  1. Nice update!

Girls are ADORABLE! Must get that from their Mom.

Push talker was very unstealthy...maybe he should take pointers from Felix! Atta boy Felix! Make the girls feel needed, works every time. ;)

    Good job taking choice "C"

I know how it is to want to hurt someone for being an a$$, but in the end it's not worth it. People like that are generally just miserable people.

  2. The evil voice in my head just said "Must be the Wizard of OZ and the Munchkins." But my therapist doesn't let me listen to that voice anymore so I am sure it was Alien. :rofl3:

Sometimes the voices in your head should be heard! ;D

I can't think of a comment to make. I am just sitting back and enjoying this TR

Just having you read along is good enough for me! :heartsmiley:

  3. Continuing our ride.

    FortJan2013Jordan363.jpg

AHHH, there's no place like home!

    FortJan2013Jordan378.jpg

Yea, that ride is sorta cheesy but I still love it!

It was almost noon when we came out of the GMR, so the boys were starving. I suggested going back to the Backlot Express for lunch. It would prevent us from crossing the road again and keep me close to Sully at the 12:30 mark.

As much as I wanted to sample one of these goodies, I was in detox mode.

    FortJan2013Jordan379.jpg

Nate ordered a turkey club of some sort, which was delicious

    FortJan2013Jordan380.jpg

Jordan and I ordered the chicken season wrap which was also very good.

    FortJan2013Jordan382.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan381.jpg

We finished lunch at 12:29 and went in search of Sully. Unfortunately, they hadn't estimated the return times very well and he was still greeting runners. His next return time was moved until 2:30! We decided to catch him next time, but as we went into the gift shop back in that area, he was standing right outside. At least I got a stalker photo!

    FortJan2013Jordan383.jpg

    Love him!

Since a Lights, Motor, Action show was getting ready to start and we saw the last runner come down the street, Jordan said he'd like to see that show again.

    What Jordan wants....Jordan gets!

    FortJan2013Jordan386.jpg

I've seen that show many times, so I played with my camera...

    FortJan2013Jordan391.jpg

I like Lightening McQueen, but I kind of miss Herbie.

    FortJan2013Jordan394.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan393.jpg

When the show was over, we made our way to the bus stop.

    FortJan2013Jordan396.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan397.jpg

Nate wanted to take my picture with Boo on the bus.

Here's the thing...there was a little girl about 5 years old, who was scoping out my Boo!

    I told Nate:

"I don't care how little she is, she takes one step towards Boo and we're gonna throw down!" :nyd:

I decided it was safer to just let Boo peek out of the bag.

    FortJan2013Jordan398.jpg

We arrived back at the Fort around 3:00, relaxed for a bit and the boys said goodbye.

Even Mason was sad as he watched them go.

    FortJan2013Jordan399.jpg

The saving grace was that Mason had plenty of good looking neighbors.

To the right of our site. These folks had 6 Goldens!

    FortJan2013Jordan400.jpg

    Across the street from us.

    FortJan2013Jordan401.jpg

I saw more Goldens on this trip than any other breed. They're great dogs.

Now that everyone has left, Trevor and I are exhausted. We planned a nice quiet evening...I'll share that when I return.

  4. Sunday January 13th

Genia and Tony had to leave today. Jason had to leave today. Even the kids had to leave today. Since the kids only had an hour drive, Trevor and I decided to stay until Monday so they could have a full day at the Fort and leave in the evening.

Genia came over for coffee, in her Captain America pants. See? Patriotic.

    FortJan2013Jordan340.jpg

The kids had warned me that they wanted to sleep in this morning, so I spent the time cleaning up the carnage from the night before and enjoying my coffee and the sounds of the Fort.

After everyone was up and around, we took one last goodbye shot before G & T headed back to SC.

    FortJan2013Jordan342.jpg

We then headed to 1600 to break Nate's camp.

    FortJan2013Jordan345.jpg

Mason and I strolled down the loop while the boys worked. Here's a shot looking back to 1604.

