  1. Just to clarify:

    TrackSide Camping has several options:

Tent camping, not sure of the cost. The tents are in a seperate area to keep them away from the generators.

Dry camping, $100 for all week. You get a 20X40 site, with quiet hours (no generators) from 12-6.

Sites with electric and water. The 20X40 sites are $200 for all week, and the 30X40 sites are $250 for all week.

As I attempted to state above, the area by the pond are all 20X40 units with water and electricity. Miles tries not to put loud people down there and make it a quieter area. A plus too, is that since all units have electricity, you will NOT hear any generators.

The sites away from the pond are a mix of usage. And people bring all qualities (loudness) of generators. We were put on the fartherest row away from the dry campers and didn't hear one single generator. And Miles puts the party crowd with power and electricity closest to the generators, so they can share the noise.

The honey trucks made plenty of rounds throughout the week-end. In fact our neighbors had 7 people in thier RV and was pumped daily. But they had a larger site like us, and were able to have a kiddie pool and plenty of room for cornhole.

With Darlington's size and age, it is not a track we would consider investing in the infield. Maybe Daytona or CLT, but not Darlington.

Thanks for the info but we still will not go back to Darlington rather it is infield or outside camping. Some tracks work for some people and some don't and Darlington is on our stay at home and watch on tv list we are going to do the all star next year.
  2. Okay lets see if I can get some more in before Sprint locks me up again... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

We went back to our site and had something to eat (can't remember gotta ask the kids in the morn) and then walked around the infield and noticed that the hauler parade was coming and the kids jumped up top to go and see. I got video on my phone I will upload later :thumbsup2:

I was happy when Friday came cause I knew that was the day to visit the fan area and spend hubbys money!!! So we all got up and headed out.

DS was happy to see mini racing cars.. but I think DH was shocked that they only cost a little over 5 grand and now wants one for DS. Mama puts her foot down on that one I don't care how close Dover is we are not putting that boy in racing school or getting him a car and track time!

I was a little ticked that the Bojangles little stands had no out right chicken only stupid sammies and fries.... BOOOOO I was hoping to get a tailgate meal but they shot that one out the water!! So I sucked it up and took a pic by the pace car with hubby and we signed it!!

Just like any other fan zone area Chevy had the race video games that the kids flocked to while hubby and I collected our free tee shirts that only come in XL :sarc3:

That really bothers me how DH always gets all the shirts cause they only come in HIS size :th_2mo5pow:

I guess our Oldest DD got board with the games and decided to take a pic of herself... I must admit it did not turn out half bad LOL

Thats it for now... were slowing down :(

    TO BE CONTINUED.......

  3. OLFC HH51 is a good site. I prefer being on that row. We always try for 54 but it's next to impossible to reserve.

Oh lord you and Dh may be fighting for that site if it's ever available... He loves HH54 too and always keeps calling to see if it is empty!! LOL

Fun so far! Cool sand "castle." Glad hubby got the truck back up and running, too.

Thanks! Those were some tense moments!!

3 inches. Are you kidding?! Did he have a measuring tape? Are the neighbors going to measure?

    Can't wait to read more..

None that I can see but he had no problems with working and zipping around in his golf cart with a beer in his hand... (another gripe I had with the Track) I am very surprised that nobody was killed they way they allow track employees and corporate to drink and drive golf carts in the infield. :argh:

    Yay pictures!

I am feeling very claustrophobic just looking at your camp site square.

Jeff is tiny & cute. Nice find!

The site was 15ft wide by 40 feet long (exact) LOL Our camper is 38ft long and 14ft wide with the slides out :drama:

Ahhhh, I think I felt a force in the air on Thursday while we were locked out! It was Jeff! :clint:

No claustrophobie in our 30X40 site, ahhh the pains of staying off property...... :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

I should have but I hate sitting in the stands... I don't wanna be that close to anyone that is not in my family! Dover is the reason for that with their narrow seats.

Just for a reference, the road you see in the background is Tunnel Rd. The green Port-A-Let you see over the top of the golf cart and the white truck is on trackside camground property (private) across the pond. We stayed in that area last year in a 20X40 site with water and electricity for $200. We moved back up the hill behind the white tents in a larger 20X30 site with electric and water for $250 this year. We paid the extra money in anticipation of taking Savannah (our doberman) with us, wanting more room. The lower lot is all electric, no generators, whoo hooo. The upper hill has dry campers, but quiet hours are enforced from 12-6 nightly.

