  1. For ride photos, if you are wearing a magic band, the photos are automagically added to your account. Just walk off the ride. Nothing else needs to be done unless there is a problem with the system in which case there will be signs posted. This applies to EVERYONE with a magic band. Not just memory maker.

For seeing your kids photos, as long as they are linked to your account (in this case you say you manage them so they are linked) you just need to be sure to select share photos in the friends and family section.

If viewing of the app, it should show them automatically. If not, select filter and be sure show all is selected.

Ad long as you can see the photos in the account that has memory maker attached you can download them.

Wait, what? So, if we just wanted ride photos and no others, we could skip buying memory maker and the ride photos would just show up on MDE, where I'm assuming we could buy individually?

  2. You do not need to swipe the magic band after the ride if you have MM they should automatically go on to it.

I feel like there was something we had to do.  I think we had to go to the ride photo counter and tell them the photo number and then they scanned our band.  But I think MM was fairly new then, so it's entirely possible the method changed.

  3. Hi everyone!

I just purchased Memory Maker and have a question. Will any photos that my kids (all minors, where I manage their accounts) have taken on rides or any other time they aren't with me, show up in my account?

    Thanks :)

They should.  As I mentioned elsewhere, we went with 2 other families in 2014 and had that concern.  Could not find any definitive info beforehand.  IIRC, you are supposed to swipe the magic band at the ride photos or something?  We told the kids to be sure to do that, and we definitely ended up with pics that we (Memory Maker owners) weren't in.

Also, we discovered after the fact that we could've shared the MM among the 3 families since we were all linked, but we couldn't find that out beforehand either, so we ended up buying 3.

  4. You should look for one of the Keurig type French Press machines.

There are numerous brands out there.  We got ours brand new at a Goodwill for $2.50.

Some of them come with the refillable cups, some put the coffee into an attached reservoir

You boil the water, put your K-Cup in, pour the water in and slowly press.

There are 2 needles just like the electric ones that puncture the cups.

    Interesting. Thanks for the tip.

  5. I just went to my parents' in SW Va.  It is right on the border of TN, so usually gas is about .20 cheaper than here in Charlotte, NC.  Oddly, it was the same price as here (2.09ish), and one station I saw in TN was like 1.97.  That was all on Sat.  Then Sun. on my way out, I paid 2.14.

So, I don't know what was going on.

  6. We have a mostly stocked kitchen with our old kitchen stuff.  I even had old dishes, but removed them as 1) they take up too much room and B) they have to be washed by hand so we just use paper products.

Things that we move back and forth:

    Crock Pot

    Keurig

Toaster oven (we have a cheap toaster on board, but I have Celiac and need my own, plus I use it as the oven whenever possible)

So, all 3 of those have been forgotten at some point, either at home or on the camper when we get home.  I just bought a $9 coffee maker at W-M last night to keep on board.  We will just have to have coffee the old fashioned way now. ;-)  I would like to also buy a cheap toaster oven and Crock Pot to keep on board, but my husband thinks it's not necessary to have 2 of each, so I have to buy them one at a time and sneak them in.

  7. Swell.

The app that sometimes won't load, or freezes, or doesn't work at all now has more stuff added to it?

Wouldn't it have made sense to get the current version working right before adding more functions to it?

    TCD

The way I understand app building is a new release can have bug fixes and new functions, and the release has to be cleared by Apple (in the case of iOS at least.)  So, maybe they have been working on several different things for this latest release that will fix the problems with the current version as well as add new features.

I see what you're saying, though.

  8. Good question!

If you land in 300, I'd recommend steering clear of the inside sites.  If you don't need a really long site, most of the outside sites ought to fit the bill.  The ones along the canal are nice.  The only ones I'd steer clear of are the ones that back up to the road towards the end of the loop - especially since there's a bus stop right there.

We were in 302, which was an outside site, kinda backing up to the playground.  Really hard to get into.  One tree had quite a lot of damage from people hitting it.  It was the 2nd one on the right when you turn in, and interestingly the site next to us (1st one) was empty the entire week, and this was a busy spring break week.

  9. That's pretty pathetic on Disney's part.

They really botched the whole Photo Pass/ Memory Maker thing.

Now, they're forcing it on Annual Passholders by making it a "free" perk.

Whoever is in charge of this really wants to try to make it work.

They ought to go back to the drawing board and CLEARLY communicate what the program is and how it can be used.  It might help their sales.

    TCD

    Agreed.

  10. The MNSSHP was nice, but it wasn't really worth the amount of $$ they charge.

Luckily we won the tickets, but if we had to shell out $300 (4 tickets) to get a few pieces of candy, fight crowds, and not be able to get on rides, I would've been upset.

But, I guess the hoards of other people that go (year after year) must not feel the same way.

It's definitely a money maker for Disney.  Who ever came up with the idea must've gotten a nice bonus.

The parade was cute, the Hocus Pocus show was great, but neither made up for the "bad" parts.

I much prefer taking the grandkids to the SeaWorld trick or treat which is included in your daily admission.  Mickey's not there, there is no parade, but at least you can move around and the kids get to go into every candy line.

That is sad. We loved the party. I still say the Boo-to-You parade is my favorite Disney parade. Wish I could go back during Halloween but the kids are too old to take out of school now.

  11. Yep, even with my tiny trailer, those roads that have those expansion joints can cause this harmonic/bucking at certain speeds. It's rather unnerving.  There was a stretch of I-20 between Birmingham and the state line that was really bad. Fortunately, they have recently repaved that stretch with asphalt.

Yeah, when we had a pop-up, there was one part of the road in our 'hood that did that every time.