    FortJan2013Jordan346.jpg

We got everything loaded and ready to park in the overflow lot.....and Nate's battery was dead.

    FortJan2013Jordan347.jpg

After a little help from the EZ Go, we followed Nate to the front.

Wind in Mason's ears = pure bliss!

    FortJan2013Jordan344.jpg

For our final park day, we chose Hollywood Studios. Jordan has been there before so we knew there was some things we could skip over.

We stepped off the bus into pure chaos! The marathoners were on mile 23 at this point.

    FortJan2013Jordan348.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan349.jpg

There were a ton of spectators cheering for the runners. Some of the runners were literally on their last leg so I'm sure the support helped tremendously.

    FortJan2013Jordan350.jpg

We were directed to go to the left side of the park as not to cut in front of the runners.

That wasn't a problem for us as I was on a mission...a Sully mission.

The problem came when we got to the back of the park.....we had to cross the streets of America to get across the park. With some 22,000 runners, there were very few breaks in the crowd. They had CMs on either side making guests form a line to cross the street when there was a break. Sometimes 10 people would get across, sometimes 3.

You know how frustrated people get when they have to wait an hour for a ride? Imagine how frustrated they were to wait over a half hour just to cross a street!

The poor young CM who was holding our side back looked thisclose to stroking out. Her face was beet red as she was screaming at the top of her lungs!

It was not the best system, for sure. If I had been a guest who paid near $100 to get into the park, I would probably not be very happy either.

I understand it's for the "safety" of the runners, but I too am a runner and if I go out for a run, no one stops for me. You deal with cars, stop signs, traffic lights, even rabid dogs...it's part of the territory.

Anywho...we finally made it back to the Sully meet and greet/gift shop.

    FortJan2013Jordan384.jpg

I bet you can't guess what I also found in that gift shop?!

    BOO!!!

She was mine! Yes, I was buying her NOW! No, CM lady, I don't want her shipped to the Fort! Yes, I want to carry her all day!

We checked the times for meeting Sully, but they were not accurate as the characters were at stop points along the marathon route. A CM told us the first meet would be around 12:30, give or take.

We stopped for a bathroom break while deciding what we wanted to do in the meantime.

Nate babysat for BOO while I had my turn in the potty.

    FortJan2013Jordan351.jpg

The boys in front of the Splash fountain.

    FortJan2013Jordan352.jpg

They wanted to ride Rock N Roll coaster, so we headed that way.

I waited while the boys rode single rider line...about 20 minutes.

    FortJan2013Jordan356.jpg

With my new camera, I wanted to ride The Great Movie Ride. I could never get a good shot of my favorite movie without using flash. Since there was no line and it was too early for lunch, the boys agreed.

A few pics along the way.

    FortJan2013Jordan357.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan353.jpg

    Hooray for Hollywood....

    FortJan2013Jordan360.jpg

    A few movie shots

    FortJan2013Jordan362.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan361.jpg

John Wayne (and Jordans hat & arm)

    FortJan2013Jordan367.jpg

    We had the gangster scene.

    FortJan2013Jordan365.jpg

With a girl gangster. She was pretty monotonous for an "actor"

    FortJan2013Jordan364.jpg

Probably near photo limit, will carry over in next post.

  5. What a wonderful thing you did for that sweet young man. Please tell him I am sorry I missed the big sha-bang but am honored to have met him and thank him for his bravery and sacrifice.

I love your poster. It's like a gigantic scrapbook page. One of his comments made me smile - that is what he said about the music I played on the golf cart that I mentioned earlier.

Love Nate's shirt. Riot! At least it says "girlfriend", not "mom". bahahahaha……..

Genia: I saw that. Easy, Mrs. Robinson.

I ran into Judy and a friend of hers on the beach New Year's Eve. Let's just say I am glad my kids weren't with me when I did. But she never fails to get me giggling.

    :lmao1: Good stuff Cyndee!

Mrs Robinson...you got that right! Probably not the best idea to put the young men on Genia's site.