We walked through the dry camping area while we were waiting forever to get let in and noticed that it was dry camping :(

BY THE WAY FOLKS SORRY FOR THE LACK OF UPDATES MY INTERNET IS ACTING UP :(

  4. We decided to take a walk around and see what Darlington had to offer and saw a helicopter land and we were happy to see that Jeff Gordon was aboard!!

Not great pics but they work!! LOL

We then decided to go back to the infield.. but stopped for a quick pic

    That's it for now

    TO BE CONTINUED.....

  5. Tuesday Afternoon we arrived at Ocean lakes Site HH51 and stayed there for 2 nights (sorry no pics) This was just a stop before we got to the race so we made no big deal about it... plus we had been there so many times before that taking pics was almost pointless!! LOL

Thursday morning we headed to Darlington and got there about 1PM! Now I got a bone to pick with this track (several really) This track is NOT like the other tracks. If you arrive early they let you in and get all set up. Not Darlington nooooo they made us and the other 200 or more infield campers wait until 4pm to get lined up to go into the infield and pretty much let us all in at once. I tried to meet Geina but they locked every gate which made that impossible :(

    3238daa3.jpg

The roads inside were about 10ft wide and they packed everyone in. We got to our site and backed her in and this track guy comes by and says "yall know you are 3 inches over the line on the right" and if your neighbour comes in he may get upset about that but it was up to us if we wanted to move or not so we moved over the 3 damn inches. :gaah:

TO BE CONTINUED.. GOTTA GET THE KIDDOS!

  6. Jess and I had exchanged some messages about meeting up. I asked her to bring me some Yuengling premium from PA, and she gracefully agreed to do that. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet up Wednesday when we exchanged texts, b/c of some locked gates. And I guess by Friday, her issues with Sprint were bad. So I didn't get to meet Jess, hubby and the kids, but hope to sometime. And I didn't get my beer either. I had a present for Jess, some Nanna Puddin by Firefly, but unfotunately wasn't able to give it to her. Needless to say our campground enjoyed it post race.

Your right damn Sprint locked my phone down and Dh's too!! Sorry about the beer... I still got it.. you just gotta come and get it!! LOL
  7. Okay sorry but for some reason I came home and have crappy internet... damn Sprint!!

Well on Monday May 7th Dh and I finished packing the camper and took a long nap until the kiddos came home from school, we all ate dinner, showered up and hit the sack early... but by 10pm hubby had so many ants in his pants that we got up and hopped in the truck and hit the road. Dh must have been way to excited cause he hit the cable box on the way out of the driveway and broke the side light cover. So we spent another 15 mins finding the pcs in the dark and he taped it back together and then we got on our way!!

We made our usual drive past the harbour in Baltimore then onto I-95 with hubby cursing in VA about how they had only 1 lane open ::)

Once we hit the first rest stop we decided that we were going to take a short nap which turned into a 4 hours >:( !

At that point I was so tired of VA that I could not wait to get to NC and to the oasis fuel stop to shower and change clothes... yes I am greedy we parked our camper at the dump station at the oasis and took showers.. there was nobody else there so why not!! After the showers we ate some cereal and jumped back in the truck. Hubby started her up and we got her running but she had no gusto to pull the piper. Hubby hooked up his code thing and it showed Nothing and there were no flashing lights on the dash but there was a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. At that point I could have cried and prayed that hubby would figure out what was wrong! As hubby did circles around the back lot of the Oasis he could not get no power to pull so then I remembered another fiend having fuel pressure issues with their damn chevy and suggested that to DH and he called the nearest Part store and we disconnected the piper and headed there to get a fuel filter thing... or I think that is what it was LOL :thumbsup3: On the way there I looked on my cheap phone for another possible reason and ding ding ding someone else has the same exact problem and it ended up being some stupid sensor so hubby pulled off and got out and messed with the white wire that leads to the sensor and gets out some small crowbar thing and my eyes could have popped out my head as he hit something under the hood :1sm056pullhair: He jumped back in the turned the truck on and lord behold that damn truck had power again!! The damn turbo seized up and thats why we had no juice to pull the piper!! :th_2mo5pow:

We drove back to the Oasis and hooked the piper back up and were back on 95 south headed to Ocean Lakes!!

    TO BE CONTINUED....

  8. Here we go I guess I better get this thing started before I get questioned as to when I was going to do a TP! :wave1:

Now keep in mind I am getting old and may not remember everything but will try my best to pick my own brain and pray that the lil ones help me along the way. This is not going to be your everlasting report either so please don't expect much... more pics then words is the way I roll!! :parrot:
