I went there as an exchange student 20 years ago - it was actually the first Disney theme park I ever went to.  My memories of the experience are very vague - it was hot - very hot (I am still sunburn) and crowded.  It is alot like our Disney theme parks actually - more closey modeled after California.  If you are going to go all the way to Japan - Don't do it for Disney.  Head north - Go into the country - see the real mountains - take in the culture.  I can remember being the tallest person in the line for space mountain that went on for three hours.  I was probably too young to really enjoy the experience the way I should have.  It was the last day before I was leaving Japan and my host family had just starved me for months trying to feed me only rice, fish and salad.  At the time I wouldnt eat rice or fish.  So my desperation and homesickness may be skewing my memory a bit - perhaps - one day I will go back to Japan and really take it in with fresh eyes . . .  Nahhh - Camping at the FORT is way more fun.

If you ever are in or near Tokyo and have a free day I would have to rate Tokyo DisneySea as a must see park. As Whip mentions Tokyo Disneyland looks a lot like Disneyland or Magic Kingdom. DisneySea on the other hand is a wholly unique park. There are only a few attractions that you will find in any other park, at the moment I can only think of Tower of Terror and the Indiana Jone Ride (not the show). Then there is Hotel Miracosta located inside the park. Next time I'm there that's where I'd really like to stay. Bottom line though, DisneySea is a must see if you are ever in Tokyo.
