  1. I wouldn't worry. Keep trying They haven't loaded all the sites as available yet. I never seem to be able to get my Dec ressie till Jan

I called at 7am. No change. The cast member I spoke to said pretty much the same thing you did. He said that not all of the sites are loaded yet and to keep trying. He suggested waiting until the 499th day from our last day there. (Jan 4th) I am just sooo afraid I'm going to miss the boat here...

    :panic:

  2. At midnight 499 days in advance, I attempted to book a premium (or full is fine) site for December 24th 2012....and all that's available are tent sites???!!!! :argh:

    What the heck?!!

I couldn't have done anything different. Waited to the exact moment to book and WHAM!!! FULL???? NO WAY!!!!!

Please tell me this isn't so!

I plan to call at 7am sharp in the morning and hope for better news.....

    Pixie dust please!

  3. I have slightly similar story that yours has made me remember. I got this cute little maltese/lahsa mix. He was the runt and literally fit in the palm of my hand. He was such a small cuddly thing I named him Snuggles (he also looked a lot like the Snuggles fabric softener bear). After a few weeks I notice something on the floor. It looks like clear jello with red flecks in it. There was a drink that looked the same.

My roommate, who'd also gotten a pup from the same litter, and I start checking dogs. Sure enough there was something creamish in color and long hanging out the back of snuggles butt. I got a tissue and start to pull it out. It stretched until it broke, I grabbed some more, it stretched until it broke. It also had more of the clear looking stuff with red flecks in it. It reminded me of wiggly spaghetti. this unsuccessful removal probably went on for about 5 minutes at which point I knew I was in for a night of whining and a trip to the vet.

Sure enough, after not much sleep, I took him to the vet. He had to have a dewormer twice a day for 10 days and be given Karo syrup twice a day for months to help his recovery. When we finally got back from the Vets it was lunch time. I opened the freezer to pull out a frozen meal and grabbed the first box, it was Spaghetti. I took one look, put it back, and I've never been able to eat frozen Spaghetti since. Actually, I prefer noodles that are shaped now or at least smaller than Spaghetti.

Yeah, I feel your pain. I had a spaghetti meal planned for the next night. Couldn't do it. We ended up with pizza sticks from a nearby gas station!

  4. I'm sure it should make sense, but honestly I have no clue.

I've also discovered that I'm too old to be able to have fun on google earth. It looked really cool until I tried going in for a closer look, then it all got fuzzy & confusing.

I was trying to look at the shadows on the ground and the tree outlines in an effort to come up 3 or 4 sites to request where the TT might be shaded. Are there site pics up anywhere else by chance?

Maybe I'll just fax a request asking for a shaded site in 1600 or 1700 and hope for the best...

Like I mentioned, we stayed in the 1800 and REALLY loved the peacefulness of it. We walked past the 1600 loop andit looked real nice too.

Really???? It's the Fort, right? Anywhere is going to be a great site!

  5. Ok, I feel the need to share my puppy story now...

A few years back, my sister had lost her 15 yr old four-legged pal to cancer. undecided.gif As fate would have it, I was walking along a parade route and came across a family with a basket of lab pups. Sign read: "Free - Take Me Home!" The pups in the litter were about 8 weeks in age. Each included a collar, leash,, and a bag of doogie food. Welllllll, who could say no? So, I picked one up, took it home and presented the little girl to my sister. She cried and cuddled with the pup immediately trying out names that might fit.

Well, as it turned out, my sister needed some time to grieve first...so, I promised I could care for "Jessie" until she was ready.

Without further delay, here's the gross part you've been patiently waiting for...

Jessie goes camping with us that first weekend. Sweet, little. chocolate-colored, ball of love...goes on hikes, sits by the campfire, and even cuddles up next to me in bed....

    Ready?

In the middle of the night, little Jessie starts heaving. (you KNOW the sound!) HACK! HACK! HACK! It's completely dark in the camper. I SEE nothing, but instinctively reach out to try and catch the poor little thing's spittle. I know, yuck, right? But knowing I'd be sleeping in a bed that was hacked on wasn't an option, so I quickly comforted her and placed my hand under her chin...

    Here it comes...

