Welcome :jumpforjoy
I do miss the Fort.
We had to sell the trailer, family was getting to big for it and it seems that everyone has their hands in my pockets.
Can't wait until things get better financially so we can once again do what we love, Camping and meeting new friends.

First day.
Cosmic Rays- 3 of the 4 the kids had burgers that were dry and grey. My other son had the Chix and Rib combo that he only ate part of. My wife had some kind of salad that was OK, I had the Ribs that were dry and fatty, that was a surprise because last time a few years earlier, they were good.
Second day.
Pecos Bills Tall Tales Inn- I had the Barbecued Pork Sandwich that was dry and needed a lot of BBQ, the corn on the cob was over cooked. Wife had the Chilled Chicken Wrap that she said the chicken was kind of rubbery. One of my sons had the 1/3 lb burger that he said was better than Cosmic Rays but still on the dry side. Not sure what my other son had, but the girls had kid meals.
Third day.
Casey’s Corner- It was around 1:00 pm and we were ending our day to go back to the pool so we wanted something fast. I had the Chili-Cheese Dog that was ok, but the dog didn’t have much taste and was cold. My sons had Nachos, Kind of hard to mess them up, and the girls had Corn Dog bites. Wife didn’t have anything.
Epcot.
My wife and I ate in the Mexico at La Cantina de San Angel , we both had the Tacos de Pollo that was OK, last time we ate there I remember getting beans and rice with our meals, but they don’t have that anymore, instead the just toss some chips on the plate and call it a meal. My one son munched on a Turkey Leg earlier. My other son didn’t want Mexican food so he and the girls ate at the Liberty Inn where they ate Chicken Nuggetts.
I know these places aren’t sit down dinners, but for what they charge and for the amount of food they serve it’s HORRIBLE. I do remember enjoying the Giddy up and go when we camp at the Fort.

Great to hear. We check in may 27 for 7 nights. How were the buses? What about getting to DTD?
We didn't use their buses, we drove in. There is a way to park at the Magic Kingdom for free without breaking any Disney laws.
If you get there early before your room is ready, you can go food shopping and they will store it in a freezer for you for free.

Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a Jayco 23B and Loved it. We sold it last Fall as it was starting to get a little small for us. We are a family of 6.

Just came back Saturday and had a blast. I will defiantly stay their over ANY Disney resort except the Fort if I am camping.
-
We will be there next week on the 27th. I visited my Uncle while he was staying there when we were at the Fort a couple of years ago, but we sold our trailer and he gave us a week of his time.
The place was awesome from what I saw on my brief visit, and you are right about the cost. You can find time there during off season for as little as $500 a week on ebay for a 2 bedroom. I do love staying on Disney property, but the cost is way too much for the size of the room that you are getting, and we are a family of 6.

We sold our trailer about a month before Super Storm Sandy hit and it was a blessing that we did as a 70ft tree drop where we park it, so staying at the Fort isn’t a option this trip and we are trying to pinch pennies.
My Uncle has a time share at Bonnet Creek, and I’ve seen a lot of people selling the time on eBay and other places for as low as $500 a week for a 2 bedroom suit. I love staying at any of the Disney’s resorts, but we are a family of 6, and I have visited my Uncle while he was at his time share and the place is beautiful. I am just trying to figure out if it is worth not staying on a Disney property or stay off site at Bonnet Creek with a lot bigger space for a lot less money. It seems that even the people renting DVC space want top dollar and I would love to take that option if it was affordable.
Please let me know what you all think and if anyone has rented time from anywhere.

We are trying to plan a trip down in late April, or early May, but with a family of 6, it makes it hard with a limited budget.
We sold our trailer about a month before Super Storm Sandy hit and it was a blessing that we did as a 70ft tree drop where we park it.
We are just exhausted with all the clean up, dealing with the insurance company, trying to get estimates on the cost of fixing our roof.(We had two 70ft trees fall on it)
We only got one estimate (That we think is way high), trying to get people to come over and get an estimate is nearly impossible. They are so busy, they just don't show up when they say they will.
We just want to get away!

This is one of my favorite Threads. I like looking at other campgrounds thru the eyes of real campers, and how others have their camps set up.

Very Clean and friendly camp ground.
Convenient to everything.
I will be going back here if I get another chance too.
To the bath house.
Cleaner then the Fort. Had to be the cleanest I have ever been it.

That looks like a neat place. We would love the water park. Were you there on any weekdays? I'm wondering if the waterpark is not that busy during the week. But I guess that campground looks like a place people would go to for more than just a weekend.
Being able to view the horses across the water was cool. How far of a drive is it to get onto the island?
We arrived on Monday, and left on Friday. Although the water park seemed busy, we never felt pushed, and the people were very friendly. The lines for the slides moved fast and their was always extra tubes to float around on.
The drive to the island was less then 10mins.

My sister has camped here before with her family. I didn't realize they had cabins there.
I graduated from Salisbury State which is only about 30 minutes from Ocean City. I loved being able to go their during non peak times. Seeing the sand art brings back so many memories. Did you all spend time riding the rides and playing games at the inlet?
We live less then 15 mins from Six Flags Great Adventure and have season passes, so for thrill rides we go there. 15 mins east of us is Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights. So if we want to play games, we go there.

It was around $90 a night, but we are a family of 6 and admission to the water park if you are not a guest is $14 a person. So we look at it as being a good deal since we did the water park every day since the temperature was in the 90's.
You do not need a fishing license either if you are on their pier. On Thursday night they had a nice campfire with a Cowboy playing his guitar and singing Cowboy music a long with FREE S'mors.
Here is a link to the Camp ground.

I love looking at older pic's of D-World!

The camp ground included the water park for all it's guest. Here are a few pictures of that.
There is also a Wild West theme park that you could go to for a fee at the camp ground too, but we didn't do that this trip.
Here are a few pictures of the campground pier. You can fish and crab from it. there is also a boat ramp, slips and dock for your boat.
Across the bay is Assateague Island and a picture of some of the wild horses.
I thought this was a cool piece of sand art on the beach at Ocean City.
View on the way out of campground.

Just got back from Frontier Town and we had a blast. It was our first time there and we will be back again.
View from the street.
This is the check in point.
Camping store was very well stock with anything you would need. Including fishing and crabbing supply's along with alcohol.
Here are some random pictures of the campground and us.

Just got back from camping at Frontier town outside of Ocean City MD. I will post pictures soon. Had a blast and will be returning.

I just made reservations for June 19th to the 22nd at Frontier Town in Ocean City MD.
Has anyone been there, and what was your experience. Most of the review rate it very highly.
Thanks.

We are thinking about camping here the first full week of August, or maybe the week before. We will stay atlease a full week. Now we are just trying to figure out what campground.
Still trying to figure out where to stay. Needs to have kids activities. I am swinging more towards the Gatlinburg area. I like being in the woods.

I too am sorry about your concern, and sadden that you feel that anyone is “taking away any credit and context for the work that was done to bring that information to the public.”

Since the original post included a link to your site, I have visited your site and would have never done so if the link was NOT posted. I have added it to my favorite list. I am sure there are others that have done the same.
AND, WELCOME to Fort Fiends! :insanity:

I think this would be a great idea if not at Lake Glory, J&D would be another good choice plus they have a pool, a small one but at least a pool. Also the ice cream store across the street is handy to.
