Allow me to ask one follow-up question...

I will be covering about 550 miles on some of these days, and on one day will lose an hour due to the time zone.  Do you all have experience with many of these campgrounds with late arrivals.  With it being the offseason, and a strong possibility that I may not show up until 8 or 9pm, do I need to worry about showing up after registrations offices are closed, or can I assume that everyone will have some sort of system in place for late arrivals?  I've never faced this issue before, so I'm not sure what I can depend on.  Thanks!

Eagles Roost handles their late arrivals  by leaving an envelope (with your last name on it, and site #) on the front cork board outside the office. Other places we have stayed, use the same or similar method, but always a good idea to call and ask how your particular stopover handles it.

One place we stayed had an empty envelope for each site on a board that was numbered by site number, the idea was that if there was an envelope in the slot, the site was open, you then took that envelope and proceeded to your site. Upon departure you placed your money in that envelope and dropped it into a night drop box at the exit. Very much the honor system but most RV'rs are honest people.

  2. Looking for advice on short term storage options for our TT. We have several trips planned that are only 1 -2 months apart and are thinking of leaving the TT in Florida between those trips. Do any Fiends have experience with RV storage places near the Fort? Any that I should stay away from? Any that you would recommend?

Don't forget that next month is the big D23 Expo that hey hold every other year in Anaheim.

Now that the new stuff at Animal Kingdom is done, and the Star Wars Lands are underway, it's time for a big announcement of a multi-year project at WDW.

I expect big announcements about what's coming to Epcot.  This addition to the France pavilion will probably be on the list.

Sounds like you might have some insider knowledge ;)

A lot of the bus issues could be eliminated if they had a CM at each bus area communicating with a central dispatch and get buses reassigned or filling in when needed.

We stood at EPCOT for over 45 minutes waiting for the WL/Fort bus when we were trying to meet up with our daughters for lunch at Geyser Point.

Numerous buses came and went at all the other stops, some with only 2 guests, some with none.

During our last trip, they had exactly this at Disney Springs. We watched all resort terminals get a bus, and there was CM standing by directing pedestrian traffic, if they had questions about bus terminal locations. She came over and asked how long we had been there, and got on the radio and a bus that was signed as WL change to The Fort and pulled in to pick us and 10 others up. I will mention this was the second WL bus in as little as 5 minutes, and there was no one at the WL stop.

  5. One of the most annoying phrases I heard waaaay back when I was a subcontractor - "Slow down, you don't want to work us all out of a job now do you?". Now I am told this mentality is being overcome by offering "performance bonuses" for each day they finish ahead of schedule. My guess is the 5 weeks ahead of schedule is translating into a heftier paycheck for the contractor.

  6. Would those tents be some kind of an attempt to reserve site for someone else that is checking in? An attempt in making CM's think it was occupied.

I know our State park system is First Come First Serve and tents like these are very commonly placed on adjacent sites to "reserve" the site for their friends.

I agree with the rest of you that the "Tiny House" movement is dumb.

The Tampa Bay Times had an article recently saying how smart a USF architecture student was for building her own Tiny House.

The photo of her creation showed it parked in a trailer park.  She and her father provided all of the labor, and still spent about $18K on it.

    What's the point?:

The exterior of the tiny home built by University of South Florida architecture graduate Stephanie Henschen, a graduate of the architecture program at the University of South Florida in Tampa. she spent 10 months building the 210 square-foot tiny house she lives in for her thesis project. That's not a tiny house. It's a homemade travel trailer.  Only it's probably heavy as hell and nowhere near as mobile as a travel trailer.

Tiny House =Yard Barn on wheels.   A few years ago on a 4 wheeling expedition into KY, there was a "rooms available sign" and sure enough someone had converted Yard Barns into bunkhouses and they were being rented out on a nightly basis. Someone in our group said that it wouldn't be long before someone attaches axles and wheels to one and starts traveling.

  8. Most awesome check in experience. Faxed our request 5 days in advance. Upon arrival, was greeted with which site do you prefer in your chosen loop or others that are available. Asked about specificsite, no they at boked until later. Used the FF app to determine best site and were given options. Picked a site, and were told " if it doesn't workout here is the front desk number to request another site" . Love our site! Wow! what a different experience than. Ack in the fall.

  9. Although not as creative nor themed based as some folks. I use a plastic sawhorse that was purchased at Lowes for $10. I painted it all black and installed two eyelets in the top, attached with small plastic chain and small caribiners, all bought at Lowes.  This folds up very nicely and fits in one of our storage compartments.

  10. Back when they were all beef Hot Dogs, I would look forward to a hot dog from Casey's every trip. This last trip, it was ok, but not the spectacular treat I had looked forward to in the past. DW and DD go straight to MK when we arrive and usually end up with a cup of Casey's corn dog nuggets, these days more for the tradition than the taste I imagine.

  11. I believe everyone should be compensated for their time. With that in mind, have you considered charging for the FF Site App? It seems a lot of effort and time goes into it and over the last couple of weeks I have noticed several references on the Disney Camper Fbook group, and recently on another camp forum.

Whether you charge for it or not, Thank You! for the time & effort on such a great app.
