  1. We have gone the first week in october and it was moderately crowded but I love the fort with all of the decor for Halloween. We have gone the week after thanksgiving twice but we have actually had it be pretty crowded so we decided to try September this year based off the calendar saying it was the least crowded week all year and it was full of Brazilians! Very crowded on most the days with it being the "least" crowded. Definitely not worth the heat with the crowd level. The fort was dead but found that we really missed all the holiday site decorations so we went Thanksgiving week without the kids and it was the expected super crowds but found that the way to do the parks are early in the morning and we love the fort Christmas decorations. We are heading to the Fort the first week of May since we have never gone in the spring or the flower and garden show and planning to go in October for fall break. I use to plan around the calendars but now after going so many times have found that Disney knows how to get the crowds so weather and decorations are now when we like to go.

  2. So we just got back from our Disney trip to the Fort Sunday. It was great but we are definitely wanting to plan a trip with less crowds and when we can swim. It was pretty crowd Nov 25-Dec 1. We have gone the first week in October last year but it was also super crowded. We are trying to find the sweet spot of low crowds but not extremely hot! I would also really like to try the Halloween party again. We went last year and it was so crowded. I think it was bc the marathon was the weekend we arrived. Every year I read every website and blog about the best time to go and try following that be it seems that we pick the wrong one or I guess everyone is reading the same things..... HELP!! :)

  3. Jen- Looks awesome!

Would this work on a can without a lid? A lot that I see on Craigslist in good condition don't have a lid.

It took us a while to find a way for the PVC pipe to be removable and stable from the milk jug. We found a rubber top for the size close to our pipe and then put it at the bottom of the jug with the hole on the top with rubber tubing to cover the edges so it wouldnt scratch pole. Then we cut the female size of the piping and use it for the top so it is easy to remove without having to unscrew the globe. Not sure how to do the pole without the top of the milk jug.

  4. This has been quite a project. We are almost done with the painting. Just need to sand buttons and touch up. :) Yay! My husband is almost done with the globes and my daughter has been mastering her skills in remote controlling the color changing light bulb we places in our living room to see what it looked like.

For the names I got the Waltgraph font printed names and covered with masking tape then xacto knifed the letters out. Then spray painted the names on but there was quite a few over sprays so I used a few paint brushes with spray paint and touched up around the names. You can see on the buttons we have some over spray that needs some touch up but have to wait till tomorrow. For the buttons I did the same as the names.
