 Yes they give a real nice leather bomber jacket, plus they display a banner with your name on it plus a parking spot near the building which does not do many good now that I retired. It was more of a personal thing for me to achieve this before I left.

Our company has eliminated service awards altogether. I think it's a good idea that some company's still recognize loyalty / longevity

 

That's too bad.

Disney is pretty good about recognition, but they have cut back over the years.

...People do things that they wouldn't do outside of WDW. Do they think that they're not travelling on real roads or something? That they're cartoon roads?

 

Given that some of them seem to have the sense of Wile E. Coyote....

Recently, DHS shut down at 4pm for a special event. What event would be so special that they shut down a whole park?

 

It was the Disney Service Celebration. This is a party they throw for those celebrating Service milestones with the company. Those CMs who have worked for Disney for 10 years 15 years 20 years and up. They have catered dinners, the park is their play ground, and special fireworks, just for those CMs. This is an annual event that happens around this time.
