If we weren't doing California this year, I would be interested. But unfortunately, the BIL is retiring form the navy this year and that trip is going to eat up all our funds.

When we got back into camping a few years ago we were pulling a Jayco Kiwi 17C (weight around 5000lbs loaded) with a Dodge Durango with a 4.7 engine. We added an auxiliary engine cooler to help push the upper limits of the towing capacity (around 6500lbs). We had no problems other than poor gas mileage towing through the mountains of PA, West Virginia, and NC on the way to Disney in August. The limits they show in the guides are there for a reason, but they are mostly there to cover manufactures rear ends to prevent some morons from trying to tow monster trailers that are overloaded.

I agree with Carol to look at the newer campers, as they are made with lighter materials. May cost more in the start but they will be cheaper in the long run.

Do the fire rings have little grates on them to cook stuff or no?

No on the grates, but I will have mine if you need it. We will also have our stove and gas grill for you to use also.

I will do a deep fried turkey on Saturday and a crock pot ham on Sunday.

Pam: Site B6, Thursday to Tuesday, 3 adults 1 kid

John: Site B7, Friday to Monday, 2 adults 1 kid

Rennie, Site B8, Friday to Sunday, 2 adults

Whip: Site B9, Thursday to Tuesday, 2 adults 3 kids

Bill: Site B10, Thursday to Monday, 2 adults 3 Children

Aaron: Site B10A, Friday to Tuesday, 2 adults 2 kids

Jason: Site B12, Friday to Sunday, 2 adults,

Rebekah, Site B13, Friday to Sunday, 2 adults 1 kid

For a total of 9 families, 18 adults, 11 kids

Looks like we are going to have a blast with lots of new faces this year!

Doodle, I will be several states away and up wind from them, and I'm still not sure that is far enough!

Same here, Battery is going back in, camper is getting plugged in, Propane lines purged, and a through cleaning on the inside.

Just mixed up a batch and it is chilling in the fridge. Gonna try and make them in bulk this year instead of individual servings. Should allow us to have more vodka available for the drinks sit I don't do individual measurements ( one shot for the drink, one shot for me)

Surviving, feeling much better, just have a few medical tests to have done to make sure that is really is nothing. Just sucks dealing with your own mortality and not used to being on the receiving end of the heathcare spectrum.

I feel somewhat responsible, since I called Dave a Larry Wannabe. I understand Dave needs a tow vehicle that can carry all the estrogen producers that go camping with him, hence the van instead of a real truck. Larry, on the other hand, just loads his up with crap.

How long does it take to cook? I'm just curious.

Roughly 5 minutes for pound maxing out at a 18lb bird, if large, I just cook the thighs and wings after the body

Or 3 - 4 beers depending on ambient temp of the air.

I am a turkey junkie and have never had one fried... Surprisingly Bill, after seeing a fire video and how easy people got burned or set their deck on fire, I lost my excitement to try to fry one. You can teach me how to do it safely.

Umm, did you forget I am a firefighter? As a PoPo you do realize we are the worst people to be allowed to play with fire, don't you? I am one of the ones who hides in the back of the room and hides his face when their kids are asked about how safe their homes are. But I will be doing it with a beer in my hand and that alone make me safe. As for the rest of you, well........

Just kidding, i set it up away from the kids and set a safety zone while it is lit and the oil is still hot. I have been to enough idiots who thought it was okay to cook a frozen bird or do it in their basement along with other stupid ideas. I love to cook and love fired turkey, but the family does not share my enthusiasm about fired turkey, so I get it when I can.

If you have a receipt for an injection, I will bring the needle and we can inject. The turkey that is.

Never injected one before frying. I have injected meats before grilling though.
