  1. Just for clarification, Port Royal is at the south end of Beaufort.
  2. I would suggest two in Beaufort. Wren's is located downtown on Carteret St. In Port Royal, try Dockside. You will have to pass through Beaufort on your way out to Hunting Island. A long time ago, I used to go to Johnson Creek Tavern on Harbor Island. It is located right before the small bridge before the entrance to the campground on Hunting. Hope you have a good time.
  3. I brine a turkey every year for Thanksgiving. I use a honey brine recipe from Alton Brown then cover it with a homemade rub. It the goes in the smoker for several hours using either hickory or apple wood. Always comes out great.
  4. Hi. Where are you planning to camp? Skidaway Island State Park has a nice campground. No sewer, though. Stay away from a campground called the Biltmore. The neighborhood is kind of questionable in my opinion. Also check out Ft. McAllister State Park which is in Richmond Hill, GA. As for things to do in Savannah, lots of shops and restaurants on Riverstreet downtown. Take a carriage tour or a ghost tour of the historic district. Visit some of the old forts like Pulaski or Jackson. Savannah is an old city. It has always reminded me of New Orleans.
  5. Mailing a goat? Now you are all just being silly billies.
  6. Give me your address. Any thoughts on how to get those antlers in the mailbox?
  7. Thanks for all your replies. I will keep trying to get an upgrade, though. DaveInTN, good advice about giving specs. I may call and add a couple of feet for good measure. Tell them I bought a bigger camper and needed a longer site.
  8. Going to do my best and request some sites from the site app when the time comes.
  9. I have been calling Disney (a lot) to try and upgrade to a premium site without success. Do you think I will be okay in a preferred?
  10. Well, we broke down and purchased a brand new Keystone Montana 5er. Before we did this, we had reserved a preferred site for this Dec. Our old camper was a 30' travel trailer. Didn't think I would have any problems fitting on a site in the preferred loops. Well, now we have a 39' 5th wheel to contend with as well as my F350 Dually Crew Cab long bed. Do any of you think that will be a problem getting in a site on any preferred loop?
  11. For those on the way here...let me give you my ex-wife, I mean MY address.
  12. Ditto. What part of SC are ya from? I'm originally from Beaufort, but live in Bluffton now.
  13. Hi. I'm from Beaufort. As PP said, Beaufort is a bit out of the way from Savannah and Charleston. Beaufort is South Carolina's second oldest city so there are some old houses here just like Charleston. If you come here, take a carriage tour, visit Bay St. and the waterfront park, visit Parris Island's museum or go out to Hunting Island State Park and see the lighthouse. Dockside Restaurant in Port Royal, which is located on the lower end of Beaufort, is a good place to eat.
  14. Hello, all. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Scott and I live in SC outside of Hilton Head. I have been to FW about 10 times since our family's first trip in 1979. I tend to lurk a lot on msg. boards, but once in a while add my two cents. I tend to be a smart ass at times so I want to apologize in advance. I look forward to reading everybody's posts.