I wish you could have made the party too, but at least you got to spend some time with us earlier. At the time, Jordan just thought everyone was visiting. Now he realizes that some people couldn't be there on Saturday, but they came when they could. Very much appreciated!

Yes, Judy is not kid friendly after a certain time of the evening, but she sure is funny!

Wow! Great trip report! Thank Jordan for serving! It's great that he has such a great family and support! I loved that party amd the decorations! It brought me to tears!

Thanks Cindy! Sorry about the tears. It must be a woman thing. ^_^

    Awesome party!

What a great group of Fiends. To take time out of their day and honor an American Hero!

You guys look like you had a great time and you throw one heck of a party.

    Where is Jordan heading to?

He and all are service men and women will be in my prayers.

I agree, the people who made the time to share this trip are incredible.

Jordan is back at Fort Lewis, in Washington. It's a long way away, but at least he's in the states!! He's hoping to finish out his year there and come home for good.

Kids went back to school so I was able to watch the video this morning.

I love that he has you all who love him. I too wish every Vet had at least one person who cared as much as your family does.

Thanks Annie! Glad you were able to watch the video, even with the PG-13 rating. ::)

  6. Stef,

Glad we could help! We're proud to the part of the extended Spawn family!

    :rotfl6: @ Spawn family!

    Stef,

Tony wants me to make sure you know, how much we appreciate you allowing us into the reunion. Tony was excited he was able to support and celebrate with Jordan, especially after a year over in A-Stan.

I understand Jordan shared with Tony about some of things he expreienced over there. For Tony, even after 28 years of moving the Army and other forces around, he (Tony) appreciates all they do. He was proud to pass on one of his challenge coins to Jordo. I just wish we could have done more for him and his close friends and supporters.

For you and Trev (and Mason) to support him and his buds like yall do.........

And for all those FF members and others that stopped by to say "Thank You" presonally; I think ya'll deserve a  too. Ya'll made/took time out of your vacation or work for this brave young man. So to you, THANK YOU 2.

Note: My nice allotment is out for at least the rest of the month. Be warned. :clint:

If I didn't know how patriotic you really are, I would swear someone hijacked your computer.

Tell Tony thanks so much! It's great to see the brotherhood between the different services, though they tease each other on who's "tougher" The challenge coin meant a lot to Jordan.

Now please stop being so sweet, it's making me nervous.

    Great updates Stef!

Thanks KFK! Jordan will love reading all the folks who are reading along and sharing his night.

    Great update and great party!

    Thanks CK!

I got goosebumps and tears watching your wonderful video.

    Thank you Jordan

Me too! EVERY TIME I watch it.

Thanks for joining in and for your support.

I picked the wrong day to stop drinking tequila....

    We have clearance, Clarence. :hah:

Wow. That was awesome of you guys! That's good stuff right there!

Thanks a bunch, it was awesome to do it for him.

I KNEW that would be an awesome update, but you still blew me away. Incredible. What a great party to throw. Wish I could have been there to honor his service.

Thanks Dave. I wish you could have been there too. Our neighbor even walked over and gave Jordan a beer as a thank you for his service. It was great to see folks appreciate him.

A S70, a TCD and a daveInTn trip report all at the same time? It doesn't get any better than this. Great report so far. You guys look like you always have a great time at the fort. Party on!

Wow! I'm honored to bring Starbuc out in my report. Thank you!

We do always have a great time, this one was just extra special. I realize how lucky I am to have Jordan home safe. Not every parent is so lucky.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue…...

    Roger, Roger.

  7. I had planned on another update last night so I can get this report finished. Jordan left yesterday so I was a little down in the dumps.

I logged in this morning feeling better...until I read all these comments. You guys are awesome.

I will respond to comments and carry on!

You and your family are good people.

    TCD

Takes one to know one. :hugs2:

Stef.... yous a makin me cry...

Sorry Nicki. I did pretty good, considering I cry at a sappy movies.

Decorations were great! So glad you surprised Jordan! Sounds like you had a great party.

Thanks Gwen, it couldn't have been any better!

Believe me Stef it was an honor to help set up for Jordan's party. I had so much fun hanging with all of you and I very much look forward to doing it again sooner rather than later.

AGREED!! I can't wait to meet Sil on the next trip. She's gotta be good cuz she sure picked a winner in you.

Wow. I'm finally caught up. The party was a blast.

Thanks sweetie! Thank you for making two trips from Jax to share this night with us. It wouldn't be the same without you there.

awww Steph, I've been here just didnt have alot to say, my kiddos have been sick and sucking my will to live, however I have to say a few things,

Epcot looked AWESOME! I hope to visit during WWW, I need one of those slushie things

Jordan is a very lucky young man to have your family, alot of young troops don't have that kind of support, so I salute you and your family

I'm long over due some punch and some of that buffalo dip stuff :)

Good to see you Judy. Sorry about the kids being sick, hope they're better now.

Thanks for the kind comments but we feel lucky to have Jordan. I believe God brings people into your life for a reason and Jordan just fits perfectly.

You're welcome to have punch, dip and anything else I have to offer when I'm at the Fort!

Great job on the suprise party... Photos were awesome !

Thanks John, wish I had taken more pics, but it went by so fast.

I'm all caught up. I was cracking up laughing at it all until you started setting up for the party. Then you made me cry! How sweet. :)

Sorry I made you cry Kelly. Sometimes a happy cry is a good one though. ^-^

You all did an exellent job with the surprise party!

I enjoyed the pics and videos.

You and your family are good people and Jordan is lucky to have you all.

I have nothing but appreciation for his service to our country and I am glad he has people to show him how much he is loved and appreciated.

Again, I wish all the returning vets had people like you and your family.

    smiley-vault-misc-079.gif

You're too kind Aaron...and now you've made me cry.

You don't know how much I appreciate you all sharing this night with us, even if it's only through words and pics.

It's great to see that Jordan has some special people that really love him great job on his party,

Thank you! He's a great young man and we're very proud of him.

  8. I completely agree with you on Epcot.

I remember when it opened, spending hours looking and playing with all of the future things. Even Imagination had computers set up that you could e-mail with. Very cool when you're 12!

I hardly walk into Innoventions or Imagination anymore. There's not much "tomorrow" in EpcoT.

I will revisit those attractions when they bring out the flying cars.

  9. As soon as the kids left, I waited about 10 minutes (in case they forgot something and had to return) then went into Speedy Gonzalez mode.

I started Trevor on balloon blowing inside, and when I went out to gather more stuff, Jason showed up ready to work!

Have I mentioned that Jason is awesome?

I would never have asked him to take time out of his solo trip to help us get ready for a party. All I did was invite him to eat and drink with us. He took it upon himself to show up to work.

Just off the top of my head, Jason:

Helped Nate figure out his itune problem he'd been having on his phone.

Kept score for us in cornhole.

    Videotaped Jordan's surprise.

    Helped decorate for the party.

Taught me a few new features on my camera (which came in handy on Sunday evening too)

It seemed like whenever I turned around, he was there with a helping hand!

What a guy!! Surely someone I consider a life long friend. (Don't call me Shirley.....Airplane anyone? ;D )

    Back to the party....

Tony and Jason went to work on the banner I had ordered.

    FortJan2013Jordan323.jpg

We hung them between Mickey & Minnie.

    FortJan2013Jordan343.jpg

Inside the screen room was something I had made, along with sweet & spicy meatballs, hot wing dip, baked beans and liquor.

    FortJan2013Jordan325.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan324.jpg

(Jason's video shows the collage much better)

I didn't take as many pics as I had planned because I was so busy, but I got a few.

    FortJan2013Jordan326.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan328.jpg

Out of 24 sub sandwiches, this was all that was left by the time I remembered to take a pic. They were held together with red white & blue umbrella toothpicks.

    FortJan2013Jordan334.jpg

Here is the video Jason shot of the set-up

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qXZgyB2nhhQ

    Here is his arrival video.

WARNING!!! Either turn the volume down or watch it without kids. There are a few F-bombs dropped. To say he was shocked is an understatement. Now that he was home for a month, he watched it and said

"boy, I have a foul mouth!" We'll re-train him when he comes home for good. ::)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9Z5jGhnmDQw

And some pics that I did remember to take.

    FortJan2013Jordan331.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan329.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan335.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan332.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan333.jpg

It turned out even better than I had hoped! Judy entertained us more and more as the night went on and even found some interesting uses for the Army men that I had all over the tables. ???

I didn't get a picture, but we had ice cream cake too!

Dave AKA devores had messaged me that he had to work that night and couldn't make it, but he showed up right after work. Even though we had cleaned up, I gave him some subs to take home.

    FortJan2013Jordan339.jpg

To Genia, Tony & Jason: THANK YOU for all your help!!

To all that came to support Jordan, you have no idea what it meant to him! THANK YOU!

I have a whole new appreciation for what these men & women go through. The things I saw were disturbing enough, yet he had a flash drive that he wouldn't even show me.

We kept one decoration up for the night.

    FortJan2013Jordan327.jpg

Coming up: Goodbyes to Genia, Tony & Jason and eventually the boys after one last visit to a park!

  10. I love Jordan's and Nate's shirts.

    TCD

I bought Jordan's on our December trip. Every Fort lover needs a Fort shirt.

Nate's, I found at Kmart, and with Nate being single & mingling, he had to have it!

It was perfect at the parks. All I had to do was glance around to find him.

I bet you had to use the extra strap with the seatbelt on Soarin'.

    That was mean.

:rofl2: Not mean at all! Donnie actually tried to get me to use it!

    What's the Beverley trick?

Please tell Jordan thank you for his service from a fellow vet.

A few of the Coke samples are delicious. China is my fave. The Beverly is pretty nasty, but I told Jordan it was the best just so I could capture his face after the sample. Unfortunately, my pic came out blurry! Thank heavens for Jason being ready with his video camera.

Thank you from Jordan, and thank YOU from us!

    Update in progress!

  11. Saturday January 12th

I woke up fairly early considering we had a long night. Today was the day this entire trip was based on. Jordan had no idea that I had planned a proper Welcome Home party for him while we were camping.

I had told him that I would be cooking for Genia's birthday so there were some things in the fridge that they couldn't eat. (there was no way I could hide all that food)

I also told him there was an ice cream cake in the freezer but it was a secret, so not to mention it to Genia.

He bought it hook, line & sinker and never mentioned it again. >:D

Donnie & Chloe showed up for early morning coffee. Chloe found one of Mason's bones and gave it all she had, though the bone was as big as her head.

    FortJan2013Jordan286.jpg

The kids finally got up and around.

    FortJan2013Jordan288.jpg

We made plans to head over to Epcot for a while before I had to start cooking.

Judy, who babysits for Chloe, wasn't awake yet, so Trevor offered to babysit.

    FortJan2013Jordan289.jpg

When we got to the Outpost, there were 3 DHS buses, but no Epcot.

    FortJan2013Jordan291.jpg

I asked a worker to take a group picture. Guess which one is me? :hah:

    FortJan2013Jordan292.jpg

We didn't wait too long, an Epcot bus arrived and we were on our way.

    FortJan2013Jordan293.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan294.jpg

Nate, Jordan and I had eaten bagels before we left. Donnie & Jason hadn't eaten. They took off in search of food and me & the boys rode Test Track.

    FortJan2013Jordan297.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan298.jpg

We had perfect timing and caught up with D & J as they were finishing lunch. We took Jordan to Club Cool for some Coke samples. Of course, we tricked him into the Beverly. Here's a video Jason took of that.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8uwcReRg_i8

    Next stop, Soarin!

Believe it or not, I have never ridden Soarin. I don't always do well with simulators and I'm terrified of heights. I couldn't be a sissy and sit it out, so I agreed to ride.

    FortJan2013Jordan300.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan301.jpg

Right before getting into our seats, I started sweating! Donnie said not to worry, he'd take care of me. I sat between him & Nate, grabbed both their arms, took a deep breath and said a short prayer that I wouldn't ralph.

    I DID IT!

It took me a second to get used to the height part, but it was great and I'd do it again. If not for my guys, I may have never attempted it.

From Soarin, we headed to the World Showcase.

We came across a stalled monorail.

    FortJan2013Jordan303.jpg

Someone was thirsty, so we stopped in England and waited.

    FortJan2013Jordan304.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan305.jpg

    Guinness for Donnie.

    FortJan2013Jordan306.jpg

Continued around to France where Jason got a Grey Goose slushie.

    FortJan2013Jordan307.jpg

I was staying on the wagon as I had a lot of work to do later. I did have a snack in mind though.

    The crowds were minimal.

    FortJan2013Jordan308.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan309.jpg

Finally we made it to America where I handed off my camera to Nate. He took a self-portrat, minus a duck face, thank God.

    FortJan2013Jordan311.jpg

Also caught me in the act of snacking.

    FortJan2013Jordan310.jpg

A jalapeno cheese pretzel and water for me.

    FortJan2013Jordan312.jpg

I promised Genia I would pick her up two pieces of caramel from Germany, so that's where we ended up next.

Donnie & Nate shared a brownie, Jordan got a hunk of chocolate covered pineapple.

    FortJan2013Jordan313.jpg

Jason wanted a canta-loopy drink from China, so I snapped a couple pics while we waited for him.

    FortJan2013Jordan315.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan314.jpg

I had never tried that drink but Jason was kind enough to bring an extra straw so I could taste it. YUMMY!!

Jordan & Nate stopped for a frozen margarita in Mexico.

    FortJan2013Jordan316.jpg

Everyone had been fed, watered and alcohol-ed so our mission was complete. We made our way to the exit.

    FortJan2013Jordan317.jpg

    Waiting on a bus.

    FortJan2013Jordan318.jpg

    Riding on a bus.

Donnie making goofy faces at Nate.

    FortJan2013Jordan321.jpg

Nate & I had a plan. We would relax at camp for a bit then he would entice Jordan into taking the boat to MK for a few hours. I had asked Genia to come over at 4:00 to help us get ready.

Around 3:30, I gave Nate "the look" and he and Jordan took off for the marina. I told them we would be eating around 6:30.

Coming up...a mad dash to pull off this surprise!

  12. I am wishing I were at the Fort shooting jellos hits, throwing corn bags at targets, and chillin

Me too! It seems so long ago already.

Love the photos that take me right into the heart of camping at the Fort. Thank you.

You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoy them.

I dont like the new benches either. bee-7.gif Boo!

I also dont like that the RR is rotting and the TCD ranch wont be there. bee-7.gif Boo!

    Look. Boo-Bees!

    :hah: Good one Aaron!

We've come full circle...from Boo the doll, to BOO to changes at Fort, to boobies, or boo-bees...

    Finally caught up. Great TR!

    HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DADDY-O!

Corn hole has a different meaning outside of Florida. LOL

Wish I could have been there to have some Jell-O shots and punch and to help Donnie fix his glasses.

Looking forward to more updates. Keep them coming.

    Updates on the way!

Spent our last weekend with Jordan, he leaves today :'( so I wasn't on computer this weekend.

TCD is not a big fan of the name cornhole either.

Hey now I was doing very important work. I was keeping track of the score for you guys so Nate wouldn't cheat.

That's right! I forgot that you kept score for us. It's no wonder Donnie & I lost. Nate probably bribed you...right?

Belated Happy BD to your Dad!

I just noticed in the picture of Nate and his friends, Colton is standing in front of your MM light and it makes it look like the ears are his! Funny! They are a nice bunch of kids and I enjoyed having breakfast with them. I picked on the boys and asked them if there was a sale on those camo hats they all had on.

