All I know is when we made our first trip, 1979, it was the same year Jossie and Paullete started and they're still here. :)

Sorry to argue, but why does the Fort DESERVE a lazy river? Isn't Stormalong Bay the only resort pool to have one? The people at the 2 deluxe resorts that share that pool area pay WAY more than we do. I'd love to see RC reopened, but it's not going to happen. And if it did, what would happen to the rates at the Fort?

Name something recent please, I haven't seen anything disappear.

I'm all for enforcing rules (especially kids driving golf carts), but what amenities do the Value resorts have that the Fort doesn't? The Fort has a water slide, splash area, a TS restaurant, 2 dinner shows, a boat to the MK, a marina, beach area, fireworks viewing... the Value resorts don't have any of that. I had a great stay at a Value this summer, but I honestly can't think of anything they have that the Fort doesn't.
EDITED to add that I can't believe I forgot about the campfire with the only place I know if that you can see any Disney characters without paying for a meal or park entrance.
I guess I'm not an "old timer," but I did first stay at the Fort around 32 years ago.

Honestly, I think I need to quit reading this thread. It's called Fort WILDERNESS, right?

So because the Fort had a water park next to it that closed 15 years ago, the people who run WDW should decide that the Fort gets a lazy river even though only 2 of the deluxe resorts have one, and they share it. That doesn't even make sense.
And if River Country did open, people would be complaining about the extra traffic in the Fort.

You wouldn't have to limit it to weekend campers, but rather for those who are looking for a bargain, only staying for a day or two or three, and/or don't really care too much about where their camper is parked as long as it is parked at WDW.
I believe there is money to be made by treating campsites more like they do hotel rooms or even DVC rooms.

Here's what I would pitch to Disney if I were to find myself in front of "them":
"In order to maximize appeal to our camping guests let's create a tiered system of RV sites similar to how we have a tiered system of hotel rooms.
    1. We build a short term "Value" camping area w/ limited themeing and amenities. Possibly like the caravan parks in Europe.  Quick in quick out and a Value price.
    2. We designate Fort Wilderness as our "Moderate" RV resort for those guests looking for longer stays with a moderate price.
    3. And lastly we build a "Deluxe" Resort that is aimed at both long term campers, extra large rigs, and those looking for an "upscale" experience."
