-
When do you arrive at the fort?
-
So what tme will you arrive at the Fort? You've made good time!
-
Oh my gosh I think he made it over the fence. He looks like a climber.
Lou any headway with the wife & keeping him?
-
If we end up taking him home I'm sure my girls want say in his name.
-
He's so adorable!!!!

Thanks Lou! I feel bad that you can't keep him, sounds like your already half in love w/ the little guy.
On a side note, both DH and I used to be allergic to cats, but loved them. So, DH got me a Russian Blue, Macguyver, for our 1st wedding anniversary. (they are supposed to be the most hypo allergic cats after the Sphinx). While we both had some runny nose/watery eyes symptoms at first, they went away pretty quickly (with in a few months). He was our gateway cat, and now we have 2 domestic cats that we adopted from the MSPCA and are not allergic to at all. Mac passed away 3 yrs ago, miss him still. But love my 2 cats that we have now.
The girls have been begging me for a 3rd, but just haven't wanted to deal with all the vet bills and such. But, maybe this is as Monique said "meant to be", we'll see. Part of me wants you to find a home closer to you, but the small childlike side of me wants to take him home. Either way, by the end of August this little guy will have a home. I admire you for taking him & his sister in to your home and nursing the back to health Lou!

Lou, I talked it over with DH and he said a tentative YES :stars-shower-smiley:(he wants to meet the little guy first). Please please keep trying to find him a local home. But, if you haven't been able to find him a good home by Aug 31st, we'll take him home with us. shh don't tell my girls. We can chat next week to see how he's doing and how the search is going. We have to leave the Fort on Fri Aug, 31st, so we'd have to arrange to pick him up from you or for you to bring him to the fort.
-
aww thanks Genia! actually I'm going to be at the Fort next week. :yaysmilesa-smiley:
I'd have to talk to DH... but maybe, just maybe if you haven't found a home for him by the end of August and he's in decent health, we could take him with us back to NH... (ugh DH is gonna kill me! )
I really hope you find a good home for him closer to you. He's so cute!
-
My daughter would LOVE him! she's always wanted an orange kitty... too bad the 25hr drive home to NH would probably not be good for the little guy. I hope you find a good home for him soon!

Hi Lou, nope the Lance is just to small for 4 people and 2 cats. Before we had kids we used to bring our cat MacGuyver (he passed away 3 yrs ago). But these 2 kitties have never been camping. Also, they are outdoor cats, so I'd be afraid they'd take off and never come back.

Yeah. Misty is a keeper. She love to take walks with us, but meow's at us if we get close to the end of the street! she doesn't like us going out of her "home range". LOL She's also a great hunter. She's brought us chipmunks, moles, mice, snakes, & bunnies. keeps the rodent population down. On the other hand, Jack is just a big doofus! He couldn't hunt if he was starving!!! LOL

Sitting here crying with joy for you, Nate and Jordan.
Jordan THANK YOU for your service!!!!!!!!!
-
Here's our 2 cats: Jack as a baby (he's 3 now), Misty, who's 6, walking w/ Kylie --she loves to walk up and down our dead end street. And Jack as an adult. He loves to sit by the computer.

looks like a fun trip already! Looking forward to lots more photos!

We have one very similar to this one. http://www.campchef.com/classic-12-dutch-oven.html
The pies are the best! I can't seem to get the right flavor when I use the oven.... not sure if that's the charcoal, but they are the best ever.

We are doing the YES program in 3 weeks. I'll let you know how we like it.

Gretchen. I use a stainless steel 9" pie plate. For recipes I just use old family ones (pumpkin is off the side of the canned pumpkin).
Ken starts charcol then puts 17coals on the bottom (either in the dirt, or on the charcol stove) puts the 10" Dutch oven on top--the thing has little feet) then i put the pie in on top of 3 small similar size stones for air flow. Put top of oven on and put 15 coals on top. Let sit 30 min. Check pie. Move coals to make sure crust browns evenly. Cook 30 min more. Enjoy!
Apple Pie
5-6 apples (all different kinds) washed & cut up to cubes-I leave the peals on
2 handfulls dried cranberries
1 Tbls lemon juice
3Tbls flour
3/4 to 1cup sugar or Splenda
Palmful ground cinnamon
Freshly groung nutmeg
2 dashes salt
1 pilsbury pie crust
Splash of milk to brush onto top of pie
Berry is the same except use 2 bags frozen berries (I use one bag all blueberries & 1 mixed berry) and maybe a bit less cinnamon and nutmeg. And no cranberries.
I mix it up and do blueberry apple (3apples & 1bag blue berry) but same basic recipie.
I cheat and use the ready made pie crust while camping. No one seems to mind.
If u have any questions I'd be happy to answer them.

He's playing with me on my camper bed right now. We all love him so much. And my biggest problem is making the kids take turns holding him. :-)
