I was just thinking, "Hey. I haven't noticed that before. What a great idea. That's what I've been looking for." And now I know why. Thanks for starting the thread/group!

If I buy annual passes now for my Feb and Dec 2013 trips.....am I right that the passes will expire a year from the date I first use them in February?
If you buy them online now, you'll get a voucher. You take that to guest relations and get your passes there, so yes, the AP year won't start until you actually trade the voucher in for your AP. That's the date your AP begins/expires, not first use date.

That looks nice, actually. I think I'd enjoy the serenity of no cell service for a shorter trip. I'm not so sure about the no lights in the comfort station, though...

I never used the apps other than to gauge park crowds based on wait times. This last trip I was with two friends who wanted to do the parks commando style. I was committed, so I went along for the ride. Disney's app was a lifesaver. It saved us from backtracking and wasting a bunch of time. The fast pass return times is probably my favorite part. The downside is it's super slow due to the amount of data it's pulling.

Love the snorkeling shot, except for that strange guy standing in the background. You should have asked him to move?
As many times as I've been to TL and BB, I've never been inside.
It's unlike the rest of the parks. Very laid back. When you first walk in it kind of makes you stop for a minute and think, "Wait. Where am I?"

The yellow flies are back....got my first bite of the season today down by Crockett's.
Durn sucker itches already!! :argh: Doesn't seem to matter what kind of repellant you use on against them.
Karla - Can you take care of those by the time I arrive? I'd really appreciate it!

I'm wrestling with that topic right now. Mine expires on the second Tuesday of the big trip. I figure I'll have had enough park by then, so not sure it's worth renewing right away. Then again, I could be talked into a July 4th trip. If not then, I'll be back in September, I suppose.

We've never done a Disney water park. Probably because we usually go when the weather is cooler. I love water parks though, so we'll have to get there at some point.
I hate water parks... except Disney ones. Typhoon Lagoon is awesome. You definitely have to check it out.

Come on down!!!
Except for the weekend, this is what the Fort looks like.....EMPTY!!
Wow! It seems like every time I'm there it's packed. Of course it will be when I get there on 5/27. Unfortunately, that's the soonest I can make it. I'll talk to my boss, but I don't think he's going to go for me taking 5 weeks off...

Great pictures! You're making me wish memorial day would get here sooner.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with the thermacells but I'll take a look next time I'm in wal-mart.

I would love to meet some more Fiends and being in SC... it would be hard to say no. I've stayed at Dreher Island State Park on Lake Murray. It's gorgeous out there (I grew up very close by, so I might be biased), but again, no sewer. It's not close to anything but the lake, really, so not much else to go and see and do. The KOA Mt Pleasant (here in Charleston) isn't too too bad. It's on a lake, but not the beach. I've tent camped at Huntington before and also enjoyed it. It got pretty muddy when it rained, though. I'd probably avoid Swansea. I don't know the park, but the area is pretty dreadful.
Maybe some of the upstate Fiends can chime in? There have to be some campgrounds in the foothills that would be nice during the summer.

Wow. I'm sorry I just saw this. That's very reasonable - especially considering it includes delivery to the Fort. When I was looking to rent before (I didn't need Donnie's fifth wheel) I couldn't find any option that I thought was priced right for a popup. I have filed this under "will use in future". Best of luck on the new business!

Just out of curiosity, what do you all use to control bugs at the Fort? I have those citronella candles in buckets, but I'm not sure I think they actually do much. I have bugspray, but I don't like putting that one before bed - especially if I've already showered. I think my parents use those fogger things before family reunions, but I've never tried them.
I'm having a bunch of people over for drinks/dinner one night and some were already complaining about the mosquitos and bugs, so I want to be proactive here.

Yes, it was open past 5pm when I was there in mid-late March. I happened to notice when I walked by about 5:45. It didn't register at the time, but then the next day it was closed about the same time. Makes sense now.

I can't say enough good about TiVo. I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to the newer Premiere (so I have HD) from the Series 2. Somehow, I decreased the internet package and went with basic digital cable and my bill is $20/mth cheaper. TiVo does have a fee, but I find I actually WATCH tv since I have it instead of just having it on in the background when I'm home.

For us shopping for liquor in FL is a good money saver too. Our liquor must be taxed to death here in Alabama, cause it is HALF the price for us to buy it in FL.
Just don't make the mistake of going to the liquor store at Crossroads by Goodings. I went in there out of convenience when I was staying on Hotel Plaza. I fifth of Svedka would normally run me about $8 at home. It was over $20 there.

I've heard this for months. It scared me at first. I just checked for my October trip, though, and Disney Dining would let me make HDDR reservations.

I was there twice last June. I think I got one bug bite the entire time, but it was dry. When I was there in November it rained a lot and there were all sorts of things out and about biting.

Welcome! I recently was on the 800 loop and really enjoyed it.

I'm in! I'll be there memorial day weekend. I'll be sure to look for you.

I typically just leave mine outside the camper by the step as long as the awning is up, but I make sure I shake them out in the morning just in case something has crawled in there overnight. If it's wet and raining, I'll just throw them in a plastic Wal-Mart/Publix bag and stick them inside the door. I have a zero tolerance policy for shoes inside the camper.

But I don't have kids, and Savannah is AWESOME to visit. If I could live there instead of the Chucktown area, I would. In a skinny minute.
What?? This IS blasphemy!

Carol - Great trip report so far. I'm a little envious that you actually made it all night, but I know there's no way I could have done that. I'm just not a late night person. Looking forward to the next 500 photos.
Getting a new TT next month, need advice...

Good luck with the approval! I know when I went through all of this a few months back, the hardest part was the waiting and not knowing and delays and paperwork and waiting and... it wears you out after a while. The hard part is over, though. Congrats.
