Epcot Park Opening Procedure Changes

by R. A. Pedersen 11 Comments

Epcot will no longer allow guests into the center of Innoventions plaza for the rope drop prior to the park’s scheduled opening time. Instead, guests will be held at the front entrance gates until the park formally opens. We had heard early murmurs of this change last week when guests reported not being allowed to the center of the park for rope drop from the International Gateway. Apparently that change has been extended to both entrances of the park for the foreseeable future.

Further, the small show with the free-roaming Test Track vehicle and the family-of-the-day has reportedly been discontinued entirely.

More details on these changes as they become available.

First Reports of Epcot’s New Opening Show/Process

by R. A. Pedersen 5 Comments

Our intrepid staff on the ground is reporting that Epcot opened this morning by holding guests at the entrance turnstiles until the official 9 a.m. opening as part of the Epcot Park Opening Procedure Changes we first reported yesterday.

Epcot opening: “Good Morning” in the languages of all World Showcase countries. Plus an “Are you ready”? And a streamer blast over the crowd

Anyone else out there this morning? We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new opening.

I have seen them do this before for the 'off' season, only to continue when the crowds pick back up. Sometimes they will hold you at Spaceship Earth.

I can't see them waiting until opening for larger crowds, they would definately upset some people, considering how bad the turnstiles back up at any of the parks.
