Hmm... somehow I completely missed this thread the first time around.
Sounds like a good excuse to let the guys take out the trash.
It's great having teenage boys with us.

That article is an attempt at humor, right?
I give it an F-.
I've read a lot of stupid things on the internet, and this is right up there with the worst of the worst.
TCD
I can't get over how incredibly wordy it is. And no, it didn't catch my interest enough to get past the first paragraph.

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
We're so glad you could attend., come inside come inside"
Now we'll see how old everyone is...
LOL. While I think that song might be older than me, I do know it.
NM - just googled. I was 1 when it came out! I am old!

Oct. 1 is a good day. Turns out Virginia Tech also opened Oct. 1, but 99 years earlier, 1872.

According to the Orlando Sentinel Disneyworld opened 44 Years ago today 10/1/71. I didn't make my first trip until my honeymoon in 1981.
Cool. Something older than me!
I think my first trip was summer 1986 or '87.

This is the thread that never ends.
Edit: my little music notes didn't work.

I am so thankful I have boys and they hated that movie. But they are definitely of an age now that we see a character and just walk on by. Not sad about missing those crowds, but I was a little sad the youngest tried to throw away his autograph book from when he was 4 or so the other day.

I live within 25 miles of Greensboro and have never seen or heard of these.
Interesting. That's why I said "apparently". I am in Charlotte area and have only seen and read about them online. I had just chalked it up to me never going near Greensboro around Christmas.

I have used tent stakes in the past for my wire frame Halloween & Christmas yard decorations.
Good idea, thanks.

Well, I didn't see any other board I thought this should go on, so here it goes.
I'm recovering our picnic table seat pads. The red/white gingham was really faded on one side and torn in a couple of spots. I looked at some oilcloth, but that really wasn't economically logical. Ended up using the same kind of fabric that came on it - like a vinyl with felt backing (i.e. what some tablecloths are made with). They even had the identical red/white gingham, but I thought I'd be different, so I picked a navy with American flags print. Not sure why I didn't buy enough to make a matching tablecloth.
I will stop rambling now. 1 down, 1 to go.

Thanks, guys. I finished the snowman. My son says the ears do not look like MM. Everyone's a critic, I swear. Though I will secretly agree with him that the ones on the balls look better
I am going to have to find some kind of stake or something as it is a little top heavy. The balls will just hang from whatever I can find to hang them on.

Thankfully it's not quite that bad here, although we do keep the thermostat down around 60.
We have a lot of sweaters.
OMG, I could never live with you. I don't even like living here at the 70 my husband puts ours on in the summer.

Anyone familiar with these? I started seeing them on the interwebs a year or two ago. Apparently they have been a big thing in Greensboro, NC for years.
Anyhoo, I thought I would try to make some this year to take to Ft. Wilderness. And then one night I had an epiphany - add two tiny balls on top for mouse ears. I also made one snowman with mouse ears but haven't put the lights on yet.
Here are a couple of pics.

I paid 1.92/gal yesterday at BJs in Concord, but it's 1.97-2.02 elsewhere around.

It's like the Vols are cursed. #thepumpkinispissed
If they could just keep that up through next season when they play the Chokies, that'd be great.
In case I never mentioned it before (I know I haven't), I hate UT almost as much as UVA.

The thing in Bend was a whole computerized system on the wall. You had to use a credit card (of course I went in with all quarters and had to go back to my camper), you picked your machine there from the empty ones, and you could enter your phone number for the text. As you can expect, with any system there are still problems.
1) People still not back to remove their laundry when it's finished. It was mostly older people. Maybe they don't text.
2) The system went down and I kept checking back to find it still out. Finally, the office opened and I asked them when it was being fixed. They had to reset a modem or something and then it came back.
As someone else said, I always set my timer on my iPhone when I leave. The problem with that is, some of the older machines (like I encountered in VA this summer) don't display times, so I would have to ask someone there if they knew how long it took.
-
I think that's perfectly acceptable. If I was the one who wasn't back in time, I wouldn't be mad.I moved a load today. I waited about 10 minutes.
BTW, I was at a campground in Bend, OR, and you could sign up to get texts when your machine finished.
-
Well, when I was in college, the answer was you didn't wait at all, they better be there.
Not sure what the answer is at campgrounds. I have waited before at one, but it wasn't more than 5 min. and they showed up.
-
Especially when they're still getting over the shock of being completely drenched.
They should do a test on how I always get drenched when others in my family just get a few drops.
-
It could be that it takes guests too long to load their stuff into that space, and get it back out at the end of the ride.
TCD
Good point, but Kali also has one of the biggest loading/unloading areas on those kinds of rides. I never had a problem, but I'm sure there are people slower than me.
-
I don't think there were ever complimentary lockers there.
They have them at the raft ride in DCA, and they're a good thing.
Why it took them 17 years to figure out that guests might like a place to stash their stuff I couldn't tell you.
TCD
I always thought WDW was brilliant to have that little plastic covered space in the center of the raft. None of the other parks I've been to have that. Maybe I'm weird, but I'd rather just use that than lockers.
-
But this is what you hear with campers more than not.
We were camping this summer in Boone, NC, and I left my purse hanging on a chair outside all night! It was still there, with everything inside in the morning. I think most campers respect others' stuff, but I certainly wouldn't do that on purpose to test it out.

Love the doggles! Also love what I'm assuming is the "peanut butter stick of bribery." LOL
Here's to Ellie staying healthy and out of trouble.
Yes, indeed! Worked like a charm.

VT/Pitt is going to be a soaker too. We (VT) played so well in the rain last week against ECU, I can't wait to watch!
