The one on sale is a model 34750, if you go to the surge guard website, the 34750 has been replaced with a newer model 34850. I can't seem to find a difference in the two, but it looks like camping world is trying to purge their inventory before the new models hit the shelves. Probably should order one sooner than later, as I would assume this price is limited to the current model only.

I don't think you could ever go wrong with a Jayco. Loved our TT until my kids outgrew it .....
-
OK the edit button has decided to flake out for me. I think there is a minimum tongue weight which is most likely 10% of the GVW dry weight. So theoretically you could adjust the tongue weight by lightning the load, but only by so much.
-
Kind of.....there is no direct answer IMHO. The maximum GVW of the trailer is 7780 and the maximum tongue weight is 780 IF the trailer is loaded optimal

Ouuuch! $650 - $1550 more for the DDP. I knew the DDP was not for us, but I did not realize how much difference there was.

There is another way you would not have to worry about weight issue but buying a bigger tow vehicle is out of the question :rofl3: besides when we did that we ended up getting a bigger 5th wheel, again and again and again.
yes, such a vicious cycle, one in which I seem to be caught in as well

I know the standard calculation is 10-15% of dry weight is supposed to be recommended hitch weight, so that is certainly within range. I always use 10% just to be conservative but it does seem high based on my experience. Our previous TT was 6600 pounds dry weight dual axle, no slides and the hitch weight was under 600 pounds. Our new TT is 9945# and has a hitch weight of 940#.
Are there front slides on the models you are looking at? Maybe that is adding the additional weight. Hopefully others will chime in.
-
It is my understanding the "hitch weight" of the TT is the dry weight, meaning no battery, no propane tanks. With a maximum hitch weight of your TV being 910, that tells me the maximum weight it should be pulling is no more than 9100# (10% of total trailer weight should be hitch weight). This leads me to believe you are approaching the maximum weight your TV can handle. I am certainly no expert on this, and this is only my opinion, it is not the amount of weight you can pull, but how quickly you can stop the weight you are pulling. I have witnessed first hand a passenger van towing a large boat and while attempting to abruptly stop ramming the vehicle in front of it, only because he was pushed into it by the boat he was pulling.
I had never thought about the actual hitch being included into the total hitch weight calculation, but it seems logical that should be added along with Propane tanks, battery, and anything you stuff in the front storage compartment.
Does the shortest lightest one happen to be a single axle?

Bump, Rented from Kenny in the past and worked out well. Have reserved a GC from him for our upcoming trip.

is there a down side to being found by Fiends? Oh, and updated the calendar with our arrival and departure dates.
-
Is there a way to create a roll call to where we could place on the FF calendar when we will be at the Fort? Would like to know who is going to be there when we are/
-
Alright, CG reservations made. Can you point me in the direction to buy my tickets for the event? Thanks in advance.

Looks like the 2015 EGGtoberfest is schedule for the weekend of October 10th at Stone Mountain. Kelly and I have both reserved spots in the F loop... in case any other Fiends want to join us!
I can't seem to find the link for the 2015 Eggtoberfest at Stone Mountain. Does the event take place only on Saturday? What time do the gates Open/Close? Rethinking our schedule that weekend and possibly will drive down early Saturday morning, assuming that if we arrive mid morning we haven't missed too much.

Lol! INC=it's not Cindy.
Fellow fiends wife's nickname. IIRC a camper kept calling her Cindy. And that's not her name.
whew! Thanks! That makes the trip report a lot easier to read.

Still a newbie and can't seem to find the definition of INC.
I see where someone figured it out but they did not expand any further.

Relaxing outside my camper enjoying the view, meeting new folks as they loop, and sipping on an adult beverage while my DW is spending every waking minute in the park(s). I like to call it my "holding down the fort" while she is taking Disney by storm! LOL

We have not stayed there, but they have high ratings from Good Sam. We looked into it as a possible place to have a GG and do the Bourbon Trail, but that has not worked out yet.

Bourbon Trail? Did someone say Bourbon. Hey Humphrey Bear, maybe we stay here on our next trip to Buffalo Trace :toot:

I agree, the noodles are the best!!
Seriously? The Best? They could keep the noodles, just bring the potatoes back....and make them an option. I think I should clarify that I do like the noodles, but if I had my preference I would prefer the potatoes. Just sayin'
-
We have prior obligations on that Friday so that would require us driving down on Sat and back on Sunday. Cant make that happen with camper in tow.

I wish they would bring their potatoes back in addition to, or in place of, the noodles.
Mmmmm, beef would be good also....

I would love to hear for experienced Fort Fiends about dining recommendations and FAST PASS recommendations. Tomorrow I can make our Fast Pass reservations...so excited. I have booked some dining reservations already...and will try to get into Be Our Guest for lunch during our stay. We will be staying at FW for three weeks...then headed up to Hershey, PA.....and eventually back to sweet California...via Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore, Seattle and down the Oregon/California coast to home. Thank you for a wonderful site...full of very useful info!!
O'hana is a MUST DINE for us every trip. Obviously we recommend it, along with a quick lunch at Casey's corner. The Fish n Chips are also a goto lunch for us in Epcot/England, I think the restaurant is named Yorkshire County Fish shop. Our Fastpass reservations are handled by DW, and as soon as the clock strikes midnight on the 60 day out from our arrival she is online nonstop.
Glad to hear you are going to Hershey Pa as well, we have friends near there and enjoyed our tour of the Hershey Factory tremendously. Good Luck on the reservations for Be our Guest, they are hard to come by, so the sooner you can get online and make your reservations the better. If unsuccessful just try and check back often in case of cancellation.
