The hybrids might work in the fort but they are not a viable option for the rest of the buses.

Hybrids are efficient when there is a lot of stopping with little distance covered. Also the fuel savings comes from shutting off the motors when stopped. I think people would riot if the AC cut off on a packed bus in August.

I don't know about bus hybrids but DW's hybrids a/c continues to run when the motor shuts off. If we sit to long the motor kicks on and charges the batteries.
