BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023
From Walt Disney World for Grown UpsBabycakes at Downtown Disney POSTED: Thu, 05/19/2011 - 11:00 | POSTED BY: Kasey O'Connor I am a cupcake girl. I would pick a cupcake over most any other food if given the option. So when I heard about Babycakes in Downtown Disney I knew that I had to give it a try. To be honest I was skeptical that anyone could make a vegan, gluten-free, casein-free, cupcake without any refined sugar and have it taste good. I was wrong! While I was waiting to order I was offered a sample of their pumpkin bread. Oh my word it is amazing! So much delicious flavor in one little bit. I highly recommend getting a piece next time you are at Downtown Disney! And then I had to make my decision, which two cupcakes was I going to try. It was a tough choice both the pumpkin and banana cupcakes were extremely tempting but in the end I decided on a vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing and a red velvet cupcake. Two classics that I love and they did not disappoint. In their cupcakes (and all their baked goods) they use either rice or legume flour which made the cupcakes more dense than I was used to. I learned that in order to make the cupcakes taste as good as they do Babycakes uses a combination of coconut oil, agave nectar, and pear puree. The cupcakes are also not as sweet as a cupcake from your local bakery because they don't use refined sugar. The vanilla cupcake was my least favorite of the two. The cake part of the cupcake was really good but the chocolate icing was not my favorite. It just wasn't rich enough for my taste and icing makes the cupcake for me.Babycakes Vanilla CupcakeThe red velvet was amazing! Instead of using cream cheese icing they make their red velvets with a vanilla icing and it is heavenly. I can see why this is one of their most popular cupcakes.Babycakes Red Velvet CupcakeIn addition to cupcakes and their pumpkin bread, Babycakes offers vegan, gluten-free, and casein-free cookies, donuts, and cinnamon rolls. And if you are one of those who likes the icing more than the actual cupcake you can get a cupcake top. Next time you are at Downtown Disney stop by and give Babycakes a try! OrangeBlossomMama 4
I will second Babycakes. A cousin visiting from AL specifically wanted to find Babycakes b/c she is on a GF diet. My girls saw the cupcakes and had to have one. And we ended up with four of them. If you are at DTD, you need to try one! MMmmmm!
