If I was pregnant I think I'd really have to think about going. I know it hasn't been in Orlando, yet, but I think my nerves would be shot if I was pregnant and got bit in FL.

Someone was was saying they wonder if the storms/depressions churning in the Atlantic could end up pushing the mosquitos one way or the another.

I have a friend that is pregnant whose husband won a trip to Miami from his employer.  They said, thanks, but no.  Her doctor also told her that men carry Zika for two years and that if they were planning to have any other children in the next two years, he should not go either.

I have nothing to add to the conversation, but find it amusing that someone with only 5 posts on the board has amassed a total negative respect score of -40.  Someone needs to kick back with a warm, ooey gooey Main Street Bakery cinnamon roll and chill.

Nothing to add either, but that looks delicious....are they really extinct?

  3. We are among the few that actually still enjoy Ellen's Energy Adventure.  My son is a non-thrill seeker and is very disappointed that another of his favorites is being replaced by a roller coaster.  Our next trip to the Fort was not supposed to be until next summer, but we are jumping through financial and campsite availability hoops to get him to Florida for one last ride.

  4. This is a wonderful solution = something bigger that my autistic child will NOT want attached to him or anything he is wearing.  I'll keep my money and continue to wear two magic bands.  For my money, I wish they would come up with a consistent policy for those with disabilities that don't want to have their finger scanned...oops, my teen says my inner cynic is showing.

  5. I have used gift cards to pay reservations and annual passes.  Have never tried to put an "advance" on the room to cover charges, but I have been able to leave the remainder of a gift card on the room account that was used to pay for stuff before my card was charged.  Also, I believe the credit card is only billed at the beginning of the stay (for the balance of the reservation) and then is billed as you reach the limit on the reservation.  This leaves the option to stop in and pay with the gift card at anytime during the stay.

  6. Most cab companies will give you a stop on the way in for groceries and in August the refrigerator is a great idea.  We have never really relied on the Meadows for groceries beyond odds and ends because it gets pricey and the selection is limited.  We tried using a cooler one summer, but it would have been cheaper to buy the refrigerator than what we spent on ice.

  7. On our last trip to Disney with my dad (we lost him shortly after), we were in the world showcase for dinner.  I turned around looking for my kids and they were gone, as were my nieces.  Mom explained that Grandpop decided that they absolutely needed to try eclairs from the French bakery BEFORE spoiling their appetites with dinner.  Since that day, it is a must stop for my son and we have always enjoyed the freshness of the offerings, so I would tend to believe that they bake daily.  Let's face it - eclairs have a short shelf life.....

  8. My youngest son is on the severe end of the autism spectrum and although he has received service since very young and is a student in a Kennedy Krieger school he is is still non-verbal.  As Autism Awareness month draws to a close I find myself reflecting on my relationship with Benjamin. He is at times a terror and at times an angel. He exhausts me and fills me with energy all in the same one hour period. I would so love to know what he is thinking. When he bangs his head he breaks my heart and when he giggles he melts it. He fills me with pain and agony, joy and hope, confusion and clarity. How can one small human being control a life so fully? And then I think - the answer is simple, in this one truly magnificent way he is just like any other child of any other parent. All of them bring us hurt and pleasure, joy and sadness, fear and hope and we are all LUCKY to share their lives with them. So, when you think of me and my Benjamin don't ever feel pity or sadness for me because my life with him and all of the mystery it involves is priceless.

  9. Just got off the phone with WDW Reservations and was told that in order to get a AAA discount I had to make my reservation with AAA.  Is this a new policy? Has anyone booked with AAA before?  I was wondering if their were fees charged by AAA for booking with them.  I have only ever made my own reservations and am frankly, disappointed by this new development....
