  1. Loved your marathon TR! I've never run a full marathon, but DSis and I are registered for the Wine and Dine Half in November and I've had trouble staying motivated to prepare. Reading your TR made me remember what a blast our first Disney half marathon was, so now I'm ready to run! Have you posted your other Disney marathon TR's?
  2. Love your shirts Nicki! Just seeing all your photos makes me want to try it at home, but I'm pretty sure my Mickey heads won't turn out nearly as well. This is just another reason I love FortFiends - you guys go the extra mile in answering questions!
  3. Thanks guys for all the info on your experiences!! I'm reconsidering mentioning it to the kids since we have four and the consensus seems to be that the shirts aren't really worth the $$. We've done tie-dye at our house before and had fun, but it didn't cost anywhere near $80 for four kids. I'm sure we'll stay plenty busy whether we do this activity or not.
  4. Oooh, another excuse to sit at my computer and ignore my housework read trip reports! Off to look for tie-dye experiences...
  5. Another option for saving money on an AP (or any Disney ticket) is to buy gift cards at either Target or Kroger (if you have one in your area). You can buy Disney GC's with a Target debit card and save 5% (roughly $30.50 on $611). If you buy Disney GC's at Kroger at 2x fuel bucks and can use all 35 gallons on a fill up you save about 7% ($42.77 on $611). If you wait until Kroger has 4x fuel bucks it doubles to 14% (over $80 on an AP). The only problem with the Kroger fuel bucks is that you have to use them all in a 2 month period (and usually at a maximum of $1.00 off per fill up) and if you'r
  6. Has anyone tried the Mickey tie-dye or make your own tie-dye at Ft. Wilderness as a paid activity? Dumb question - are you tie-dying a t-shirt? Is it fun/worth it? What is the charge? Sounds like something my kids might enjoy but I wanted to get opinions.... Edited to clarify...
  7. Just started reading. Loved your trip down photos! Amazing how cold spring break was this year. Habit Heroes looks like a must try for my younger kiddos in May. Egg hunt looked like fun. Can't wait to read more!
  8. I would never have thought to ask for this option, but I'm definitely gonna try it in May! Thanks!!
  9. I had my member number ready, but the CM didn't want it and just told me to show my AAA card at check-in. With my luck if I had tried to book with the AAA rate before I actually bought the membership they would've asked for it.
  10. Thanks so much for posting this! DD (11) loves growing things so we'll definitely plan to do this in May. Do you have to book in advance to get the Disney Visa discount?
  11. Thanks to you guys yesterday I called Disney and got a AAA discount that is saving us over $300 on a preferred site! I was so excited. I didn't ask the CM to price out different types of sites, but I may call back today just to see if there's a better discount on a premium than on the preferred. What's kind of funny is that I first checked with the local AAA office and got a quote of around $150 savings for the exact same dates. Not sure why the quotes were different.
  12. Thanks for all the quick replies! I've got a call in to AAA to get a quote, so we'll see... I've never booked a Disney trip through a travel agent, but I'm also going to check with Judy to see if she can get me a better rate. I've run the numbers and really tried to get an AP to work, but unless circumstances change (e.g. we book another trip within the year) it doesn't seem to be cost effective. I'm doing the EE challenge with DD in May but we're only staying for the weekend, so the AP discount doesn't help much there. I'm really hoping AAA will come back with a discount. Sounds like there's
  13. I've been reading these boards for a few months since we started planning our trip. We camped once at FW 8 years ago and we've been wanting to go back for several years (been to Disney since then, just not camping), but it just hasn't worked out - until this summer. We've booked a two week (YEAH!) trip for May 25-June 9 through Disney. I've been searching for discounts but so far no luck. Is there any hope of Disney releasing a discount? What about AAA? We're not members but I would join if I could get a better price on our trip. We're going regardless, but we have 4 children, so every dollar
