I posted this to the other thread, but since this is the "official" cruise thread, I thought I'd put it here too.
If anyone is interested in staying by the port the night before, whether you are flying in or driving in, please let me know. If I get a few people, I'll try to negotiate a good rate with the hotel manager. I know we like to drive up the night before and do the park & ride thing, so we don't have to pay so much for parking at the port. And, it's nice if you're flying in too, to be there safe & sound the night before, in case of airline delays, etc.

We stopped bringing our camera to WDW many years ago. I really gotta remember to bring it next time....
-
Which hotel are you staying at Carol?
You just gave me an idea! If we have a few people that would like to come in the night before and stay by the port, maybe I can negotiate a cheaper rate with the hotel manager! Anyone interested?

Citricos at the GF is our favorite restaurant on property! They are expensive, but we go there when we have the Dining Plan (2 TS credits). The steaks are very good (that's all I've had there, so I can't comment on the other menu items). And, I love their cheese platter for dessert -- different types of gourmet cheese, with dried fruit and nuts. Paired with a nice dessert or ice wine! mmmmm....
-
Wow - we've been there 3 times, and every time we say we're never going back! We've never had anything we liked, and we thought they were too expensive for what we got! LOL -- isn't it funny how we could have such different opinions?
Oh, and after 3 times, this time we really mean it. :D
-
They have the best dessert buffet in WDW!! :D
-
yes - you're right! They do take awhile. It's best to have passports when you cruise, but you do not need them. A certified birth certificate and driver license will work too. But, I highly suggest getting a passport. Having one makes everything easier. :D

The sanding is the worst part!!

You know I was kidding, right? There was always somebody on that other board, asking for the next month's movie schedule, on the last day of the month. I was just trying to be funny. You guys take everything too literally!!! :)

Embassy suites Convention Center
Ooh - even though it's not Disney, the Embassy will be nice!! Breakfast in the mornings, and free 2 hours of drinks in the evenings! And, the rooms are huge! :)
-
Where are you staying?
-
Ooh - I just found this thread! Sorry Carol! There is a Sticky over on the Camping Community Board. :)
Little bitty clotheslines would be cute! lol

Since today is the 31st, I thought we needed somebody to ask this. It wouldn't feel like home without it. :D
-
We might be at the Fort Friday and Saturday nights before! Or, we might just drive up Saturday and spend the night at the Radisson at the Port. We'll know as we get closer.

Scott and I own an auto painting company down here in Ft. Myers. (He does the painting, I do the paperwork) That will take A LOT of paint! And A LOT of clearcoat!! Very expensive -- but if you have the equipment to spray it, it will be cheaper than bringing it someplace.
I would love to see you driving down the highway!! It will definitely attract attention!

Butter-fried steaks and green beans. (I'm on Atkins, and then so is DH, lol)

For those waiting for a lower price -- an Oceanview stateroom just opened up. Total, including all taxes and fees, for 2 people = $1417. If you want it, let me know ASAP, and I'll grab it for you!!

Thanks Chris!
My co-worker, Tracy, has been on the Dream all week (back-to-back cruises). She's been blogging about it on our site here: http://travelonadream.wordpress.com/. Scroll down to where she boarded on 1/22 to read from the beginning!

Buffets are usually good too - plenty of choices for everyone! Crystal Palace at the MK always has a carved meat or two, potatoes, veggies, etc. If he likes smoked meats, then Whispering Canyon at the WL is great!

Just wondering if there is a way to see who's throwing someone some respect or disrespect? Like on FB, where you hover over the "like" and it tells you who likes that post?
That way lies retribution, and the dark side. If it's anonymous, then it's a bit more honest, I think.
This from the man with 11 respect points.....

Let me start by saying to Jen/Chris -- if you do not want this thread on this board, please feel free to delete it or move it. If it's ok here - can you please "stick it"?
As most of you know, the Fort Fiends are going on a cruise aboard the brand new Disney Dream! Here are the details:
Date: September 4, 2011 (Labor Day week)
Duration: 4 nights
Itinerary: Port Canaveral, Nassau, Castaway Cay
For those of you that asked me to link them with others for dining, I have done that. So, if there is somebody special you would like to dine with, please let me know which dining time (early or late) you would like, and I'll cross-reference the reservations together in Disney's system.
If you have not booked yet, please contact me as soon as possible, because the ship is filling up, which means prices are going up! There are no more Inside or Oceanview staterooms left. There are Verandah staterooms, Family Verandah staterooms, and Suites available.
We are going to have so much fun! We're planning some fun things, and little surprises!
If you are already booked through another agency, or directly through DCL, but would like to transfer your reservation, so that you can join in our fun, please email me ([email protected]) or send me a PM through this site.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Can I take my golf cart to the Wilderness Lodge, to use their swimming pool?

Oooooh -- Honorary Moderator and 5000 points all at once!!! Cool!
Any body ever stay at the Board Walk?
in Disney Trips
Posted
We've stayed there a couple of times, and loved it! A little too expensive for us most of the time, but I got a good TA rate those times. We were just in a Standard View room, but we looked over a nice garden area - very pretty!
I would love to stay in one of the Garden Suites sometime - those look beautiful!!
The location of the Boardwalk is great - like Carol said! Walk to Hollywood Studios, or Epcot. Or take the boat.
There are no onsite restaurants -- you have to go down to the Boardwalk for that. But then you have a few choices: ESPN Club, Big River Grille, Kouzzina (great breakfast!!), Flying Fish, and you can walk over to the restaurants at the Y&BC or the Swan/Dolphin.
