  1. It's funny, but when I posted about the tour (on a site and on facebook), I thought I would get 30 people at most. I never expected so many to come and I'm just thrilled they enjoyed it! I was VERY lucky to have the help of my husband, CDNCruiser, and his wife Carol! I never could have done it without them!

Silly me, when I envisioned doing the tour, I had planned to do a live webcam broadcast of it as I went along for people who couldn't make it. But people came EARLY and from the first second to the last, I didn't even have a moment to hit the broadcast button. Not to mention, people would have heard me repeating facts and descriptions a lot: "We're now coming to [fill in the blank]. Notice [item], [item], [item]" and then next 20 people, "We're now coming to [fill in the blank]. Notice [item], [item], [item]", and them me running to get to where someone was calling me. LOL!

Actually, that might have been fun. :)

  2. You used to have a few: pictures with Santa at the Marketplace and PhotoPass at the Animal Kingdom entrance because the kennel is there. Plus, you could get pictures with the Disney characters. It was cool! Those are unfortunately gone, but I swore you could get pictures done by a Disney photographer at the new kennel center. I just can't find that information now. Why don't you give them a call and ask? 877.493.9738

Since the Meadows is not a pet area, you can't take your sweetie to see Chip and Dale. :(

Are you looking to get pictures yourself with your pup at a Disney location? Or one of theirs? If you want to do it yourself, I have seen people with a dog at the Marketplace, but I don't know if it is "in the rules". If you do that, you have the backdrop of the World of Disney windows (including those right off the road so you wouldn't be in the Marketplace) and the Leggo family with their dogs. That's a cool spot. Again, not sure if it's an issue. Just like I could "not" tell you to take your pup on the dog walk off of Loop 300 and head for the beach where you could -- if in the rules -- get a picture of said pup with the castle in the background with a zoom on Kenzi large in the foreground and the castle over her shoulder. Not that I have ever done that because there's a sign "No pets" after the bridge. ;)

Does anyone know? Is the Pluto doghouse and topiary still at the main lost and found? That's a good place for a pic (it was the original Magic Kingdom kennel).

  3. On December 8th, I led a group of 120+ people on a tour of Fort Wilderness site decorations. All of you were so wonderful, coming out to talk to people about your site, like Dave the Castle Guy. I'm glad we finally met in person! I can't tell you how much it meant to me and the number of wonderful comments I got from everyone on how thrilled they were! They all said they were blown away by the Fort, the decorations, and the people. Many planned on going back, taking the bus like I suggested and getting out to see sites (like in 1600) that we couldn't do that night. All of them said they'd do it again and will tell their friends to make a point of going to Fort Wilderness!

    Thank you!

  4. Hi!

Just wanted to say I joined a few weeks ago after my friend Gary told me about the site. I wanted to post before we left for Fort Wilderness, but you know that last minute packing thing...

I've been going to WDW since I was a kid -- I honestly can't count the number of times -- and my husband & I became Fort campers as soon as we got our first camper (a popup). It is truly our home away from home.

A few people might have met me. I'm the one who does streaming webcam broadcasts from my golf cart, starting about 3 - 4 years ago. This year, I led a group of 120+ people on a tour of (some) site decorations. I can't tell you the number of great comments I got of people discovering the Fort and its unique resort community!
