I'm wondering if " a hotel at the Walt Disney World® Resort selected by Southwest Airlines. " means a non-Disney hotel that is on WDW grounds, like the ones near Disney Springs. Not that I still wouldn't go. Just wondering.
Nevermind. Just read this in the Official Rules: Welcome Basket in winner’s Walt Disney World® Resort hotel room

Awesome! Great to see another TCD trip report! I don't know that I could have handled the crowds on opening day, but I'll gladly watch from where I am.
I'm on vacation now and almost planned a trip to the Fort, to take our new little camper, but we had too much to do at home this week. So, it's a staycation for us. We don't head back to Disney until October, so I'll learn as much as I can from your trip report on navigating Pandora. We'll probably buy an annual pass on our next trip, so we'll actually start visiting the parks again.
I am here! Better late than never. Although I missed bragging rights, it's nice to read a large chunk of a TCD TR in one siting. Thanks for bringing us along!
Annual pass! That sopunds fabulous! A WDW annual pass is on my bucket list, but so is a DCL cruise. Meanwhile, I'm saving to buy a car with either working windows or AC! LOL

On our way to WWW2017. Sarah and I decided to stop at Character Warehouse. We went to the one on International Drive and then decided that should be close tot he Fort, so we would just follow it until we saw signs for WDW. I didn't realize we had gone to the one at far end! We had a fun time driving International Drive and seeing all the tourist traps along the way. LOL

Not close to the main road and near the comfort station are hard, as the CS is near the road. Have you tried the Fort Fiends app? It might help.

t finished watching the Live stream and here are my thoughts.
I just finished watching the live stream of the new show Happily Ever After. My initial thoughts? Its a technological masterpiece. The visual projections are stunning, the fireworks are beautiful, and the addition of the laser ans light certainly add to the show.
However its a show that to me doesn't have heart. The disjointed jumping from one soundtrack to another and cramming in as many projections of characters and scenes is distracting from the message I do think it was trying to send.
I could and still will listen to the soundtrack to Wishes over and over again. This has one song. Happily Ever After. And the version released is rock version stripped of all the wonderful orchestrations that gave the one used in the shows a depth this studio version will never have.
I know I will watch it at least once in person to get the whole experience but as of now its just a bunch of explosions. Fabulous fireworks but it didn't touch me. I wasn't moved.

I agree that this show relies heavily on castle projections and you need to be able to see those to get the full impact. Sarah and i wastched from an area on Main Street, that was forward of Casey's Corner. I could see most of the castlle. Sarah, being taller, could see the entire castle.
My opinion? Fantastic and spectacular don't seem like strong ewnough words. I loved this. I am surprised people say it doesn't have the emotional impact of Wishes. I would cry during Wishes. I sobbed during this. There is a section about the importance of family that overwhelmed me.
The technology used was amazing. Cube shaped fireworks? Inconceivable!
It also seemed like they took into account this time that all those fireworks create a lot of smoke. It seemed that the smoke was anticipated and added to the show.
I am definitely looking forward to seeing this again. In a few days, I will watch a video of it to see if it captures what I felt seeing it in person. I do think the crowd added a lot to the experience. Where we were, everyone was as into it as we were.

At this point, Sarah and I are planning to drive down on 5/11 to see the last night of Wishes and then see the new show on the 12th and drive home on the thirteenth.

Is "ride a banshee" a euphemism for something?
Love the early morning Fort pictures!

Sarah and I had diner there a few years ago. It was really good! I hope it isn't closing.

I bet the cheap sign for the Chuck Wagon is so they can easily raise the prices on busy weekends.

Quick theory on the Popeye shirt and other non_Disney looks: My eldest son told me he didn't want to wear Disney shirts to the parks. His reasoning was that everyone would know he liked Disney, since he was there. By wearing a shirt showing something else, people would know even more about him.

I would start the day at Hollywood Studios with breakfast at Hollywood and Vine. Then, a ride on Rockin' Roller Coaster. Then off to the Frozen Sing-Along.
Then over to Epcot, where I would ride Soarin'. After viewing the American Adventure, I would have lunch at Le Cellier. Then over to the Magic Kingdom. I would hang out on Main Street USA or Frontier Land soaking up atmosphere until it was dark. A nighttime ride on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train would be followed by viewing Wishes from Main Street, near the hub. I would get some corn dog nuggets from Casey's Corner before slowly making my way out of the park.

I thought someone would have started a trip report at some point. Since that hasn't happened, here are some random quotes from www2017.

I usually allow 90 minutes from leaving the campsite to get to anywhere on WDW property using Disney Transportation. It usually takes much less, but I like to be early rather than late.
Just a heads up: If you want to go to MK before park opening, the best way is to take the resort boat to the Contemporary and walk over.

I am all about planning and am often accused of planning too much into a day. But even to me, this seems way too much. I would drive to Orlando, go to Publix on the way to the Fort to get those fwe last supplies, then go to the Fort and set-up. Sp[end the rest of the day enjoying the Fort! Get a GAG for dinner, take the kids to the pool or the Sing Along with Chip and Dale. Then hit a park early the next day and have some great fun.
Hitting a park early and riding several rides with little to no wait is fun, but it can be tiring. Doing that and then coming back to the camp to relax is great. Trying to set up at that point would be miserable, in my experience. Nothing goes well when you are already tired.
Just my 2 cents!!

Have you tried the Shop Disney Parks app? I can't download it on my phone (no more storage!), or I would check for you.