As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I could just about make out what upset her tummy...Jessie puked up a huge handful of spaghetti....

    WAIT!!!!!............WE DIDN"T HAVE SPAGHETTI!!!!

Now the "spaghetti" starts to squirm around!!!!! :o

It's NOT spaghetti!!!! It's WORMS!!!! The poor little puppy had WORMS!!!!!!

Anyone want to guess if I EVER fell back to sleep that night? Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle...

(Side note: Jessie was treated and has been a happy, worm-free pooch for several years now!)

  6. Hello HappyCamper and welcome. I was a one time lurker elsewhere now look at me. I'm from Michigan also, where are you located?

Now to throw my two cents in, I've stayed on the 1300 loop but it was so long ago I don't remember much, I love the 500 loop though

    Plymouth-Canton area. You?

Now the 500 Loop...that's not one of those "water main break" loops during Christmas is it??? And, is it doable to walk to the Settlement from there?

  7. Now, about your "stroll along the river" to the pool . . .

Are you saying you walked along the canal, all the way to the 1500 loop, and then turned left and headed to the pool?

That is a bit of a walk!

As for the sites along the 1300 loop canal, since the pool is just across the canal here, you can expect to hear a bit of pool noise, even at night. I don't think that would be a big problem, though.

    TCD

WOW!!! Why didn't I join in on the fun sooner?!! This is exactly what I was looking for!

And, yes, we strolled along the river, past 1600 and 1500 Loops (turning left to follow the water), crossed the street and over the bridge! Really? It wasn't as long as it appears on maps. Maybe a 5-10 minute stroll. (kids=5 minutes...adults=10) Along the water, it was VERY pretty...made the trek worthwhile. Certainly not your 600 Loop convenience, but the sites were nice.

  8. If I remember rightly, the sites by the canal in 1300 are 1320-1335. I don't remember which ones back right up to the canal, however. We've stayed on 1300 a few times, and had sites on the canal. What I don't care for about those sites is they are lit up at night by the pool area. Also - if the pool is really crowded then your peace is somewhat disturbed by the pool noise.

500 offers some sites that back up to the canal & they are really beautiful sites. I think it's 526-530. 1400 has sites on the canal if you like "yahoo" sites - as in - there are parking bumpers at the rear of the site so you don't back your rig into the canal! YA-HOO!!

Thanks for the insight. If night temps are like last Christmas, we'll be the only fools in da pool again. We, Michiganders, did hot tub runs in 20degree temps last Christmas. At 38 degrees, my son had on his snorkle gear on to survey in his own private pool at night. The lights, however, are something to think about...

500 (Yahoo) Loop sounds like a possiblity. How close to the Trading Post and pool would you say?

  9. Thanks for the speedy welcome and tips.

Is 1400 the Big Bear/Little Bear Loop? Are the sites fairly private? (Not worried about us...just the neighbors who'll be dealing with six pre-teen and teenagers!) :siren:

If this is any indication of my devoted sickness, I have plenty of time to hear all of your wonderful tips...

Countdown to book is only 16 days...only 499 more after that, and I'm there! (Darn daughter had to go and graduate this year, so finances are a bit down to do our annual Christmas voyage this season  )

Patiently waiting to meet the Brewmaster...

  10. OK, I'm a lonnnngg time lurker here, and I've decided it's time to stop creepin' and start being a team player.

We have stayed twice in the 600 loop (Sunny Sage Way) and really liked being close to the Trading Post, campfire sing-along, pool, fishin', and the bus stop. The only (tiny) pitfall is the traffic along the side closest to the road.

Last Christmas, we stayed in the 1800 Loop (Conestoga Trail) and REALLY like the privacy and seclusion of the site/loop. We also found a nice way to get to the footbridge to the pool area...just a nice stroll along the river, and "just around the river bend" was the bridge!

Now, MY question is about the 1300 loop...

Is there anyone out there who knows the site #s of the sites that sit along the canal? More importantly, does anyone have opinions about these sites or loop? (We're staying as a group of 10 NEXT Christmas and would like to meet the needs of the kiddies who like to swim, the scouts who like to fish, and the folks who like to stroll through the Trading Post with their morning java.
