  1. We have never taken a dog, but have been put in the 500 loop a couple of times. No dog noise except when I went around the back of my MH where the neighbors had a pen set up. Dog were inside when owners were away and at night, so no problem then. We have driven the GC by the dog park many times and you can't even hear them on the road. Virtually all owners leash their pets, and most do the clean up thing.

1400 is close to the Meadows area, and we have been there 2-3 times but we were never bothered by noise there, except when our site backed up to the Campfire area. In the outside sites in 1200, there will be quite a bit of bus noise, but the sites are pretty big. As others have said, each loop has pros and cons and a lot depends on your desires. Enjoy your stay in whichever loop you wind up.

  2. We rented one from Disney for a day years ago. The next trip we rented for a week. Before the next rip we had bought one. Then we had to buy a bigger cargo trailer to move it. We rarely take it anywhere except the Fort, but there are many days we don't go to the parks, so it comes in handy for moving a couple of wheelchair bound kids around. We like the busses and use them to the Outpost and Marina, depending on where our site is. And of course there are mail runs, trading post runs, laundry, looping, visiting, etc. Depends on your likes and your budget. As others have said, it's a convenience, not a necessity for most people.

  3. I bought one a few years back with a birthday gift card. Got it at Home Depot, although it was a closeout sale, and I'm not sure they still handle the things. it was a brand name, probably Magic Chef. Used it once with poor results, although it was outside under our awning in 100 degree heat for a week. Set it up here at home in the garage and let it do its thing for a couple hours, but not much ice. Dried it out and put it in the box where it sat until DW gave it to her daughter a couple months ago. She uses it in her kitchen to good advantage when she entertains. I doubt I'll get another one for our travels.

  4. We start near Atlanta, on I-285 (east of town). We always stop for the night at the Inn & Out RV Park at Lake City FL. That's at the I-75 and US 90 intersection, maybe a half mile east. We find it convenient with a Lowes (or is it HD?), a Wally World, and MANY fast food and better eating places. Inn & Out has propane, gas, diesel, and a Subway on site. Works for us and is that much closer to the Fort the next morning. It's not a luxury resort, but a good overnight park.

  5. Hey DMML, (And I used one of those tools an hour ago.) My DW has already chimed in back on page 2, but let me add my :welcome: to you. We visited the Grand Gathering at Stone Mountain Park on Memorial Day and a great time was had by all. We didn't stay because it's only 3 miles from our house, but we had a great time and a wonderful meal. Although I had met most of those Fiends on line, I had not met many in person until that evening. but you would not have known that by the reception they gave us. Also, I love the INCREDIBLES. That's the only movie we carry in the MH that is for me. Hope to meet you either at the Fort or a GG. Jump in here with both feet, but hobnail boots seem to work best. :tool:

  6. I got mine (flag stand) finished in time for Flag Day. It was a couple hour project if your wife hasn't just cleaned the garage and moved all your stuff. I had most of the parts from a previous project and just needed the hardware. It's proudly standing as a second flag display I my front yard. I'll probably build a second one just because I can. But my next project may be a Minnie light. I've got most of those parts too, if I can find them. :banghead:

Actually DW did a great job cleaning the garage with her daughter and a friend. Now we have a lot more space to clutter up. :rofl2: :rofl2:

  7. What strength of PVC pipe (Sched 40 or 80) do you use for flag stands?...the kind where the flag sits off at a 45 degree angle from the main upright post. What diameter? How tall is the post from the ground to the angle? What do you use for a base? This would be for maybe up to a 3x5 flag.
