  1.  I always have the frozen spaghetti sauce as well. Try the Hillshire Farms Smoked sausages, whatever type you like, smothered with green peppers and onions. I use the Pepperidge Farms soft hoagie rolls. Yumm and the aroma drives your neighbors nuts !

Also for a quickie try trimming small strips of steak or chicken in a little olive oil, cover and simmer until done. Add Ragu sauce (of your choice) I use the garden vegatable-simmer until meat tender. We serve over rice, but you could use pasta as well. Crunchy bread & salad ! Mama Mia !

I also make a veggie pizza using the old time Chef Boyardee Pizza kit, very easy to do also. And of course, the old fashioned pot roat put into the crock pot. I always flour and brown the roast before putting it on and it makes a delightful gravy.

  2.  Don't know if this is appropriate to post, but I am so excited about this place in N. C. about 30 miles from our home. While in Petsmart yesterday there was an adoption fair going on. As most dog lovers would do, I was drawn to all the beautiful dogs there looking for "forever homes".

In talking with the lady there I learned this is a private rescue that was started by RV'ers, and she was a full-time RV'er in the past. They have volunteers needed and also weekend RV'ers for helping out.

The place is only about 30 miles from the beautiful Crystal Coast of NC (Emerald Isle) and could be a great place to visit, plus schedule a volunteer work weekend while in the area. We are for sure going to volunteer to help in someway since it is a keep alive shelter and has a mobile (RV) spay and neuter facility.

Just check out their website and see if you don't get a good feeling about what they are doing. I sure do !

  3. We have received bounce-backs three times.

Each time it was only good for the Ft Wilderness CABINS, not campground. :(

Bounce backs are offers given to you while you are at a Disney resort.

Ours came via email...sometimes they leave you a notice in your room.

They are usually pretty good deals.

The catch is that you have to book your reservation for the deal during your current stay.

One of the notices said that if we cancelled our deposit was forfeit.

  4. OK, we've had bb offers from a resort stay, and since FtW is a resort, I'm wondering if there are ever bb offers there?? I can imagine in the cabins, because of mousekeeping, but what about the campsites?? During our upcoming trip, I'm gonna try calling 8844 from the phone in the checkin area and see if there's anything available, but thought I'd ask here first. Has anyone ever received a bb offer from campsites at FtW???

    Thanks, guys!!

  5. This past May we were on the lot directly beside the "pet walk" by the canal on loop 700. One of our neighbors reported an alligator in the canal spotted, but we never saw it. Our 2 Toy Fox Terriers love the walk by the canal, so many new smells and sights. They also are much calmer and quiter after a long walk there. So am I, as a matter of fact ! Unfortunately our 2 little guys love to be loud with their yaps as other pups go by. We are trying to get them more used to seeing other "furry guys go by", and they are getting better. Just hope our neighbors don't get frustrated with their noise.

Cannot wait until December to be there again with our babies !

  6. Ah the magic of the dog park! Works like a charm on our border collies too. :)

We actually saw a coyote on the other side of the canal on the 300 dog walk last year.

And when I say "run into" a deer...

2 years ago I had taken Brady down to the very end and put a long line on him so we could play a little frisbee (he's not a good dog park dog). He was running his usual circles around me, and I would toss it to him on the way by.

Well I turned around to toss it to him one time and a good sized deer was standing no more than 20 feet from us!

Brady was coming around in his big circle right towards it and I thought "holy crap, step on the line NOW because Brady's going to all but run smack into that thing!"

Thank goodness I have OCD border collies who can actually block out a whole, live DEER in favor of playing frisbee.

Brady looped right by him, I tossed the frisbee, the deer looked at us and you could almost see him shrug and say "huh..." and then turned and walked away.

I should have known it wouldn't be a problem. We walk there past ducks all the time (something every decent border collie should want to herd) but because Brady knows the routine and can't wait to get going on our jaunt, he just blows right by them without so much as a sniff.

    Gotta love 'em!

  7. I love the flying pup ! We both feel if God made anything better than dogs, He surely kept it for Himself ! What joy they bring into our lives. We have 2 Toy Fox Terriers, Minnie & Mickey who make every day an adventure. Our love for our dogs years ago also got us into camping so we would not have to leave part of our family when we went on vacation.

