  1. Heading home from Richmond VA on 95 after the 4th of July (2019). Spent the night in Fayettville and headed south. The coach started to run rough and we pulled off at a rest stop. Was having trouble getting up to highway speeds and wouldn't hold. Kept downshifting on even minor grades. Limped from rest area to rest area. Called about a tow, $1,600 to the closest diesel shop (Bulldog towing). They couldn't get to us until the next day but were kind enough to give us the name of a shop in Savannah, GA. I called and they said if I could get it there they would be glad to look at it. We limped in before dark that evening and they checked it out. Turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. They had a hard time finding the right filter but we were fixed up the next day by 2:00pm.

The shop is W.W. Williams and they are open until 2:30am. great bunch to work with and they also do Allison Transmissions. They have 30 and 50amp plug ins and water (No dump or sewer). Couldn't have been happier on the service, very fair on pricing. I now have spare fuel filters which I should have had all along!

Hi and welcome to the group, Country Coach Guy!  My name stands for Country Coach Intrigue.  Nice to have another Country Coach owner here.  Would love to see pictures of your rig.

Hi Gwen, I really apologize, I just saw this post almost 6 months after you put it up! I figured out your handle as soon as I saw it. I have one picture in the "About me" section. I have a bunch but they don't allow pictures that big. If you're still interested let me know and I can text some or email them. I'd like to see your rig as well! Ok, that worked. only small picture I have.

  3. This has been over a year now and assuming that everything is still working to your wife's satisfaction.

I'll throw a comment in here in case someone with the same question(s) reads through. We have a 10 gal residential electric water heater that is enough for my wife and I to take regular showers and not run out. I also have a Hydro Hot system that provides on demand hot water but runs off of a diesel burner. That works great too. Water stays very hot as long as there's water in the campground and diesel in the tank. I just like to use the park electricity for heating water as long as I'm paying for it anyway. I like to keep the diesel in the tank for miles not showers.

  4. Went Dec. 13th through the 18th. We were in site #834, our friends were in #835 right next door. It was a nice site and we carted around the loops to check out the Christmas decorations. Nice time, the weather actually got pretty cool when the sun went down. We had a 4 day park hopper which we only used three days on. That's the last time we'll go that close to Christmas as the parks are just too crowded for our taste. We did the hotel lobbies to check out their decorations and found the Wilderness lodge to have the coolest tree and decorations. Going to run over there again Wed. May 1st through Saturday the 4th to use up the last day on our tickets from Dec. The remainder will be putting around the Fort  in the golf cart seeing the sites, checking out the pool, etc.

We have been lucky to get sites next to each other or across from each other when we have had our reservations linked with friends as traveling together.  Whoever checks in first makes sure to check that they know we are traveling together.  We have had to pass on a preferred site or loop to get sites next to each other. It all depends on the time of year you are going.

Thanks! We're going to be there Dec. 12-18th.

We have leaves and we're in FL.  Well, we will have less since we had 2 big trees cut down in the front of our house this summer.

Ok, gotchya! I don't have any trees. In fact, when we landscaped my wife specifically said she wanted NOTHING that you would see in Maryland. There is a couple of oaks down at the edge of the lake but no leaves in our yard.

You in a condo?  We still have leaves and keep mowing until close to December...

I have no leaves now cause I'm in Florida! But we had almost an acre. We started raking about mid October and normally finished in January. That was until we had a real windy day and the neighbor's leaves came into our yard and it started again!

Welcome.   I spit myself out of Facebook about a year and a half ago, and this place is about the only place I still participate online.   The only problem is, pretty much everyone here is a bit off their rockers besides me.  I'm like the only sane person in a Disney obsessed asylum.

Ha! I kinda had my own epiphany on Disney after going about 30 times in 20 years. Haven't been since 2011. We're going this year so my wife can see the Christmas decorations. Kind of a 30th anniversary and a gift for her birthday. Don't know when the next time will be... if ever. Funniest part is we only live about 30 minutes from the gate. I haven't yelled at the computer since quitting Facebook!

Thanks for the information. Where in Maryland are you from? My family moved there when I was in middle school. We lived in Columbia. I went to college at Salisbury. Also went a semester to Mount Saint Mary's in Emmitsburg.

Actually have lived all over, but the last 17 years in Sykesville/Eldersburg. We are now full time Florida residents. Yayyy! No more snow, cold or raking leaves! Did I say no more snow? Ha!

I sent a buddy of mine from north Jersey across the Harry Nice bridge once to meet us in Va. he said there at nothing F$%^# nice about that bridge, I would like to say that he is finally speaking to me again. :ROFLMAO-1:

You must know then how much I hate 95 south in northern VA to put up with it. Came close to clacking mirrors more than once with semi's.

  11. Before we permanently relocated to Florida we made a yearly trek from Maryland to Florida. First, we stayed in hotels on our southern drive as we always stayed at a Disney on property resort. More truth in advertising, I haven't stayed at the Fort since 1976. Now that that's out of the way I'll combine the two. We've made more than a few southern trips from Maryland to Florida in our RV. Mostly to Naples and Tallahassee but the breakaway has either been 10 across or I-4 out of Jacksonville. Soooo... the southern route. We take 95 south to Rt 301 and cross the Harry Nice bridge to King George VA. I personally hate 95 in northern VA so much that I pay a $36 toll to cross what I call "ass clencher bridge".

If you're coming from further north you might consider Americamps RV resort in Richmond VA. Very nice place and Big Rig friendly. Not a place we stop at on all trips south.

Our first stop from leaving home was Fayettville RV Resort In Fayettville NC. All our stops are big rig friendly, and they are all just off of I-95. The last stop south is Coastal Georgia RV Resort. It's in the area of Brunswick. From there, it a short 3 hour trip to Disney.

All of the places mentioned above have nice facilities and full hook up level sites.

I'd post some pictures of each but there is a size limit that's way smaller than anything I have.

Hope this helps somebody who might be in the planning stage looking for a nice overnight stop. All are nice for a bit of a stay as well.
