was scheduled to open on November 14th)

As your eyes try to take in the enormous Christmas tree in the lobby, your sense of smell will lead you toward the 16 foot tall Gingerbread House located in the lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort.

It takes over 400 hours to bake the 10,000+ pieces of gingerbread! Last year’s house was amazing, and one of our colleagues snapped some pics of the construction this year! Thanks to Carla at Hoperatives for these!

Don’t forget that you can purchase a treat made from a classic Austrian gingerbread recipe right inside the Gingerbread House!! Freshly baked items will include cookies, ornaments, and miniature houses.

Mini Gingerbread Houses for Sale

Here’s a Tip: Gingerbread House Decorating demos are held Monday through Saturday in front of the house. Check out our decorating video from last year, here!

Boardwalk Inn

A Holiday Gazebo will highlight a beautiful scene made of gingerbread and chocolate. Don’t forget to look for Hidden Mickeys!

Stitch will again be the focus of this year’s display at the Boardwalk, and this year he’ll be selling goodies from his very own Bakery! The storefront will feature a miniature replica of our fave Boardwalk Bakery, except in the scene Stitch has taken over the place.

We’ll see Lilo in the background, and delicious treats will be sold from this store. Each day, cast members will be present while they decorate miniature gingerbread houses for purchase. Stollen bread, Gingerbread shingles, and a Limited Edition pin featuring Stitch and the gingerbread display will also be for sale.

There’ve been definite improvements in the Christmas display at the Boardwalk Resort. Take a look at an earlier exhibit from 2004.

Contemporary Resort

Chefs will create a 17 ft. holiday tree on the 4th floor concourse again this year. Guests will love the holiday ornaments, candy canes, and presents that complete this scene. Look for the hidden gingerbread piece (among 2,000+ tiles) commemorating the 40th anniversary Walt Disney World this year!

Here’s a Tip: This exhibit will include 13 Hidden Mickeys, 136 lbs honey, 211 lbs flour, 101 eggs, 27 lbs spices, 15 lbs sugar syrup, 98 lbs icing, 151 lbs of chocolate and over 2,000 gingerbread shingles! My holiday baking isn’t looking quite as intimidating now. icon_wink.gif

We loved the specialty Gingerbread houses with chocolate monorails running through them last year! We hope they’ll be back for sale!

A classic gingerbread recipe will help create the gingerbread cookies, shingles, and ornaments. Linzer, Snowflake, Chocolate Peppermint, and Butter Cookies will be for sale here.

Beach Club

The Gingerbread carousel is a tradition at the Beach Club during the holiday season. It’s a mind-boggling creation made of chocolate ponies, handcrafted poinsettias, hand-painted chocolate Disney characters, and over 100 pounds of icing. This year, twelve hidden Mickeys will commemorate each year the resort has created the carousel! Look for the mini Gingerbread Castle, too.

Stop by and you may experience a magical moment! Once per day, a guest from the resort lobby will be chosen to pose for a picture in front of the carousel with one of the Pastry Sous Chefs. The lucky guest will also receive a gingerbread shingle created especially for this occasion.

A gingerbread house will be created as a storefront for house-made goodies. Choose (if you can! icon_smile.gif ) between cookies, Gingerbread house kits, Gingerbread houses, stollen bread, and even chocolate covered cookie lollipops! A limited edition pin will feature Tinkerbell and the carousel.

Here’s a Tip: Children can decorate their own gingerbread men in the lobby on Fridays and Saturdays from 2 – 4 p.m.

Yacht Club

The annual Holiday Village Train set will take to the tracks once again! Yes, that’s a sugar rock mountain and village!

Don’t forget to look for all of your favorite food locations along the train route — including Beaches and Cream and the Captain’s Grille!

A limited edition pin with Ariel and the lighthouse will be sold in the lobby, and there may be another new Gingerbread display that’s new this year with a nautical theme! We’ll find out soon… .

Liberty Inn

At the Liberty Inn at Epcot’s American Adventure, Santa’s Bakeshop will be revealed! This house will be made of gingerbread using over 800 pounds of sugar! Christmas cookies along with hot and cold beverages will be sold from the house as they were last year.

(Psst! Last year they had Egg Nog and hot cider here, so if either of those is a draw for you — head to Epcot!)

We’re looking forward to checking these gingerbread treats out for real in just a few weeks! Can’t wait to share with you! And don’t forget to check out our full list of Holiday dining events and treats in Disney World and Disneyland here!