I've never thought of shredding chicken to put in sauce. Looks like it's a lot easier than cutting it into chunks and making ziti with it like I do! I also noted the secret weapon for your punch sitting there next to the crock pot. Might be a fire hazard!

Thanks FP4. I'm extremely lucky to have good kids around. Any one of them would help me out in a heartbeat.

As for the camo hats....everything is camo. Imagine my Christmas gifts from the kids. I got more camo stuff this year than I've ever owned in my life.

Yes, chicken in a crock is way easier. A few hours on low and it shreds right up.

    Coming in late, but...

    Thank you Jordan! Welcome home.

    Awesome TR!

I laughed all the way through it.

Oh, and just for Magic TCD, FUEGO!

Thanks for your support Shardi. It makes what he's been through easier to deal with when he has people acknowledge him with a simple thank you.

    "Magic TCD" :rofl2:

You may be on to something here...rumor has it he sometimes dons a Mark Spitz speedo.

Donnie told me he needed new glasses almost 2 months ago. And it looks like he needs them even more now.

    I'm sure you're not surprised. ^_^

  13. All caught up again. There's so many great reports going on right now, I'm having a hard time keeping up.

I remember my parents dragging me to Cypress Gardens and, as a kid, thinking it was lame. I did like the ski show though!

Hope Dave can find his old pictures. I only have a couple from that time. :-

    Cypressgardens1974002.jpg

    Cypressgardens1974001.jpg

I'm sure there were more, stuck forever in a film camera.

Thank heavens for the digital age!

  14. We stay at the KOA 2 miles up the road. In fact the Wing House that we had lunch at last year is halfway between the track and the KOA.

It's not fancy, but it's close and cheap for this weekend. (Like $40 a night) has full hookups and cable. The big flea market is right next door with an awesome Farmers market inside with fruits & veggies.

We like to head back to the track early morning to see who's still running and also all the folks who try to sleep right in the stands! Crazy!

Call me spoiled, but I like my warm bed and a shower.

I'll take some pics of the campground and post them in here when we return.

  15. It's still Friday and now we are waiting for Donnie's second arrival.

Since Mason was tired, we put him inside to soak up some A/C and went down to the Settlement area.

We parked up by the horse barn with plans to make a big loop around.

Someone rode a surrey bike from the Lodge. Never rode one, but four wheels would be much safer for me than two.

    FortJan2013Jordan250.jpg

Pieces of the RR are still there, slowly rotting away.

    FortJan2013Jordan265.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan266.jpg

The beautiful TCD ranch that will be destroyed at some point because of the new DVC.

    FortJan2013Jordan251.jpg

    We strolled down towards Crocketts.

    FortJan2013Jordan252.jpg

And played a game of checkers on the porch.

    FortJan2013Jordan253.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan254.jpg

    Walked down to the beach.

    FortJan2013Jordan255.jpg

And up around the Settlement trading post.

    FortJan2013Jordan256.jpg

Instead of walking down everyone's favorite trail, we cut through the golf cart parking area and back towards the TCD ranch.

This tree is in the golf cart parking.

    FortJan2013Jordan258.jpg

They looked like tangerines, or tangelos.

    FortJan2013Jordan257.jpg

But they were lip curling, mouth watering, SOUR!

The guest services building has pretty flowers planted, even if I don't approve of the new benches.

    FortJan2013Jordan259.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan260.jpg

We took the path around the TCD ranch.

    FortJan2013Jordan261.jpg

There were no cowboys, but there were cowgirls.

    FortJan2013Jordan262.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan263.jpg

There were also pretty pink azaleas.

    FortJan2013Jordan264.jpg

Not long after getting back to our site, Donnie showed up.

    FortJan2013Jordan271.jpg

    And Genia and Tony

    FortJan2013Jordan270.jpg

After the kids returned, a few mean games of cornhole ensued.

    FortJan2013Jordan274.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan273.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan272.jpg

I shredded up the chicken and started a pot of spaghetti for dinner.

