Fastpass- certain attractions at each park issue Fastpasses. They are free. You put you park ticket in a machine, and out comes a Fastpass. It will tell you a time when you can return to that attraction, and enter a separate Fastpass line that is way shorter than the main line. You usually can only hold one Fastpass at a time- the Fastpass you have tells you when you can get another one. When it's busy, the major attractions will run out of Fastpasses by early afternoon. The guidemap for each park will tell you what attractions have Fastpass.

Yes, you can come and go all day to the same park on a single park ticket. You can't go to other parks unless you pay for park hopping.

To add on...

You can add park hopping to your ticket at any point during your stay, so if you're not sure if you'll need it, it's fine to wait and see and not spend the money until you're sure you do.

To add park hopping, take your ticket to any Guest Services window. It's a flat add-on fee for park hopping of about $50 no matter how many days your ticket is good for. So whether you have a 2 day ticket or a 10 day ticket, you only pay the park hopping fee once and it's good for as many days as your ticket is.

Thanks, just what I wanted to know.

No problem.

Do yourself a big favor and use Fastpass. You will figure it out real fast.

I can't tell you how many people I talk to at the parks and even back home who don't use it because they think it costs money or is complicated. If you use Fastpass wisely, you will almost never have to wait in a long line at any of the parks for the big attractions.

When we were at the Fort in Nov/Dec., I gathered up all our tickets and headed to Hollywood Studios to get Fast Passes for everyone for Toy Story. It didn't work!! Everyone has to have their ticket ran through the turnstile in order to get FPs. I never knew that!!

Gary- Sorry you had to learn that the hard way.

Some more basics, just in case:

- Fastpasses have a one hour return window. You must use the Fastpass within this hour. This rule used to not be enforced, but as of about a year ago, it is now strictly enforced.

-The return times for different attractions vary greatly. For example, at Hollywood Studios at 10 am, you might be able to get a Toy Story Midway Mania Fastpass with a return time of 6 pm, while over at Tower of Terror, you could get one with a noon return time. You need to think about what you want to do and use Fastpass wisely. There are some attractions, e.g. Stich's Great Escape at the MK, which are a waste to use Fastpass.

-The information provided so far on this thread is current. However, it is well known that Disney has plans to roll out a new Fastpass system, which has already been tested to a limited degree, which will allow guests to pre-order Fastpasses, and have them embedded into their park tickets or a wristband on an RFID chip. This is called Fastpass Plus. When it will actually go into full use, and how it will work is not known at this time, but it's on the way.

Actually FPs for TSM even run out during not-so-busy times, it's usually just a question of when. Not-so-busy, you might still be able to get them after noon. Busy times = gone by about 10am, if not earlier.

Another reason we like the Lines mobile app is that it gives you FP return times and whether they're still available.