  12. We finally bit the bullet, and have made reservations for our first trip, for November 2015.  We were disappointed to read in several places that memory maker couldn't be purchased without a package - not true....we were able to buy it even before linking our tickets, and on the strength of a FW reservation.  There are a bunch of options on the Disney website to link memory maker to tickets - do we need to do that?   Or if we travel together (there are six of us going - 2 adults, and 4 kids), will these be linked automatically by Disney?

We went spring break 2014 with 2 other families.  There was so much conflicting info at the time about what we could and couldn't do. It seemed no one knew anything.  We were all 3 linked together on MDE and couldn't find out if we could share one, so we each bought it because we didn't want to chance missing out on the pics.  Of course after the trip we all had access to all the pics.  We had also read that you could only get pics (esp. ride pics) if you were with the owner of the MM and not like across the park from them with another kid.  Not true either.

Sad that a year and a half later there still isn't very clear info.

  13. The sound of the a/c is one of the best sounds while camping. Next best sound is a pouring down rain thunderstorm. Now combine the 2 and it is perfect.

I've heard other people say they like hearing AC too but I can't stand it. I do love to hear rain though. I've even been known to go nap in ours in the storage lot during a good rain.

  14. The only things I know about convection ovens are, they cook faster and I need to lower the temperature when I use the one at church for baking bread.  It browned the bread too fast before it had really finished baking.  Went from 375 to 325.  Never used a convection/micro wave oven before.  It looks smaller than a regular oven but probably will be OK, maybe not to roast a turkey :)

Do the cabins come with a slow cooker/crock pot? That would be handy.

Our MH has the oven/microwave combo.  It works just fine as an oven.  I don't think it's a true convection oven, because you don't lessen the time or temperature.  It also has a micro/bake setting, which I've yet to find a use for, where you put your stuff in and it microwaves it for a while and then bakes it.

It's kinda tricky in how you operate it, like once it preheats (which seems to take forever), you have 5 minutes to enter how long you want it to cook and then start, otherwise it will then shut off and start cooling down.  But if you're not inside (or have the TV too loud) when it beeps that it's ready, you're not really sure if it's ready.  It does have a progress bar, but that's not super clear either. So, we had some times when we first got it where stuff was just sitting in the oven not baking.

Other than that the only drawback is if you're using the oven and someone needs to quickly microwave something, they have to wait.  That's why we take a toaster oven and bake stuff in that when it fits.  Obviously if you are flying down to stay in the cabins you don't want to haul a toaster oven with you.

  15. I have the Flying J charge card, not credit card.  Flying J makes you link it to a bank account and pay for it with an electronic transfer.  It has never failed to start the pumps at either a Flying J or Pilot station.

I feel so lucky that my 2004 does not use DEF.  Give me a couple of more years and I may get the itch for a new truck, but I'm happy now......

    Ah, that makes sense then.

Luckily the DEF lasts a lot longer than you would think, so we don't have to put it in that much.

  16. We use truck lanes almost always.  Our MH is just too big not to.  As others have said, just don't hang out for a while, esp. if there's someone waiting behind you.  Do like the truckers and pull up after pumping if you need to go inside again.  FTR, we have even been held up by truckers who pulled up and went in.

We have the Flying J savings card, but I feel like my husband always has to go in and pay first.  That's interesting some of you other posters say you can start pumping with that. So, do you all have an actual Flying J credit card, or just that savings card from Good Sam's?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned (doesn't mean it wasn't, though) is DEF pumps.  Our DEF tank is on the opposite side of the pump at truck stops.  I asked at one Flying J or Pilot and was told to just turn around and go in the wrong way after getting the diesel.  We did that once when there was no one else around, but usually truck stops are way too crowded to pull that off without angering someone.  We discovered you can buy boxes at the truck stops and Wal-Mart and such, but that is like 3x more expensive than the bulk DEF.

We've never had anyone complain to us or even mean mug us at a truck stop.  Oh, funniest thing I've ever seen at one - I kept hearing a honking from a truck, and at times it would be steady for like a minute.  At first I thought someone was getting mad that someone had parked at the pump. I headed out to go inside the store, and realized it was coming from a truck that had pulled forward after pumping.  I could see something at the steering wheel and was worried someone may have passed out or something, so I walked closer.  There was a dog sitting at the steering wheel pushing the horn.  An employee was out smoking an it didn't even seem to faze her, but I was laughing hysterically.  I came out and got back in the MH. I heard it again and looked out. There was a trucker walking by and he angrily turned toward the truck like, you wanna fight? Then he started laughing hysterically. I wonder if that dog does that at every truck stop.

  17. It was just me an my wife so we slept in the bed. I have chronic insomnia and issues sleeping. Every night I laid down to sleep on that cruise and the next thing I new it was morning. LOL I have dreams now about that sleep. just under 280 days till I have it again.

Well, that's good you have that to look forward to again.  Maybe you were exhausted from the day's events or the movement of the ship lulls you to sleep. I'm a night owl and have trouble getting to sleep, but once I do I'm dead to the world.  I think the Bonine I took every day on the Fantasy helped me get to sleep, even though it's supposedly "less drowsy than Dramamine".

  18. I am probably one of the only people to say this but I love sleeping on a pull out sofa. Surpisingly the countours and placement of the support is exactly perfect for my back. I sleep better on those than on any other bed. Well besides the bed I had on the Disney Fantasy. That was a phenomenal bed.

Did you sleep in a regular bed on the Fantasy or the drop down kid one? ;-)  I don't recall the Fantasy bed being bad or good.  I am one of the lucky people that can sleep on anything and with any kind of noise once I fall asleep.