    FortJan2013Jordan269.jpg

Jason returned and him & Genia did their best to avoid the friendly competition between Nate & Jordan vs. Donnie and I. (Donnie & I lost)

    FortJan2013Jordan277.jpg

Donnie either threw a bag at Nate, he was dancing or maybe he was imitating the Karate Kid....not sure.

    FortJan2013Jordan279.jpg

I had to lighten this photo a lot, but I needed proof that Donnie was playing on Jimmie Johnson cornhole boards!

    FortJan2013Jordan280-1.jpg

Colton found a safe place to sit...away from the action.

    FortJan2013Jordan278.jpg

The rest of the night was consumed with eating, drinking, chatting and laughing.

    FortJan2013Jordan281.jpg

    FortJan2013Jordan282.jpg

Who agrees that it's time for Donnie to buy new reading glasses?

    FortJan2013Jordan283.jpg

Colton, Kelsey and Karissa stayed the night in Nate's camper. They had to leave early in the morning to get to work on time.

Coming up....Saturday morning. Trevor babysits and I'm in the (tiny) minority.

  16. I knew you had taken pictures that night and was a little worried about what might turn up…..but you were kind! Thank you!

    Judy doesn't look impressed.

My cart wasn't dead, just painfully slow compared to your hot rods! I was waiting for the rangers to pull us over! I loved it though. A little rebellion is good for you every once in a while!

Jordan looks like he is ready for some kind of redneck polar plunge! It was chilly that night! Cousin Eddie in his shortie robe comes to mind too……OK he's a combination of both!

No offense taken here on the boob shot. But just so you know, you're a little early for Mardi Gras. Doesn't start til the middle of Feb. From what I understand, people give you beads for showing them!

You're welcome for the kind photos. No one looks great after a few drinks & looping!

Judy was impressed with the food, my taking her picture while eating...not so much.

I can honestly say I've never encountered the Fort po-pos, other than a couple years ago..on my bicycle! He told me I couldn't ride in the road, I had to be on the sidewalk.

Yes, he was putting pedestrians lives in danger!

    "cousin Eddie" :rotfl6:

No bead seeking here....I'll save that for the 20 year olds, if ya know what I mean!

Happy Birthday to Stef's Daddy-O! :Bar:

    Thanks TJ.

Very appropriate smiley for Dad. He surely needed happy hour after I sang to him over the phone!

I am SO ordering that! Thanks!

Happy Birthday to your Upstate New York Dad!!

I'd say I'm from there too maybe we know each other, but everything north of the City is Upstate so it is a pretty big area.

Dad is right outside of Rochester. Acreage, farmland...very different from what people think of when you say NY.

It's beautiful there from April til October.

    Where are you originally from?

    Happy Birthday Stef's dad!

    Love the stick figure sticker.

No I have not seen Magic Mike.

I have heard DJ Magic mike back in the early 90s.....but I pretty much stick to Country music now.

    Country music?! Yee haw!

Off leash and relaxin' by the canal.......Mason is a cool character

Mason loves the Fort! I often wonder if he brags to the other dogs about being at Disney so much.

Love the stickers. Best one I have seen since. Drive it like you stole it.

Agreed! Will fit perfectly on Nate's Bronco. The other boggers will surely get a kick out of it!

You know how Genia says Nate is really her son?

Well I have come to the conclusion my Jessica must be yours. I mean take away her blond hair, blue eyes and fair skin and she is all you. She would be all over that Boo doll and would not let us forget she wanted it even after we left the store without it. She is not an only, but she is the youngest so, I guess that's about the same thing.

Happy belated Birthday to Stef's Daddy -O!!!

Thanks Yvonne! I will add Jessica to the adopted list. :hugs2:

  17. All of the above!!

    No assigned seats, move around.

BIG money! Both teams and spectators.

Hot, hot men from all over the world. Including Patrick Dempsey...who is a sweetheart.

Way diff cars, the prototypes which are fast and loud. The mazdas and porsches which sound like little bees and a Ferrari class that's new to the 24 this year.

Very cool to hear them all night and watch them while the sun comes up Sunday morning!