  8. Am taking in in to the dealer this week since we are still under warranty. The booster battery not kicking in is also a mystery and the unit is not even a year old yet. Heard from a friend who had similar problem in a Lincoln Navigator and took forever to get to the problem. The dealer kept it 2 or 3 days for diagnostics and the problem was in the rear seat audio controls. There was a short in the wiring back that was continuously draining the battery. Just one of those crazy things. Am anxious to have it solved as I do not like the idea of being stranded.

  9. I switched to the Blue Buffalo too, after the contamination scares. With my MinPin I had before, Iams Fish and Potatoes worked well. She was a gulper and was prone to throwing up. My Vet suggested it and it worked well for 14 years of her very active years, plus she loved it. I do like the idea that I can pronounce all the ingredients in the Blue Buffalo and no corn.

No way am I going the "raw " route with dogs who sleep in my bed and live in my house. I know it is debatable with vets and owners, but I agree that dog is no longer a wild undomesticated animal. Their digestive systems have changed since man has taken them into their lives like family. We are told to use caution when preparing foods for ourselves, why not our pups ?

  10. I use Blue Buffalo which I love, it is holistic and great for dogs with allergies. The thing about vets is they get little to no nutrion training for dogs. To sell dog food I had to take a dog nutrition class, and anything you can buy at Wal-mart is not a good dog food. The first ingrediants do not need to have a by product of any kind or corn. Also dog food does not need to contain BHA it is a cancer causing agent. I only give my dogs natural or holistic food and or treats. Basically giving your dog purina, alpo, etc. is like feeding your kid candy all day. Zero nutritional value. The good food may cost more, but it is so much better for your dog and they will eat a lot less of it and be satisfied and healthy.

Eagle Pack anchovy is also good for dogs with allergies. (Also holistic)

My bf did the raw diet for her dog, this is great also.

  11. The project for this summer has been to replace the fading flower stickers on the camper with vinyl ones plus adding the Musket Mickey that Auburn Jen made. Here are some pictures:

The side of the camper with flowers, a bumble bee, and lady bugs on the back storage compartment door. Musket Mickey is on the lower half of the door (note how the swish that came on the camper now looks like it is shooting out of the musket). A window box hangs from the middle of the door. Yellow flowers grow in a pot to the right of the door.

Added the saying "Not all who wander are lost" to the back of the camper. After much consideration on what to add to it... the camper being floated aloft by lots of balloons ala "Up".

Musket Micket was purchased from AuburnJen.

  12. We have a 2010 Newmar Canyon Star, still under warranty for another month. I have an appointment to take it into the dealer for diagnostic, but wondered if anyone else has experienced this problem.

The battery keeps running down and might be completely dead when I try to start, even the "booster" battery does not help. Just this week we left here in an evacuation from "Irene". It started fine here, but we stopped about 50 miles from home, cut off switch for about 30 minutes-then dead as a doornail !!! We called for a jump-start from AAA and off we went, got set up at CG for couple of days and started fine this morning. This has happened several times before and is a real pain in the a-- ! We don't want to buy new battery until the problem is diagnosed. Has anyone experienced anything similar ? Suggestions ?

  13. Hey everyone,

What campgrounds have ya'll used that are right on the Georgia state line or into Florida. I would like to stay in one that has a pool and has fairly easy access to 75 on our way to the Fort.

We have stayed at Green Acres in Walterboro SC. It is not as far South as you wanted, but it does have large pull thru, pool, and visible from I-95. Close restaurants and attractions, although we just use it as an overnite stay.

    Check out the website.

  14. We just came back from evacuating for hurricane Irene and found everything safe and sound at home. The RV park we went to is RVacation RV Park, Selma/Smithfield NC, just off I-95 @exit 98, easy off and on, plus many restaurants and attractions nearby. The facilities are excellent, large lots(mostly all pull-thru)

The staff were very accomodating and helpful, pet friendly, free wireless internet, We would highly recommend this as a nice stay over on the way to the Fort !

  15. I hear that often, how it must be a pain dealing with all those unhappy people. It's nothing like what you imagine it to be. It's a very uneventful and enjoyable job.

I estimate that I transport about 65,000 people a year. Out of that number, I might get 2, yes only 2, disgruntled people that take it out on me. And even those 2 people know that it's not my fault that they have to wait for a bus. If you think about your bus riding experiences, how many of the people that were angry for whatever reason, took it out on the bus driver?

So however bad you might think it is, it's not. If it were, believe me, I wouldn't be doing it.

I think you guys do a terrific job, and keep smiling to boot> Hat's off to ya !
